GO PACK GO. I hate the Steelers. Did you see when Ben Roethlisberger got ghost-raped on that one play where he messed up his knee? That's karma for you. One second you're trying to throw a ball, the next second-- BOOM! Surprise buttsecks.

In related news, the Packers fans have made it into the West End. So much for tonight's plans. :p

Big CONGRATS to the Packers, they plain ol' beat us. I really admire the respect both teams showed each other, no trash talking, true champs. Classy. Not another team I would rather lose to in the Super Bowl. These are the two teams I have always wanted to see matched up in the big one, and although my team didn't win, I can honestly say that I am happy for Green Bay. Heck, they make the Terrible Towels up there.

I will say this, with head coach Mike McCarthy being from Pittsburgh (and still a Steeler fan per pre-game interview), and coaches Dom Capers, Kevin Greene , Scott McCurley, Darren Perry, Shawn Slocum, Tom Clements, and Ben McAdoo ALL having done time in Pittsburgh in some fashion, I don't hang my head low.

Well, one thing about the potential lockout next year is that they have two years to put together something that doesn't suck quite that much for the halftime show.

After his second interception I actually sent my friend a text that said, "Looks like Roethlisberger's the one getting raped now," and he responded with, "HeyOH!"

Well, by the second half kick I felt as if I had seen:
Christina Aguilera ruin the National Anthem
Green Bay's defense rape Roethlisberger (karma)
And a half time show that had to be designed by Axle Rose's publicist, as it proved why he should be the only person singing GnR songs.

Slash's participation in that travesty was almost as bad as when Jimmy Page teamed up with Puffy/Puff Daddy/Diddy/Piddle/Pee Pee/Sean Combs/whatever he goes by now for a destruction of Kashmir.

Christina Aguilera ruin the National Anthem

I DID wonder about that! I was listening to it (and apart from wondering why she seemed to have some slight roundness on her face that didn't seem to be there last time I noticed her on television) and thinking to myself:

"I'm sure that the National Anthem doesn't sound like that.....?!"

Also. Did she change the lyrics? I only ask because I use subtitles and it read "bombs will be..." which was correct as she did sing that. But I thought the national anthem didn't have that bit in?...

When they sing the National Anthem it is typically the first verse/stanza/whatever of "The Star-Spangled Banner." In fact, I have only heard the full version sung once.

The line, "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air," is still sung in the anthem. The song (poem, to later become song) was written by Francis Scott Key after he witnessed the bombing of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812 and only knew the US soldiers didn't give up by seeing glimpses of the flag through the lights from the bombs, and did not know the final outcome until morning when he saw the US flag still flying over the fort. The line is integral to the song's meaning.

Anyway, the lyrics she should have sang are:

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

But what she did sing (change in red bold):

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming.
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Basically, she lost her place in the song at the most popular singing of the National Anthem every year.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up.

It did make me wonder quite a bit initially.

....Can't quite think that it would have been slightly better with an opera singer though, makes it for a more rousing and better style.

Ha-ha! I missed it!

Now, normally as a patriot, I'd never pass up the National Anthem. But, I hate CA so damn much, I just couldn't stand the idea of watching that stank-bag sing, so I FFWD it.

When the right person (not Aguliera) sings it, the Star Spangled Banner gives me chills, even being a Canadian.

+1. The dude that sings the Blackhawks games and did the Bears/Packers one, was awesome! The best Super Bowl Nat Anthem still, to me, is the '91 Giants/Bills game when Whitney Houston (pre-crackhead) did it. That one does it for me. I keep waiting for someone to do it like that. I thought CA might, but then she's a freak, so I'm glad I missed it.

Thats funny you mentioned the Whitney Houston version (agreed), the day after the Super Bowl Wimp.com posted her version:

...and speaking of Wimp.com, have you seen this video of UConn's Johnny Mac? WOW!

L-O-C-K-O-U-T...

Terrible shame. This is a case of "Now what?" I've still been antagonistic over a number of things, especially the 18-game proposal. Looks like if the 2011 season is truly a lost cause, then the biggest level of football you'll be seeing will be college football. Very sad stuff.

Hopefully that court **** gets done quickly. I doubt it, but I hope so.

Anyway, time to become a college football fan. Just in time for me to transfer to a university! LOL.

My dad and I had a conversation about this and he brought up a good point. Who does this really affect? The players? No, they have big enough salaries they can live comfortably for a while. Who it does affect are everyone who has some sort of working association with the league. People like vendors or stadium workers, or local businesses who thrive off of the NFL fans. They are the ones who will suffer. As well as many of the owners. Not all team owners are like Jerry Jones or Paul Allen who can fall back on large fortunes. Many of them would not be making anything off of their big investment.

It's more than just are the salaries big enough. There are other big negotions that play a big part in the new CBA, such as the following:

Players allege that draft restrains the player's opportunity to fairly bargain to with all teams for employment by forcing them to sign with selected team and is therefore anti competitive. The NFL alleges that draft selection process is pro competitive because it ensures that bad teams have opportunity to draft good players and get better.

And because they can't come to an agreement on so many of these different things, the players have decided that they would be better off going to court and having it settled there.

I'm not sure what your talking about Omnis. The draft is a volunteery enrollment. If a player doesn't want to be chosen by a team, then he doesn't enter the draft and becomes a independent/undrafted free agent.

The ONLY thing that this lock-out/decertification nonsense is revolving around is MONEY. The Owners want a reduction in total revenue distribution, the players don't. Simples. It has nothing to do with the draft, 18 games schedule, health care, retirement benefits, etc.... Those things are all window dressing.

The owners want this new CBA out of the Minn courtroom and thus they called the players bluff to decertify; they bought time from last week to also enter into the record the players refusal to negotiate in good faith. Right now the owners have the onions to push. The players are winning the battle in the press because thats all they got.

Two months or less this thing gets done. Worse case by August. And what the owners offered which was a 12% cut in distribution is what will be agreed to. The players don't have any leverage. They don't own anything. Sure, the Owners will take a hit in public opinion, but the players have nothing to lose by their actions. They'll take a reduction in percentage of revenue, it's only a matter of how much, which means the owners will win in the end.

If players don't enter the draft they are effectively ruining themselves financially. Von Miller, for example, wouldn't be able to get the big money he deserves because he'd have to sign for UDFA pay.

They wouldnt get the big money immediately, if someone decides to become a free agent and not go through with the draft he can sign a one year contract with a contender for hundreds of thousands of dollars, prove himself and then resign with that team for a bigger contract in the offseason. I think that if you skip the draft or refuse to sign with the team that drafted you you have to sit out a year, happened to Bo Jackson, was drafted by Tampa Bay and refused to sign. To some people winning is more important than money.

And, as I said before, that's one of the things up for negotiation.

So glad I didn't apply to UCF. Those girls are crazy. /BrandonMarshallstabbing

The NFLPA are awesome!

/sarcasm

They're banking on Judge Nelson upholding they're contention that the lockout is against AntiTrust laws (which she probably will), only for the the big boys (pwners) to file in the 8th Court to get it appealed (which it probably will).

All of which means = 14 game season maybe. (and a crappy season cuz the bozo's won't be keeping in shape 'cuz they fighten the man' and DeMo's got they back'.)

End results of it all = Higher salary cap/floor; better player benefits; less practice time; higher ticket prices.

WE LOSE! So stupid it hurts.

I'm so glad that we still get to have the Draft! I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! YEAH!

The players have not voted on it, yet. And its.... a.... GO!! :D We got football this year! :D

I'm sorry, but this song is so correct its not even funny! :D:dopey: --- Randy ;)

Lockout go bye-bye. Players voted unanimously to accept the collective bargaining agreement. From Yahoo! Sports: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AlocstNIkdmXP9PTfXAAP2lDubYF?slug=ap-nfllabor

All the wheeling and dealing can now go on including all of the preseason, regular season, and postseason. Just no Hall of Fame game this season ("oh, darn!" for most people). Back to [gridiron] football, folks! Thoughts?
