Need tune for 871PP Ferrari Formula (sorry to post this twice)

Sorry to post this twice but I put an incomplete title on the original thread.

Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me find a tune for the 871PP Ferrari Formula Challenge (F2007 or F10). I've found quite a few tunes, but they seem to be either specifically for the Spa race, racing soft tires (the seasonal event calls for racing hard tires), and/or a DS3 controller.

I won Monza easily because of the shortcuts, but not so lucky on the other races. I love the Cote d' Azur track track and am normally very good at it because I've driven it so many times. However, with these Ferrari's I can't turn the wheel far enough and fast enough to make the multiple U-turn like corners. I have a Logitech G27 wheel, so I have a feeling that might be making this race harder than it should be.

At any rate, if anyone out there feels like helping out a near rookie (less than 3 months but want to finish all of A-Spec before GT6) please send me a PM with a tune or a link to a tune. Plus, any advice on the turning problems I'm having would be greatly appreciated. Thank you VERY much in advance! I will do my best to return the favor when GT6 arrives. I'm on full disability after breaking my back, so I'll be able to use practically all my waking hours playing GT6. This should allow me to progress more quickly in GT6, and I will share that progress with my friends here in terms of cars, experience, etc.

I used pretty much stock cars for this seasonal and fiddled with engine output to match the PP rating and the down-force and gearing to match the track. I also used my DS3 and my Wheel and had few problems with either. There are a couple of tunes in the old thread that you could try;

Both are from top line racers and FormulaKimball is something of an open wheel specialist. With both of those tunes you will still need ( as a minimum) to adjust the final drive to give you your speed characteristics on certain tracks and optionally you may want to increase/decrease down-force to give you higher speed or less grip and v.v.

From the issue you are reporting with the Cote track I'd say you need to set your FFB setting lower on your wheel. You'll find it much easier and probably faster to go from lock-to-lock if you have less of a fight with the FFB.

Also, it's a personal thing I guess but I have always found the '07 car to be less demanding than the '10 car to drive and in terms of performance there's not much between them

Thank you for the tune and info. When you refer to the FFR, do you mean the Feedback Strength in the Steering Setting options? I noticed this setting and was going to change it but when I highlight this setting, the scroll on the bottom says "...only effective for Driving Force Pro or GT" wheels. I have a Logitech G27 wheel so it sounds like this won't apply to me.

Aside from the Feedback Stength Setting, there are also settings for Power Assisted Steering and Steering Type. Do you know anything about these settings?

PS: Re my problem with the Ferrari Race, it's not how firm the wheel is when I'm turning it but rather how far I have to turn it to make those few U-turn like corners in the middle of the Azur race. With either of the Ferrari's I have to turn my wheel past 360 degrees on the hardest corner which I would guess is roughly 350 degrees. It's very tough to steer these Formulas. Thanks!

Chris, if you have the Logitech G27 then the Force Feed Back (FFB) setting applies to your wheel and I really recommend that you have it set to a lower setting unless you are really competent with the wheel in GT5.

Power assist can help with rapid changes in direction as it reduces the resistance on wheels with 900 degree or more steering rotation. I have never found this to be as helpful as it sounds. What a lot of wheel users do use however is "active steering" which can be set from the in race options menu. It smooths out your steering inputs and in some cases can give you a bit of an assist by allowing you to put the power down as early as possible exiting corners.

I have a Thrustmaster T500RS which has 900 degree turning the same as the G27 and I don't seem to have a problem negotiating Loews (the sharp turns) at Cote. Maybe someone who has a G27 could comment?

Thank you for all the advice. I've tried just about everything now including SRF but still no luck. I always use SRF even though I know most people hate it. But I'm a rookie who's only trying to finish as much of GT5 before GT6 is released, at which point I will try to not use any aids.

I'm glad you suggested lowering my FFB since the higher setting was causing my wheel to violently shake and make horrible noises when driving the Red Bull car and/or when I'd hit a curb while driving some of the faster cars. Have you ever experienced this?

While on the subject of wheels, which do you think is the best? I only bought the G27 because that's what a friend had and the price, including stand, was in the right ball park of how much I wanted to spend. But I'd like to know which wheel is best in case mine ever breaks, and now that I know I will always be a Gran Turismo addict:-). Thanks again!

Wheel shake with the X1's is a common problem with almost all wheels you just have to accept it or hold on tighter :). The more expensive wheels such as the T500RS and Fanatec Club Sport are less prone to straight line shake but they still do it.

Which is best.....the one you're comfortable with! G27 is an excellent wheel that is used my the majority. The Thrustmaster T500RS is awesome but it's pretty expensive and the Fanatec is in the same league as the T500RS but costs even more...
