Why did they make srf mandatory? It completely ruined the entire seasonal for me. It gives the cars grip you would expect from a lemans gt class race car. It takes all the fun out of the races, shame on pd.

The seasonal is supposed to be challenging, or at least entertaining to drive. Winning is so easy it's not even funny
 
I am sure they want all GT5 users to get Jeff Gordon's suit and helmet :); I just saw it as a short, quick grind for credits, experience points, and the prize(s).

I still haven't finished the Red Bull 'rocket car' challenge :crazy:

I'd like a premium car for once as a prize, the standards :yuck: just sit in my garage :)
 
Horribly easy. Oh well, at least made it to lvl. 35 and earned some free cars. Nastily the free NASCAR I won was that of Vickers, which I already had bought to do the NASCAR A-spec event :ouch:
 
Am I the only person who finds the Suzuka event NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT? Seriously, even though I was able to beat the other races, I STILL CAN'T BEAT SUZUKA because the other drivers keep making me spin out or drive onto the dirt.
 
That's strange I found Suzuka the easiest. I had a bit of struggle on Rome but on Suzuka I was in the lead with 2 laps left. There are many places on that track where you can pass cleanly. Perhaps you're just being too aggressive.

I wish people would stop complaining it was too easy, etc like they speak for everyone. I tried this over & over and only got BRONZE :mad:

And yes I guess I am a terrible driver. Dunno why I love these racing games so much (because they dont love me back)

Going to scour this thread for tips. I had a hard time last night. wanted to throw GT5 out the window

You should try "Game Stock Car" on the PC. Now that game AI is very tough for me especially with the AI at 100%.
(The only reason I bought it was I read on another forum about it's AI.)

Well either that, or maybe I can't seem to adjust to the car's handling very well.
Any tips on how to clear Suzuka?

Same here. With the exception of Rome I won all of them with a comfortable lead first try, and with a far from perfect run. Even did a 360 on the grass at Suzuka, and still won with a comfortable lead. My first try in Rome I only ended up 4th, as it's a lot less forgiving if you make mistakes. Second try I went too wide trying to overtake 1st on the last lap, hit the wall, and only managed 2nd. Took me three tries to actually win it. The other three races I found comparatively easy.

I just checked and if you were starting from scratch, you could get straight to level 27 from these 4 events, with 3 cars, 6 million creds and some new threads thrown in.

TCS-1 and ABS-1 are useful aids to have on. I don't normally use TCS but it does make these cars much more controllable. I found it best to just be smooth. You might not feel that quick but you have almost 15 minutes to get to 1st so you don't have to drive like a complete maniac. Charging into a corner and late braking isn't necessary neither is jumping on the throttle out of every corner.

Don't rush too hard - you have 7 laps, so you don't have to push at every single half chance. Make up time by keeping it smooth in the first half of the lap (that wavy set of corners etc), don't be the last of the late brakers and, overtake only when it's safe. If you beat the other races easily, you should be ahead by lap 5 or 6 anyway.
 
All 4 races were very easy to win, you'll end up 1st with 1 to 2 laps remaining. And thanks to these 4 races i've hit level 40 yiew :)
 
Yeah Suzuka is about pace.. I am in the lead by lap 4 no problem.

In Car View, ABS 1.
 
Suzuka is probably the easiest track since you get a couple extra laps to pass everyone. The most important thing is to make sure you are braking early enough with these cars in order to make the turns. It may feel like you are taking them to slowly but all the AI cars are going just as slow through them.


Also u can cut the final chicane if you want to gain like 5 seconds easily a lap.

It's easy to overdrive and lose time. Just keep your cool and focus everything on getting that last turn perfect before the long fast section. This race is not as difficult as some of the others if you are willing to go slow through the slow turns. Pretend you're driving a dump truck.
 
I dunno...I've been accused of been too critical of GT5 but...NASCAR event and no ovals? Not that I like them, but at least have one race stay in character...I dunno.

Well, at least they were fun.

Repeat the mantra "slow is fast":lol: Really, you spend most of the lap in first gear. As others have said - keep it real smooth and brake early.

Having said that I'm struggling with Suzuka. But that's more about me and the and track - it's a bit of bogey course for me. I have a history of problems with it and issues with consistency. There are a couple of places where I clip the grass (usually after 2 or 3 good laps) and a couple of high speed braking zones I can't get right. Maybe bring time to switch on the driving line!:dunce:

All the things said for this challenge should be applied specially in this race.

You have to brake early and take the infield corners extremally slow, as this are corners with absolutely no camber or grip surface, if you overdoit you will be under steering to the grass.

Don't forget thats a very heavy, low downforce car, with lots of power. If you enter the corner a bit too fast you will not make the turn and if you apply a bit too much gas, you will just spin on smoke. The IA cars will go slowly too, don't worry.

I did it the other way, brake a little bit later then the AI car, sliding gently around the corners (keep off the grass) and give full throttle. Ended with nearly 7 seconds ahead of number two.

All the tracks are very easy, except the ROME one ... always 3 seconds behind the first car until I decided to put OFF all car aids, only ABS = 1.
And suddenly I won this one too, so a Jeff Gordon suit and three tickets richer.

Just play with the car settings, keep calm and stay on track, that's all.

Oh, you're certainly right. They should have provided 50 laps of Indy with tire degradation.

I am really struggling with the Rome circuit having only managed second.Any tips greatly appreciated.Think I may be trying too hard.It's doing my head in:)
 
Fun seasonal event, took a while to complete, stupid errors can cost you first place easily in Rome. Sadly I already owned 2 of the prize cars I won, could care less about the suit.

I won all but Rome, I also got 2nd. My only advice is for you to drive better than I do. :dopey: I'm not the best there ever was, nor the worst.
 
Trial mountain was the nightmare for me. But i never run anything on this track. Just couldnt stay consistent and place better than fourth. Then it clicked. 5 laps at 1.24.xxx and i won by 25 seconds. Had first before the second tunnel on lap 3.
Shocked i had 5 laps all within the second.
 
Thanks for the advice in here to those that are sharing it. I managed to win the first race by a couple of seconds but can only get 2nd on Suzuka. Definitely better than 11th place though and I didn't have to throw my DFGT at the wall (The DF Pro wasn't so lucky but it still actually works. May it rest in peace).

Yes Rome is tricky, took me a afew attempts to get it. I would say same advice as the others: keep it smooth and avoid late braking. Don't go into the corners too fast - the SRF is deceiving. It lets you be too fast on corner entry but you understeer, scrub speed and scew up the exit. Watch for your outside front going red - without SRF you'd likely be in the wall.

Don't be too early on the power, especially on the cobbles. Also if you use DS3, a bit of TCS (2-3?) is probably needed, would expect 5 to really bog you down.

I found I needed to be pretty aggressive and muscle past (not clout) a couple of the AI as they are really slow in the narrow bits and can hold you up too much.
