NASCAR Seasonal

Sorry, mate. It's a one time dealio. You can't grind it repeatedly.

It's a shame, really. Kinda wished it was like the other seasonals. Probably would have made more than $20 Million by now if it was.

It would have been breathtakingly ridiculous.

Umm, and why is that? If it would have been like all the other seasonals, why would it have been breathtakingly ridiculous, or any more breathtakingly ridiculous than any of the other seasonals?

You have plenty of time with this race to catch up. Suzuka is a highly learnable track. Make sure the racing line is on if you're having trouble finding a good line. Take a race and just take each lap and go faster through each turn until you really get a feel for how fast you can go without deviating badly from the line. Your goal is to exit the turns faster. I know this is very general information, but that's all I got.

I would advise taking a Nascar to a different race featuring this track and just grind the track dozens of times until you have lap times that are as faster than what you are currently getting. That way, as you learn, you're still gaining experience and money, which should make the process less frustrating.

Good advice. You may find acceleration control may help in turns 3,4 and 5. I use a hand controller with the X button and delicately eased my way round these turns. Once you're exiting the turn, smoothly line up the next apex then smoothly accelerate. you may feel slow, but just be patient.

Where the hell do you think you are? This is the Internets. There's always a need for sarcasm.

Hee hee hee, sorry, I just find it boring. People that use sarcasm in the real world are normally nerds, thick women or children. It's easy and it sucks humour out of the room in my opinion.

Alright guys, I followed what you said and I'm still getting pummeled at Suzuka. Currently, my best finish was in 4th Place, mostly due to the fact that I have trouble catching up to 1st and 3rd around the next to last lap (they were 10 second ahead). Any suggestions? I set the ABS and TCS to 1 like you guys suggested.

Don't take it the wrong way but I'm sort of glad that not everybody has walked this event so easily. It almost gives PD a get out of jail free card after all the complaints made, even by myself, about how unchallenging the races were. If people out there are not breezing through the races first time then I can see why they made them the difficulty level they are; because not everyone is on the same skill level.

I'm kinda wondering if there is a glitch or something. Just knowing how easy these races seem to some people, and then there are people who can barely catch the first car? It doesn't make sense to me that these people who are having trouble claim that they are putting in decent laps and they can barely pass one or two cars? Can it be that the code is fudged in some way to certain areas? :odd:

My exact theory earlier in the thread. It seems like we could be onto something. 👍

It would be rather odd though, that only some people are affected. But if, what do you think could be the cause? I've started to heavily cut at Suzuka now, just to see how quick I could get them, and I've been able to get into the lead by the end of lap 3 now, and it's not that I'm an exceptional driver, it's just not all that hard. But maybe the glitch is on our side and it actually was never meant to be that easy? Maybe the people who are having the issues are playing the unglitched version?

Frankly, I dun think there's any glitch. I remember the expert seasonal was impossible to me in the beginning. I was like 30-50 sec away from the 1st in Fiat seasonal during my first few tries. That is following the driving line near perfectly (which is a mistake). Then comes learning from some of u guys and the tune from SA. I am then able to gold it barely after quite a few more tries. And I am at most average (or maybe below) compared to most of the regulars here. Apparently some even find Expert seasonal easy :ouch:. So no surprise if Nascar is a yawn to some here.

I used to find Suzuka really hard track.

Spent some time working out where i could make up time (Generally on all car types). This track is a real old school track where you need to get into a rythm. before this seasonal even came along.

1: The S's are a great place to make up time (start using Driving line to learn braking points and amonuts), then beat them. I usually carry more corner speed specially with the Heavy Nasar and a wider line in to get power down earlier.

2. nail the last of the S's (Dunlop Curve) to get a good speed into the Degner's (brake on time, and put power on before apex). Generally i found i was breaking to late and then too hard for the first Degner..

3. Degner 2, try to keep up wih the cars in front.

4. Brake early for the hairpin, is all about good exit,

5. I find taking a wide line into turn 12, and then holding it tight on the right kink before spoon.

6. i hate spoon (just trundle round that one), I just brake late... :-)

5. don't over brake for 130R, but brake early, and as you turn in, power on, the cars generally hold on, this gives you good speed into the casino hairpin.

just some thoughts...

but for me its the S's, Degners , run into spoon and the 130R, where i seem to make most of my time up.

because if these nascar races were repeatable you could go from level 0 to 40 a-spec in a couple of hours, money wise though, theres no real difference compared to repeatedly grinding the lightweight cup or festa cavallino.

But if these would be like all the other seasonals, this wouldn't be the case, or?

I haven't done the NASCAR race but I noticed with the FGT series that the esses are the A.I.'s weakest link on this track. You make up boat loads of time running the proper line...but if you get anywhere near the A.I. be prepared to take an outside line. They will wimper at the sight of anyone in their rearview and drop speed instantly and let you by. The rest of the track they can run pretty quick on so with my FGT that was down on power from not having a rebuild, I found the only place to make a clean pass was the esses or braking for the chicane after 130R, where again the A.I. would brake super early if they saw you coming, making a divebomb attempt a pretty clean pass.

Good detail there. Now, where's that map... :boggled: :)

Good point about the wide line - I found that a more round line worked with the NASCAR on some corners on the other tracks. As you say gives you the chance for earlier power.

Wikkipedia has a decent track map. Used it to double check.

Glad u liked the detail, just trying to pass on what I've learnt on this track.

But the thing about the Expert Seasonals is that I don't remember anyone ever saying that they were simple. Even the seasoned racers said they enjoyed the challenge. I honestly beat every one of the NASCAR races on the first try with ease. I'm am not a very good racer either. It took me a couple of days to gold all of the expert races and I didn't even make the first cut on GTAcademy. There are way too many people saying that they are simple and still others struggling. It seems off to me.

That was way to easy, Jeff Gordon will be everywhere.

Yes it was way to easy, but the credits & XP was awesome.

TCS-1 and ABS-1 are useful aids to have on. I don't normally use TCS but it does make these cars much more controllable. I found it best to just be smooth. You might not feel that quick but you have almost 15 minutes to get to 1st so you don't have to drive like a complete maniac. Charging into a corner and late braking isn't necessary neither is jumping on the throttle out of every corner.

But it so much fun to kick the backs out with these cars.:)

Jeez, dude. You really freaking hate sarcasm.

No need to get so hysterical about it. You're calling me a fat girl nerd child, and it's pretty pathetic. Reveals more about you than you might realize.

Anyway, maybe you should talk about... Gran Turismo? Just a thought. Someone cracks a joke you don't like... maybe you should just let it slide next time.

Ahh bless, for someone who talks about letting things slide, you won't let anything I write slide. By the way, thick in the context I was using means stupid. Looking forward to your response. xxx

And I wrote that sarcasticly, just for you. xxx

I finally drove the Ford one last night, and I like how the Fusion sounds a lot more than the other two.

Even though I have the GameStop Camry, I decided to grab the Allmendinger Fusion to put around in when I race NASCARs online. I'll make the Camry a Bob car.

Some of the races were enjoyable, especially the first race on Trail Mountain. I never thought I'd have so much fun racing the Impala around that track.

I finally drove the Ford one last night, and I like how the Fusion sounds a lot more than the other two.

I never noticed that the Fusion sounded different to both the Camry and Impala until I tried this event the other day. In a way, I prefer the sound of the Fusion to the other NASCARs, and I'm glad that I recieved the Allmendinger Fusion after winning the Rome Circuit race. I'm equally glad that my prize wasn't yet another Joey Logano Camry. It would have been a kick in teeth if I had won that one again as I've recieved it as a prize car far too many times for my liking.

I also set my Classic Muscle Car prize (Challenger R/T) to "Share with Friends", seeing as I already had 2 of them in my garage.

MM1000 and stjimmy please chill out ;) The 'Ignore' feature is a vastly underutilised one here.

Also, stjimmy and gtfan4life (and who ever else I didn't see) please be mindful of avoiding doubleposting.

It would have been a perfect run, but I decided to finish outside of 1st for the Neo-Rome (how I refer to GT5's Rome course) Reverse event. Otherwise, I now have a cool seven million Credits. Still three million shy from the eight-figure mark. I think this is the most money I've EVER had in ANY Gran Turismo game in my history playing all five major titles.

This event made me hate Nascars. Too much understeer.
Yes. At Rome especially, you can't run full throttle because the car just pushes. I think this is because of Skid Recovery. I'm sure you can improve the car with a better tune.

I crashed like 3 times at Rome and still made it to first before the final lap. The hard part is finding room to pass. I try to do it without making contact...but if the A.I. decides to brake check me I go nascar on them and just push them out of the way.

So, the Ford Fusion sounds different from the Chevy or the Toyota...

Didn't notice, although I use the roof camera, not the best to judge the sound of the cars.

Something worth to check
