Thoughts?

To me it's strange. Why spend so much money on a wheel that will be practically useless as you use it like a Wii wheel

Waste of time for me..

I like ffb and pedals

Similar thoughts here. I love the design. Replicates F1 steering wheels. But it should be a connected steering wheel.

Would've been awesome if it connected to the CSR Elite

Used by the Pros
The SRW-S1 Steering Wheel has been tested and approved by professional racing drivers including four-time IndyCar Series winner, Dario Franchitti and double Indy 500 Champion, the late, great and much missed, Dan Wheldon as well as SimRacing stars, David Greco and Bruno Marques.

No mounts. No pedals. No seats.
NO THANKS!

LOL

I don't get how they could possibly like the wheel.

It's literally a Wii remote..

Caz get in there LOL

First impression I had was very positive, but that was it. Just a new useless toy.

How does this work... anyone who knows anything about driving knows that you steer with the pedals not the wheel and this thing has no pedals.

That sucks because I really love my Siberia V2 headphones. Like a big slap in the face cause it sucks so hard, when their other crap is so freakin' good...

A guy posted around here awhile ago looking for a wheel which could be used without pedals because of a disability.

Thomas of Fanatec might remember him because he told the guy to hold off ordering a Fanatec because the buttons wasn't suited for throttle use.

Maybe to guys with legs this is a POS.
To others who have disabilities it's a god send.

AMF I see my disability question hasn't been taken into account in your questions to Fanatec. Another case of disabled overlooked eh.

Anyhow carry on enjoying taking the piss out of the wheel.

Bye.

Sorry I thought It had been sorted with Caz's solution.. I'll add it :)

and No one was mocking it because of that so Please don't falsely accuse people.

Thanks Bye.

Sorry I know nothing if caz's solution.
Accept my appologys.

Edit. I was just pointing out shortsightedness of morons.

And I know you're disabled how? To anyone else other than the disabled the wheel is kinda silly coming from Steelseries. Why would you take offense to that? Its the point of view of someone who isn't disabled, it isn't shortsightedness if someone doesn't know you're handicapped. And nobody is thinking about the disabled when looking at wheels. C'mon.

If your comment wasn't aimed at me then apologies. But it looks like it was. left888, are you going to defend the "morons" who are being attacked?

Edit: I just went onto the advertisement page for the wheel. Not once did I see anything that said "made for the disabled". I don't understand how we're supposed to know that. We're morons because we don't know that?

This wheel does look pretty cool for a disabled person, but for the rest of us not having pedals takes away half the fun of driving. Does it have a vibration feature? If it doesn't 👎

Why aren't you? When I form an opinion of something, I attempt to balance any immediate negative reactions with thoughts as to whom the product might actually appeal to.

That said, there's a very very limited amount of people to whom this might appeal.

How much does this thing weigh? Their "Specifications" page is nothing of the sort, it's just a features list. I wish that manufacturers would understand the difference. Take your arms and hold them out in front of you for 10 minutes. Now do it for a 2 hour gaming session.

If it's sensitive enough to be of any actual use, how are you supposed to take one hand off and manipulate the dials and whatnot while keeping it balanced with your other hand and not swerving all over the road?

You're basically limited by the design to 270 degrees, so throw any slight realism when driving street cars out the window.

Add a stand with a shaft that'll mount this thing and a set of pedals, it looks a whole lot more interesting. As it stands, it's too complicated and pricey for casual Wii-type gamers. Most dedicated sim drivers will laugh at it. And the market of parapalegic dedicated sim drivers is likely awful limited.

Oh and I'm sure that Dario Franchitti, Dan Wheldon, David Greco and Bruno Marques would all happily endorse Microsoft's new Wireless Speed Wheel as well, if you paid them enough. Well, not Dan Wheldon. But the others, for sure.

^^^gimme a break, hindsight is always 20/20. Hold on, let me look at this advertisement for a car I'm buying....oh wait, let me think about how the disabled would use this car. Hmmmmm I'm thinking about buying a refrigerator, I definitely thought about how the disabled would utilize it. Right.

This is preposterous really. Nobody meant any offense to him, yet we're morons.

Hey, I have diabetes, did you think how I'd feel about this wheel? loft for cripe sakes.

Before I spew my negative opinions saying that something is useless and a piece of crap, yes, I do think about how others may find it useful. If I decide that something is of no interest to me, I state exactly that, but don't dismiss that it might be exactly what someone else needs, unless I've put some thought into it and can't see who else could possibly use it. The important part is that last bit. I put some thought into it before spewing out my thoughts.

Obviously, not everyone does. You're far from alone. You could say, "hey, I guess I hadn't thought of that." when enlightened. That'd be the mature thing to do. Or you could, you know, go your way.

"enlightened"

My opinion is that several individuals here have an inflated sense of self importance and need to

A: grow thicker skin
B: take their own advice, as I see several instances a day where they break their own self important online ethical code.

Hope I "enlightened" you. Or was that to scathing?

And saying "the wheel is a POS" was really "spewing"? It's laughable that something like that would get people's ire up. Yet they have no problems dragging Fanatec or other companies through the mud. So many hypocrites it's not even funny.

I've hardly dragged Fanatec through the mud. I've related my direct experiences in what has been, in my opinion, a calm & mature manner. Please don't lump me in with whomever else you're attempting to call out.

Have you used this Steelseries thing? On what basis are you labeling it a POS? Maybe it's incredibly well made and great at doing what it does. Just because it doesn't do anything YOU feel is necessary certainly doesn't mean it's a POS. (At least, not to anyone with a maturity level above say, 13 or so.)

Yes, I'd call labeling something you've never used and can't see other people using spewing vitriol.

I don't see it doing anything that I need. I don't see it being a very useful peripheral for many other people either. I think SteelSeries has made a foolish blunder by spending time researching & developing this thing at all, as the possible userbase seems to be extremely limited.

I can acknowledge all of this with respect and maturity, while also seeing that it might be a useful device for a small segment of people, and not dismissing it as a POS.

I have no need for a thicker skin. I'm not insulted or angered by any of this. It'd be nice to have seen you use this as an opportunity to show a little maturity and say, "Yeah, I guess I didn't think about it that way." but I"m not gonna lose any sleep over it. Kids will be kids.

I wasn't speaking of you about Fanatec actually.

Bottom line is several people here have double standards, its an simple as that. If you're in their little club, you get a free pass, if not you're crucified.

Saying "the wheel is a POS" is HARDLY, let me repeat HARDLY a reason to bat an eyebrow. Its my OPINION, just like your opinion that Fanatec support sucks is YOUR opinion. It had nothing to do with disabled people, non disabled people, and the fact that its thought we were making fun of disabled people is downright insulting to be honest.

Right? Right.

My "opinion" is that I see lots of hypocrisy here. Sorry if that offends you.

And yes, I also think its a huge blunder to make that wheel that way. Its got awesome features castrated by the decision.
