Quantum of Solace is the title of one of Ian Fleming's short stories from the For Your Eyes Only collection. It hs no action and is really a character study of Bond. In it, he is at a rather boring dinner party and offends some people with a comment. He is then told a story about two of Britain's most influential people who met and married but fell out of love. They chose to stay together rather than separate and lose face, and the story finishes with Bond remarking that the real world has much more drama than many of his adventures. In and of itself, the title Quantum of Solace is a kind of self-examination and a means of seeking closure; it could be re-written as a "quantity of solitude", and it's very appropriate given Bond's emotional state at the end of Casino Royale. I've managed to find a synopsis, taken from the press release posted on MI6:
I have to say, I'm really looking forward to it. Quantum of Solace has superseded The Dark Knight as the film I'm looking forward to the most.
I'm not familiar with the book character, but I did think Craig did a good job in Casino Royale. He wasn't the Bond played by Connery, Moore, Dalton, or Brosnan(left Lazenby out), but I thought what he effectively portrayed was a young, raw, rough edged Bond, which the film called for.
I'm a Bond fan, but I gotta agree with you there. One thing that bugs me about the Bourne series is that I really liked the first one, and it's been downhill for me since. Supremacy and Ultimatum are both good, but Identity to me was nothing short of a perfect film.
Not according to the IMdB Boards; they seem to think they can get the title changed to EXCELSIOR for no reason other than that they're a bunch of fanboys who think they know better than the producers and are choosing to forget that "EXCELSIOR" has nothing to do with any of the films.

Mostly true. Given that the DBS is pretty much a DB9 in a different body anyhow, you could get away with that.
The cars were built by the lads in the Gaydon Prototype workshop, which also sired the Rapide, the N24 and also (with some crazy SVO help) the Vantage RS.
Before we go back to Bond, a bit more AM trivia: the two original 'AMV8' showcars that previewed the Vantage were shortened DB7 Vantages. This meant that they had the 420hp V12 under the hood, not a V8 and so are much more closely related to the forthcoming Vantage RS. This also meant that A) the firewalls were rather thin, B) they got a bit warm in the cabin, C) they went like stink, and D) they were more tail happy than a terrier in a butchers.
Right, Bond related AM trivia: twenty stock production DBS have been manufactured for the film, all left hand drive. They are not quite the same colour as the famous 'roll' car, and I personally am not certain the use to which all the cars have been put. Some of the cars have had their airbags carefully removed after sale, ergo, stunts-are-us. Daniel Craig has been doing a lot of stunt driving practice in a variety of rear drive machinery from the DBS right down to the rather more prosaic late-90s BMW 3-series.
The DBS is almost guaranteed more screen prescence than in Casion Royale. AM fans need not be disappointed, there is at least one heavy-duty full-on chase scene.
QoS is approximately halfway through filming, it started with lots of heavy dialogue scenes just to get the actors into the character mindset (apparently, it's unusual to start with the big scripty stuff first.) Filming is currently due to finish mid-summer. That's a lot of filming.
I was always a bit skeptical about Daniel Craig as Bond... but judging by what I've seen and heard (direct from the set) I think this film will be an absolute corker.
It will indeed. A number have been manufactured for the film, so hopefully it will have a little more screen time this time around. Although (fairly obviously) it's not the 'same' car.
