Even still, it still seemed like lose-lose last night. If we made it into Overtime, good. But if it WERE in Overtime, then it would be against us since the Texans have NEVER won in Overtime. Maybe Kris Brown's shanked tying field goals were to prevent us from making it to Overtime, to spare us the trouble of failing in Overtime.
Some of you who read my college football report may have read me talk about how people seemed to have given up on Michigan, as there were more scarlet and gray at the Big House than blue and maize. Well, Houston fans have given up on Matt Schaub while being all enamored(?) with Vince Young. The 2006 NFL Draft thing will haunt Vince, Reggie Bush, and especially Mario Williams for their lives. Schaub played great under center. But for some of my own Houston fans, it just seemed like people cared more about Vince Young than my Texans trying to keep pace in the AFC South and (more importantly) in the AFC Wild Card.
Also, I may stop listening to sports radio because Sports Radio 610 AM here in Houston had a little texting deal where people had to fill in this blank:
I'd rather be _____ than Kris Brown [right now].
And I'm like... wow. People freaking give up on things TOO easily! The Texans aren't executing. And even still, people just give up on the Texans like the season is completely over and that we haven't a thing to play for. Yeah, I went on a tirade over my Texans shanking an opportunity to tie the game last night. I was upset two weeks ago as well (
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3633287&postcount=1006 ). When you have the same situation happen twice in successive games, something needs to be checked out. It also doesn't help choking late.
I even blogged asking how people take losses (
http://johnbmarine.blogspot.com/2009/11/losing.html ). Was this a close loss for my Texans, or a game we could have easily won despite the fact the Titans played much better? The two would-be field goals would have given the Texans a 23-20 victory. A loss is still a loss regardless of the margin of victory. It almost seems like I should expect almost the entire city being down on the Texans when they lose. Like we're expected to lose all the time or that we're nowhere near contender status. Well, we're not going to be contenders if (1) we don't PLAY TO WIN and (2) if people stopped believing in the Texans. I guess as long as there are people here who give up on Houston teams, we'll never win a major championship in any pro sport ever again...
