I... was not expecting the RPM drivers to set the front row. Great run by them. 👍

The SEVEN-TIME champion must be proud!

I bet Dale Earnhardt would be proud.

That is who you are referring to, correct?

Maybe Michael Schumacher if not Dale?

If not them either Tom Kristensen or Lance Armstrong?

Cue people complaining about Danica being locked into the field. I just hope for their sake none of the complainers are Kurt Busch fans.

Kurt Busch has champion provisional if it was needed.

Which is kind of my point, the people that complain about Danica are the ones that don't think anyone should be locked in. Therefor, Kurt would miss the race as he wrecked before putting in a time.

Sponsors will keep the sport from being 43 fastest each race. So until this becomes a sponsorless sport again, which will never happen, cars will always be locked in whether or not the amount gets adjusted.

If Jimmy Spencer went on here, he would give ICEYOU a crying towel for calling everybody "_-time".

I missed removing him from the overall list I had copy/pasted. While I don't argue Rusty's induction, I just feel it's too soon. I really hope Wendell Scott doesn't get looked over completely considering he was the Jackie Robinson of NASCAR.

In many ways what Wendell Scott did was more impressive then Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson at least had the support of black baseball leagues. Wendell Scott had the support of nobody. All his friends basically said, "What are you doing racing with those rednecks?" He did it all on his own. He didn't have the protection, support, or celebration Robinson had. Truly one of the most amazing stories in sports that's sadly greatly overlooked.

=======

What a lap by Aric Almirola! Thats one of the things the sport has been missing. New, fresh talent up front. Again, what a beastly lap. 2 tenths quicker then everyone!

Interesting article about Darrel Wallace Jr, a young 18 year old driver who is struggling to move up the ranks because of sponsorship woes.

http://www.nationwide.nascar.com/na...4/dwallace-waiting-game-nationwide/index.html

NASCAR really needs a talented driver like Wallace Jr for many reasons. It will not only help more drivers who are minorities believe they can make it as a NASCAR driver it will also help root out pockets of racist fan resistance in NASCAR, again making the road for minorities easier to get into NASCAR. Pretty much every sport has gone through the trials and tribulation of integration, and I think it's NASCAR's turn.

Sponsorship woes is affecting everyone, but I'm surprised Wallace Jr is having problems picking up a sponsor, because as Brad Daughtery said, he could be bigger then Danica Patrick

Someone should just save the journalists some time with the Kurt Busch rumors and say he's going to drive every car next year.

Maybe he'll replace this guy next year: Brett Bodine Do you know what car he drives?

I just watched the Sprint Cup qualifying and Wow, what a great performance by both RPM drivers (Almirola especially) to lock out the front row. Was not expecting that.

I'm really looking forward to the History 300 Nationwide race this afternoon

Danica is starting 3rd, she has a good shot at winning the thing, which would be huge

One of my favorite quotes for comments that make no sense to me is something I stole from David Spade in the movie, "Tommy Boy."

However, you're the one person on this message board I can't say this to. :ouch:

lol Tommy Boy is a great movie, I was watching clips from it on youtube

As for the name, "Earth", well, who knows what I was thinking 10 years ago when I signed up for gtplanet

On the subject of comedy, heres one of the funnier NASCAR commercials

I'm not trying to be a smart a** or anything, but how so?

On gtplanet I have 61 "friends". But in reality I have what, 3 real true friends? Social media is good in it's place, but some, including myself, take it too far and it becomes a waste of time. I spend way more time on gtplanet then I should

Social media does have it's negatives. One of those is the fact that certain members of the press tend to spoil things that are suppose to be revealed on "live" tv.

But, Brad Daugherty's whole tantrum over social media was because Brad K used his iphone during the red flag period of the Daytona 500, claiming it was unprofessional for a driver to be using his phone from inside his car... even though it was stopped and turned off. Guess he didn't know about other drivers in test sessions before the season started that were filming on their phones inside their cars while driving around the track.

I'm pretty neutral when it comes to social media. I'm not against it, but I don't use it very much to really care either. It's good for getting information on certain things.

Edit: I guess message boards do fall in to the social media category as well. I was mainly talking about twitter and other forms similar to it.

Yes. Unless she gets wiped out early she may have a better shot this time; she's been practising.

Well! What a weekend, guys! I'm going crazy trying to pick what to watch. Just came off watching the yacht racing in Miami - but now keeping an eye on Nationwide.

I didn't know that the Nationwide cars still use carb setups. I thought the 3 main NASCAR series went to EFI this year.

 This, along with Clint Bowyer's Sprint commercial, Are the funniest ones this year. Sad thing is I actually like the song too.
