Fine, I get that but most players probably aren't going to be worried that manual transmission isn't included. I get that manual is a requirement for racing sims but NFS does not need it.
Just because "Most" players aren't going to use a specific feature doesn't mean it shouldn't be in. In starcraft 2 most people don't really play professionally, but there is that option to improve your game and style of play. When it comes to car games, cars have a choice between automatic and manual in real life. It should be no different in a game with real cars. It's silly to assume that "most" people won't use manual. Saying NFS does not need it is.. worrisome. Why? Because it wasn't until HP2010 and World that manual transmission was suddenly "removed" from the NFS experience.
There are plenty of "Arcade" racing games that still allowed you to use manual transmission. I should not be dictated in how I want to play a racing game just because a lot of people don't use a specific feature that I would use. That's what makes me different from other drivers. Infact manual transmission could only improve a person's ability to master the car, hence the starcraft 2 reference. If I want to improve, then it's time to up my game from automatic to manual, if I want to challenge myself, I should be able to do that.
Instead NFS is now treating every gamer like they are idiots and can't think for themselves.
What I like about this game so far.
Customization of everything including how your car can adapt to your playstyle
A varied car list, not just basic tuner cars but it seems it's gonna be something like Most wanted 2005 or Carbon's variety in cars.
The Car models themselves. Very well done on the models and the environment itself looks really good.
The fact you can change how your car sounds. Pretty cool.
The world size is apparently twice the size of Rivals. (Rivals wasn't that big from my experience though, it felt smaller than HP2010 or Most wanted 2012) But still bigger world, hopefully will result in more interesting races.
Cops are in. Outrunning the cops has always been a staple of the NFS franchise since the first game.
Multiple Camera views, from what I have seen their appears to me many ways you can customize your view. maybe? hood cam looks good.
What I don't like.
The hollywood over the top effects, the cars and roads always being wet, I mean really? Come on guys.
The game looks like its going to be locked at 30 fps. I don't care what you say, I've seen many open world racers or games in general that have a lot going on which still maintain 60 fps. Even HP2010 had 60 fps. This is bs for a next gen racer.
The always online requirement. I guess simcity was too tragic for them to learn form? Sounds like this is a pseudo NFS world replacement.
No manual transmission. If you're going to let me drive how I want, then let me drive how I want!!!
No cockpit view, Once again, It's how I like to drive...
No Day/night cycles, will we even have dynamic weather? *sigh*
Storyline.. Lol.. when a lot of that time could be focused on adding more playable content, like cars and things.
79.99 price tag.. >_<
Look, I get this is an arcade game. But this is also a game about customizing and personalizing your ride and experience. For quite a few people Cockpit view and transmission is really apart of that experience. Is this a game breaking deal for me? Not really, but it's definitely a game I won't be using my g27 with. The 30 fps thing, it bugs the hell out of me. It would be nice if PC users get 60 fps, I doubt it though, and we saw how rivals looked with that framerate. The medians in the road are spaced so close to give you the illusion that you're going fast than you actually are in the game engine. The medians in NFS 2015 look a bit more spaced out, so at least there's that.
I'll see what lies ahead of NFS franchise. I'm hoping the car selection and the gameplay and the customization will still be good enough to buy it, but not for 79.99 No thanks.
