Here is a piece on Yahoo! Sports on the whole trade deal:
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--t...RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANuYmEEcHQDc2VjdGlvbnM-;_ylv=3

In simpler terms...

Rockets get: James Harden, Cole Aldrich, Lazar Hayward, and Daequan Cook
Thunder get: Kevin Martin (I'll miss him :(), Jeremy Lamb, and some 1st and 2nd round draft picks

If this is what it takes for the Rockets to really become a contender, then so be it. What would have been cool is if we got Serge Ibaka to give the Rockets some better inside play. We probably could use Ibaka more like we've used Yao Ming. But I don't really know how many of these players would fit in Kevin McHale's offense.

Well personally I'd take arenas over whoever is starting at PG for us now

Nice move by the Thunder. I like it. 👍 Interesting to see how Harden handles being the main guy in Houston.

We'll see how great Harden can be, but Lamb has shown good potential and it seems, at first glance, Thunder MAY have gotten a really good deal out of that.

Two shooting guards "meshing" is a long shot. If Lamb is a all-around shooting guard, who can pass, rebound, defend, something like that, maybe. 2's mainly there to score, so two of them are more likely to fight over the ball than mesh. :D

Alright, people. As Michael Wilbon would say... tonight is BALL NIGHT! The 2012-2013 NBA season will tip off proper tonight with three matches. Here is what's on the card for tonight:

* Washington Wizards at Cleveland Cavaliers
* Boston Celtics at Miami Heat (NBA on TNT)
* Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers (NBA on TNT)

With the devastation from Hurricane Sandy (or whatever it is now), seeing these NBA games will certainly be tremendous relief if you're an NBA fan.

More than ever, good luck to all of your team(s) this season. Play all 82 games as hard as you can to make that run into the playoffs. Go far into the playoffs as you can if your team(s) makes the postseason. And of course- be that team to hoist the championship trophy at season's end. But... the journey begins tonight and tomorrow. Now go play already!

Feeling around Miami should be great as the Heat start playing again. Temperatures are a 70 degrees high, the Dolphins are winning, and the loser Marlins and Jeff Loria are out of the picture.

Pat Riley + Joe Philbin could form a Miami sports Megazord.

I think the Thunder made a big mistake.

I realize where you are coming from, but way I see it, they had absolutely zero chance against Miami with Harden on the team, and that's even if the team was willing to sacrifice their finance & salary cap to retain his services.

We also have to remember that Presti's front office team is one of the best, if not the best at pulling off transactions, and also drafting. IMO, two future first round picks are HUGE assets in Presti's hands.

Harden sucks and his beard is hella ugly
Harden's a decent player, but he did SUCK against you guys in the Finals. As for his beard, I'm not gonna lie, I wish I could grow a beard like that.

I spy with my little eye Cherokee the porn star behind the Lakers bench. Looks like she's sitting next to Yajirobe.

You can stack a team all day, all season, but as long as there's a terrible coach running the team, you're not going to get anything done. Brown handcuffed Nash & put him in an uneasy position. You can't do that, you have to let Nash run the offense, that's what he does.

First night of the NBA season is done! Here's what happened...

* (WAS at CLE) It was 94-84 in Cleveland as the Cavaliers beat the Washington Wizards at home.

* (BOS at MIA) Miami doesn't look like they missed a beat since their championship triumph earlier this year. Omnis' boys won 120-107. The Heat just got warmed up to start the season 1-0. It was great seeing Courtney Lee- a former Houston Rocket- drop in some clutch shots for Boston. Ray Allen played pretty good while rocking Miami colors.

* (DAL at LAL) Staples Center saw the Lakers lose at home to the Dallas Mavericks to the tune of a 99-91 score.

This is just one of 82 games. LONG way to go.

Sanity prevailed here as the Knicks-Nets game has been postponed for obvious reasons. Likely the Knicks-Heat game will be ppd as well (as it should be).

Yajirobe.
:odd:

I thought that as soon as they got Nash. I think I even posted it. For the Lakers offense to be better than the 🤬 that it was last season, this must be Nash's team. He must orchestrate this crew, and that will be the start of this year's Lakers.

They get paid millions though, they'll set their egos aside, figure it out.
Wow KG be a sport will ya? We won, simmer down.
KG is a fat, old dude who has very sore attitude. Was that Chalmers that he was trying to block, but didn't have neither the speed or the lift to get up to block the shot? I wish he was smart enough to realize his limitations these days, and act accordingly, but he won't. He's a black Bill Laimbeer, too, but that's for another day.
And lol at the Lakers.
You have to give them time. Brand new team with more egos than several average NBA clubs combined.

Howard needs to calm down, as well. That was a lot of foul trouble for the first game. They picked up Howard because he's one of the best centers in the game, not to have Bynum 2.0.

"We won", because he's a Heat fan, right? Silly Heat fans. j/k

As for Howard being referred to as the best center in the game: I guess that's true, but in my book, centers suck in today's NBA. You know it's true!

Howard looks overrated.

Everyone in the NBA is going to shift to a small ball game unless we get more big men like Ewing and Shaq to come up to the league. Feeding the monster doesn't work so well. Especially not when you have people like Wade that can jump like a grasshopper high enough to block shots.

Yeah, seriously. I guess he likes the Steelers and the Heat because they both won in 2006. 💡

Ewing & Shaq sucked. Ewing was the poor man's Olajuwon, or Admiral. Shaq pretty much had the green light from David Stern to just knock anyone out of position to lay it in, or simply dunk. That idiot became a pretty good passer towards the prime of his career, but his skill level was middle school level compared to the someone like Arvydas Sabonis, or Hakeem Olajuwon who could actually score, defend, and everything in between by using something Shaq is not at all familiar with called basketball skills.

Don't get me wrong, Shaq was above average. But if NBA had any integrity(Stern is a whore), Shaq would've been a really good 18-15 guy at best. God, that name gets me worked up.

P.S. True story, my nickname is Shaq. They wanted to shorten my Japanese name when I started at my work nearly 20 years ago, and the nickname they came up for this 5'10" Japanese kid was Shaq. They must've been on drugs, but it stuck.

It's too bad I don't have Comcast SportsNet Houston. Sadly, I missed seeing James Harden's beast performance. We won 105-96 at Detroit. The Rockets lost three straight season opening games heading into this one. Carlos Delfino was out of his mind with the threes he jacked up in this game for Houston. Still... we got it done. We actually trailed 58-55 at the half. I'm sure the last thing Detroit wanted was to see another Detroit team fail after having seen the Detroit Tigers get swept by the San Francisco Giants in the 2012 World Series.

Harden picked up a double-double: 37 points, 12 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. This is the best-ever first game for a Rocket since [one past Rocket whose name fails me], who scored 28 points for the 1983-1984 Houston Rockets.

Up next is our first back-to-back of the season: at Atlanta on Friday night followed by our home opener- big scoreboard and all- on Saturday night hosting a6m5's Portland Trail Blazers.

Elsewhere (so far)...
* Philadelphia beat the visiting Denver Nuggets 84-75.
* Indiana won 90-88 at Toronto.
* San Antonio took down and took out New Orleans 97-95 on the road.

Congratulations to all other winners up to and after this post. How did your boys do today (if they played)?

Dude, Olajuwon was the best player in NBA history. I don't expect teams to have big talent like that, I'm just talking the physicality and pure mass of people like Shaq and Ewing.

And some skills. I think I just wanted to rant. Sorry. :D

Edit: NBA is FUNNY. What a circus. Clearly, our rookie who held his position got a elbow swung into this chest by Dwight Howard got called for a defensive foul. Shaq. Classic.

Then at the other end, as he tried going straight up for a offensive rebound, Pau Gasol comes from behind, pretty much lands on his back, no-call. Keep it up, WWF!

Edit2: Oh, good. They just made up for it. Now our boy Nicolas, he went straight up, but did "touch" the back of a Laker forward, they did call over the back on that one. ;)👍

Edit3: For the record, now the Lakers are getting SCREWED by the refs. I swear these refs are just winging it. And Dwight Howard is letting our ROOKIE center get inside his head. Howard is having a great game for the Lakers, and he's letting some rookie get to him. He was never the smart one, I guess.

Ahh tough loss for the Hornets against the Spurs, at least the brow put up solid numbers with 21 points and 7 rebounds.
