I haven't checked Gamespot for any new GTA:SA shots, but IGN had SA on their frontpage.

Any new screenshorts been released?
And I think I may have spotted a Supra looking car.

Looks like R* is finally putting in somewhat real cars.
So far, I've seen what looks like:
Ford GT
NSX
RX-7
Supra
VW Minibus (Hippe Ride)
And CRX looking one.

R* cars have changed alot since GTA3.

Also, an article I found at a friend's house said that GTA:SA may come to the closet real-life sim ever. In other words, we mean, CJ will be able to do stuff in and make decisions. We mean by going to jobs, driving around, choosing to fire a weapon, etc. GTA:SA, to us, is the closest thing to replicating real-life city, and an individual person's life.

Not on gmail. You have 56K so getting the pictures off the internet is going to take a long time. I could send them over MSN anyway...

Oh well, up to you.
I still have to download them off gmail, plus of got 60/147 so far so I'm slowly getting there.

Thanks for the tiny bit of new info, hopefully there's a wide range of accessories. Though we already knew you could have watches and necklaces (we'd seen CJ wearing such things in screens.

Any new screenshorts been released?
Just read through this thread. Everything has been posted here, but if you have already done that, then no, there is nothing new.

Also, I seen that info, but GTP was down this morning for short while, and I had to get to school. Most of it was fairly well-known, but now it is 100% confirmed. Thanks Ev0.

Yeah, I don't know why it was down either, I went to .org but that said as far as Jordan knew everything was fine, so I never found out what happened there.

That everything was fine message was from a long time ago. Everyone (as far as I know) couldn't connect. But it was a quick fix it seems.

Yes. There seemed to be some downtime. All fixed. I haven't seen anything said by Jordan, so it was just a small error that must have fixed itself.

I know that, it always has everything is fine untill Jordan finds out about the problem.

Heads up display visable in new screen!

In one of the new screenshots from this weekend's assets, I noticed what appeared to be the heads up display, or HUD, but it was faded out. The IGN screenshot was of low quality and the possible HUD could not be determined; but now we have the high-quality screenshot, and I was able to apply some filters and adjust colorization to bring the HUD to the surface:
hud.jpg

You can see the outline of the knife that CJ has in his hand as well as the time reading 22:00. it also appears that the health and armor of CJ are measured in status bars rather than numbers.

Also looks like the police have offroad vehicles, I think this was mentioned in some info a while back but this is the first screen ive seen of it.

Your screenshot doesn't seem to show on GTP, but for other people with this same problem, Right Click the picture, go to "Properties" and copy and paste the link into a web browser. The off-road Police Vehicles picture is an old one, but still I haven't seen it brought up here oddly enough.

Also, good find with the HUD. So many different bars, although I'm going to like it. I've gone from hating HUD mode to liking it recently. The knife looks cooler, more of a killer's knife.

Nice one R32GTST/M! 👍

Yeah the knife on Vice was pretty pathetic, I was hell exited about it then it just sucked...

Yeah, well I hate alot of the Melee weapons in Vice. The only ones I really liked were the Baseball Bat (also in GTA 3 of course), the Screwdriver and the Hammer. Fun weapons. The chainsaw was okay, not greatly done. The rest were "meh". I did, however, like the other weapons in Vice City. Mainly the Colt Python, my favourite of all. I've never liked the Colt .45 in either games. I hate the firing animation for that.

But I like that, just your avarage simple pistol. I hate how you're 100% acurate with the colt on vice though, that was annoying.

Just read on C&VG.com that they've had a sniff about the multiplayer and they believe it to be true...

SAN AN: MULTIPLAYER MODE RAISES ITS HEAD

San An to feature PvP or co-op action?

11:17 Well the story has finally broken with the latest dark rumours circulating around the web that San Andreas, the mighty Rockstar's latest epic instalment of its all-conquering GTA series, will feature a multiplayer component.
What it is and what it might do is still the cause for much speculation. Online seems unlikely given the scope of the single-player game, but a player versus player component or possibly even a co-operative mode would seem the likeliest features to us.

Still it's stunning news no doubt and finally we can break our radio silence as we've been aware of this story and these rumours for at least a week. As you'll have no doubt noted, we were down at Rockstar on Friday (for a full report see here) looking at San An's second city San Fierro and it was a point we had no hesitation in raising with Rockstar.

Our question "Is there an online mode for the game?" was met with a flat denial of "No". Our follow-up, "So is there any kind of multiplayer component for the game?" was also met with a similar stone wall "No", and there, for the moment, we had to let the matter rest.

Yet our journo instincts still bristled.

It's no surprise to find Rockstar has been playing its cards close to its chest on this one. If the rumour is true and our suspicion is that it is, a San An multiplayer mode would be the cherry on the icing on San An's considerably large cake and further cement its place as the hugest PS2 game this year.

Further calls to Rockstar this morning were also met with a "we cannot confirm or deny this story."

More on this one as it erupts.

Hmm. That last comment raised my eyebrow slightly: "we cannot confirm or deny this story". I still don't think it is necessarily true. It may be, but I believe that last comment was made by Rockstar to get even more anticipation and potential sales.

Don't get your hopes up is all I can say.

Well here is an interesting piece.

GTANet.com Clears Up Some Rumours:
Rah! So here we are with only two weeks left until San Andreas hits store shelves in North America. While we impatiently wait for these last thirteen and a half days to crawl by, the levels of excitement and anticipation amongst fans will surely climb right through the roof. And as the excitement builds, the amount of rumors and speculation will likewise grow exponentially to match. Because of this, we felt it might be a good time to bring some of the more persistent rumors into the light of day, and see what they're all about. A brief search through pretty much any message board across the intraweb will turn up any number of strange and unfounded rumors about various features in the game. For now, I'm just going to touch on a handful that are frequently repeated, or may otherwise leave people confused in two weeks when they finally see the game in action. (Note: this post is kind of long, so be sure to hit the "read more" link for the rest)

Rumor 1: Driving schools, driving stats, and car handling, oh my...

Over the weekend, many of us read in horror as Gamespot told us how the driving schools and stats would affect the overall handling of all the cars. The general consensus to this revelation was a resounding "WTF" at the implications that either A: the player's ability to handle cars would be handicapped from the start, or B: that the actual car handling would change throughout the game. Perhaps the biggest concern was that the latter would mean cars would eventually behave like the "perfect handling" cheat from the previous games, thereby taking all the fun out of, say, power-sliding a Manana through a group of peds. Then of course there were the general fears that artificially boosting the handling would make they player's actual skill quite pointless...

But before grabbing my torch and joining the angry mobs of villagers inevitably descending upon Rockstar North, I figured I'd put GTANet's rather nice contact list to good use. So, I fired off an e-mail to someone in-the-know, and asked what the hell was going on with this wacky driving stats nonsense, and whether or not it mucked about with the actual vehicle handling. Here's the relevant bits from the reply which can be published:

Don’t worry about it. The driving skill doesn’t actually change the handling of the car. It will open [possible spoiler removed] and some smaller things but the handling of the cars doesn’t change. You are right; this would have been very **** indeed.

Unfortunately, the source here must remain anonymous, but I can say without a doubt (and to say the least) that they know precisely what they are talking about.

The bottom line: Nothing to worry about here. It appears Gamespot simply misinterpreted and exaggerated the crap out of what they saw (or didn't see, rather) during their brief non-hands-on demo of the game.

Rumor 2: Ragdoll Physics versus Impact Animation

The whole ragdoll/impact animation controversy is probably the number one rumor about the game circulating the intraweb right now at any given time. Whenever the topic pops up, there's almost always a few people who chime in to say that Rockstar officially announced there would be ragdoll physics in the game. These comments generally come with some sort of bizarre "proof" that it's in the game; such as saying the clip of CJ playing basketball (?!), or the bit with the explosion at the end of the second trailer are somehow examples of ragdoll in action. Then there's the scores of people who claim that Rockstar will have "lied to us" if the feature is not in the game. So what's the deal with the ragdoll then?

Well, for starters, nobody at Rockstar has ever gone on record to say that ragdoll physics are in the game. Full stop. We've read all the print and online previews of the game here at GTANet, and have yet to see anyone at Rockstar mention it. When talking about the upgrades to player/ped animations, Dan Houser and the other Rockstar rep's have consistently said the game will use "impact animation". The only time the term ragdoll has come into play has been when the gaming press have tried to assume and explain what they think "impact animation" really means. Now, being that ragdoll physics are just that- physics- and not animation, why would they use one contradictory term in place of the other? Furthermore, I've contacted a few people at Rockstar Games and Rockstar North to inquire about the ragdoll/impact animation enigma, and each time was met with an official (and off-the-record) "Wait and see" reply as to what impact animation really is.

The bottom line: Nobody knows for sure just yet. Rockstar has never said that ragdoll equals impact animation, or if there would be ragdoll physics in the game for that matter. So don't get your hopes up.

Rumor 3: The size of the map

I had a go at trying to clarify how big the map really is a few weeks ago. Mind you, it was a speculative piece based on coordinates found on the official Flash map, but I never got orders from above to kill the article, so perhaps I was rather close. Anyhoo...Whatever the case, one thing is for certain: There's still a number of people out there with outlandish misconceptions on how big the map will really be. The official PR line is that San Andreas is "between 4 to 6 times bigger than Vice City". Many a fan (and magazine editor) assume this means one could fit VC's entire map end-to-end across San An four to six times in either direction. However it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that doing that would end up with a map between 16 to 36 times bigger than Vice City. What, with length times width equaling area and all.

The bottom line: Yea, the map will be bloody huge. Just don't expect it to take hours to drive

--------------------------

An interesting read, many of GTANet's comments matched my thoughts and comments. I still don't think we will be seeing Ragdoll Physics in the game. If you think about it, it would probably end up being harder to handle CJ in the game with Ragdoll Physics. I'm sure the map will be sufficient size. And that Driving Stats thing? Never heard that one. And I'm 125% sure that Rockstar wouldn't improve the handling of each car...

How stupid are some people? I mean, Gamespot of all sites coming up with that theory? Christ. Things like this turn people off the game, as some people are quite gullible.

An interesting article none-the-less.

I like the fact the driver will be handicapped and not 'improved' if you understand what I mean. Basically I would prefer you started off bad and got to norm through the driving skills. Perhaps it will take abit more time to accelerate/stop and you are more likely to spinout when drifting.

Yep. I love that. Though, your driving skills should get started off, as the starting missions place CJ in the Driver seat for the gang.

Maybe you will do that mission, and drive badly, and then one of your homies will go,'hey, come with me. Your driving stinks!'

Ahh yes, that map is a good one. It's really good for just getting the whole scale and size of SA into perspective. It's already massive, and Las Venturas and the Desert are not even added yet!

Go reserve it as soon as you can, it comes out in 2 weeks, and it's going gold within days (hopefully). You'll need a preorder, as the non reserved copies of SA are going to fly off store shelves almost instantly.

How about the amazon.co.uk stock warehouse?
I have preordered about 2 weeks ago. They already have GTA:SA top of their chart and it hasn't been released yet.

Ok, guys I will reserve this baby tomorrow, I've written it on my arm, about 5 times already with permanent marker.👍

ExigeExcel
You are not worthy of the game!
A true fan would have written it in blood! ...then permanent marker...

* Runs to go get a knife.
