Hey, I'm new to WRS. Just got placed in Division 4 Bronze. I'm guessing that's kind of low on the "I'm a Good Racer" scale? lol

Welcome in and if there's anything I've learned here so far it's everybody has room for improvement and you will learn much in your involvement in WRS and GTP. Just go out there and have some clean racing fun.

Sorry,I just discovered this thread, but allready participate in WRS for the second week now.
I'm currently in transition from DS to wheel, and thought this was an excellent opportunity, not much on-line activity at the moment.
Thought it would be a nice practise before release of GT5.
Regards
Eric

Also just discovered this thread. I decided to participate in order to practice and learn from you other drivers to get prepared for GT5. I expect lot from the GT5 online feature.

Welcome to GTPlanet Tyrboknaut.

As a lurker you may know this already but here are the specifics on joining the Registry and the WRS.
Have fun.

Hi Jimantonic and welcome. The PAL format includes the UK so if you purchased it from a UK retailer it will be PAL. It does say on the back of the box in very small text.

Good luck to you in the WRS.

That would be in an Integra at Fuji then  (it's the only bit of online racing I've done all year!) There is a seperate thread for race events here but WRS is the best place to learn and improve.

Hmm, I still don't have permission to PM. I read that you have to make a post first. Having done that, is it just a matter of waiting or is there something else I need to do?

Yes it is just waiting until a moderator notices and gives you permission.

And welcome to GTPlanet.

And welcome to GTPlanet.

Yes, his first post needed to be approved by a moderator. We require an approved forum post before you can send PM's. This keeps spam advertisers from being able to PM everyone.

hi guys. My name is Gavino and I'm happy to have joined the WRS!

Welcome. The WRS is a great part of the community, and an excellent place to improve your driving skills. 👍

Please take the time to review our AUP.

You need to be sure you're using capital letters at the start of sentences.

Does my "GTP Weekly Gran Turismo 3 Race Series" interfere with the name of the GT5P GTP WRS? If so, do I need to change it, or does it not matter?

Nothing to worry about there, I noticed the name some time ago.

As long as you are not portraying your series as being officially sanctioned by GTPlanet, you are safe. 👍

Hello guys, I'm new here and I just qualified in Division 3 Bronze! I thought it would be nice to practice a little before GT5.. Looking forward to some good competition! Nice to meet ya!

My bad. Sorry.

Hey hey guys and girls,
Im Vince. i've been member of GTP for a while, but for some reason new at WRS. Did the qualifier more than a year ago and never posted it somehow. So last week I thought just give it a try again, and even was a little quicker. I hope too participate in some WRS events Proloque style, before GT5 will be released.

Welcome in Vince and nice GTP tagname. GTP_davinci.

GTP for the love and challenge of the road.
Davinci for the art and story of the ride.

Hey Vince, welcome on board at last  I remember having some great races with you back in the day (when OLR was popular!), particularly in the Ferrari California event you organised 👍

Hi mate,

Welcome, again

Finally soms dutch hope for the overall standing in the WRS.

See you on the leaderboard.

Welcome to the WRS guys.

To answer Inferno251's question.
Here is a good post from an WRS member.
The first thing you have to do is do a qualifying time-trial (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111987). This is where you use the Mazda RX7 on Fuji, do as many laps as you want, and then submit your best laptime (the aim should really be to achieve a natural time, and not one which you spend 100 laps practicing on). After submission, you will be placed into a GTP division.

GTP Divisions: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111988

Once you have been placed into a division, you can then take part in the 'Weekly Race Series' (not races; just time-trials). For each week, a car/track combo is chosen for everyone to do laps with. At the end of the week, you submit your best lap. There is also a leaderboard which everyone can update throughout the week: http://wrs.gtplanet.net . The divisions do not compete separately; they are all mixed together for competition (have a look at the leaderboard).

Each week's time-trial event has its own thread (This week's thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=131937). If you post your laptime (or sometimes only split times allowed with no final laptime), then an automated-bot will fetch your time and update the leaderboard.

I would add that for the qualifier you should put your best effort in to it and spend (approxiamatly) the same amount of time that you think you will put into each week's race.
You should be put into the correct division that way.
You don't want to win in your division right away (probably not enough time spent on qualifier) and you don't want to be last every week (too much time spent on qualifier).
I believe most put about 3 - 4 hours a week if they get the time. Some more, some less.

There is a promotion system for those who need to be moved up the ladder towards alien status. That's Division 1 Gold.
We also like to share tuning/racing tips but Alan gave a good summary of the WRS.
