Because it is not needed imo. It would be a good thing to be put n the game for those that want it to be in. I am going to stop going on about this MT.
 
I'm on the same lines as @JASON_ROCKS1998. Manual option isn't the most important thing they'll need to add to an arcade racing game, as it simply doesn't make that much difference to the game experience on a controller other than making less buttons available for other features such as rear view and changing camera, on a wheel that's different, but they're probably not aiming for perfect wheel experience anyway. This is just my opinion though, I can't say anything for anyone else.

If a game isbased around cars, there should be an option. Excluding it is stupid and makes no sense.

Ive yet to run into a game that doesn't have all necessary buttons mapped correctly, that included a manual(and clutch for that matter), and had to sacrifice another major button mapping just to have it. Like I said, all we need as an option, and it's not like it's something g that will break the game or even be a problem to implement. I'd play Mario Kart with manual if it ha an option. The amount of things it simulates in terms to real life is not a relevant topic, IMO. I'm not wanting it because I'm a sim racer, I want it because its more involving and fun

I can't disagree with you on having an option is obviously better than not having an option, but I honestly won't care if there isn't a manual in the game.

Not happening. The Frostbite engine is nearly impossible to modify. Have you seen any mods that affect gameplay for The Run or Rivals? Nope.

Never checked. That's not going to be good for people that want to use MT if Ghost don't include it.
 
Guess one less game will be getting purchased in November then. :)

Fine, I get that but most players probably aren't going to be worried that manual transmission isn't included. I get that manual is a requirement for racing sims but NFS does not need it.

Well what about the customization? That's a sim thing. An arcade racer doesn't NEED customization and tuning, those are sim aspects. But most people want the customization even though it's an arcade racer.

Actually customization has become a huge factor in the NFS series from Underground (excluding the Criterion games) and sim racers generally have tuning, not customization.

Haha maybe... But I was really looking forward to this game. I was gonna buy it day one but now IDK. I'll wait until it's on sale. To me, MT is a big thing for me in the NFS games. It wasn't any sim racer that got me into using manual. It was NFS Underground 2. And from then on it has been a staple

Given the way this new game is going, I don't think its in the style of the game to have drag racing. It seems to be very liquid and always moving, almost like you can just drop into a race at any time even if you don't start with the rest. That being said, with that kind of style and Speed being its own of the "Five Ways to Play", it does leave open the possibility for highway racing.

Well this is exactly the reason why we need more info directly from the devs. The longer we go with just the same basic schpeal (schpeel?) of "Five Ways to Play" and "in-depth customization" without actually knowing any hard facts and details about the game, the more we're left to speculate. This is fine in realistic levels (i.e. moderation), but it seems there are two kinds of people on the subject of NFS 2015: those that are putting it on a pedestal before knowing any real details about the game and those who doom it to fail with the same information level (I've seen both prattling on over the internet like they know the game inside and out). Those who assume too much of the game are bound to be disappointed and will think the game is just terrible at release because we didn't know how it all fits together beforehand. Those who are dooming it to fail without knowing how it all works will have that kind of mentality so hardwired by the time of release that they won't enjoy the game either way. Right now, what Ghost or EA or whoever need to do is give us the answers to the big questions. They don't need to reveal everything, especially with 4 months before release, but we need more than fancy marketing catchphrases and default cookbook interview responses to put the more wild speculators to rest. Give us info on the backbone of the game and get more specific as time goes on.

I've invented a third category for myself: cautious optimism slowly eroded away as more information surfaces, gradually replaced with a strengthening desire to dropkick EA for yet again failing to make a true successor to the undisputed king of the franchise, one of the best arcade racers ever released, the basically perfect Hot Pursuit 2 :D

Not that I was expecting this in any way shape or form to be like HP2 - I really want to enjoy the new game for what it is. But that's looking less and less likely.

I'd like to think that I'm cautiously optimistic. The cautious part I'm good at, but the optimism bit is a new one for me. :lol: I'm basically trying to be as neutral as possible until we finally get enough information to make a proper pre-purchase judgement of the game. They have a recipe for a really nice arcade racer, but it seems that they've just failed in terms of showing us the execution. Once we see their execution, then we can judge the game the right way instead of making hasty assumptions.

Ya I'm a huge Underground fan but this game isn't gonna be as good as it could be. If I buy it, it won't be until it goes on sale
 
Manual tranny would be nice but it's hardly needed in a 100% arcade game like this where we can roll up to a corner at 300kph and pull an instant hand brake 180 turn, it just wouldn't work or make much sense.

But this has never been the point...U2/MW/Carbon at least gave you the choice, and in my eyes, it opened the game up to a lot more because of it's inclusion. Do you not wanna hear engine rev, pull away in second gear thanks to some fancy tuning and ratios, cruise around the world in 4th then slam it into 2nd and tear away from others/cops revving that engine high, taunting the AI with the sound of your engine, swinging round hairpins then slamming the throttle as you barrel it up or down a canyon in selected gears, have the freedom and control to go the speed you want with the power you want at any time...? I do, and this is what made the older games so much more fun, it's not just about the car control and tuning, but the thrill it brings. Engien quality was superb in the underground wanted carbon days, and manual added to that, and the physics lended them selves well, I don't remember being able to do what you described in any of the underground era games as the physics were at least competant enough for it.

It's preference, if they are putting in the efforct the influence the entire handling physics from drifty to grippy, not included gears or transmission options pushes back a lot of freedom. It's not about the sim approach either, as drag racing is now not gonna be in it, it's about logic. Even Juiced 1 and 2 and BLUR and ridge racer gamse had manual trans and they were awesome for it. When you apply it to a game like GTA it really doesn't matter (despite the fact there is a mod for it now) and saying "nfs is arcadey it doesn't need it" is again, not the point. The point is choice and the options it unlocks because of it, i've had so much fun in the past but now, that fun is muted, driving pleasure has been reduced.
 
Heck, even FlatOut 2 had a manual transmission! If modders can get it working (HP 2010), why can't the developers include it as an option in the first place?

Lol, good point, forgot about flatout 2, good times.

The problem we have with NFS15 atm is the fact it doesn't even have a gear indicator...so even if we did mod it in, we'd need to add a counter display for the gears. HP2010 at least had a gear display...which was always curious as to why manual was never included, in NFS15's case it's much more of a actual design denial, looks they have literally designed everything round automatic.

Ridge Racer 7 had one too. Appealing to the casual demographic has never been this blatant. Besides, I remember MT even being recommended in the Black Box days, because there was a minor but noticeable performance increase when you mastered MT.
