HHHOOOORRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But seriously, it just wouldn't be life without football season.

Can't wait for the season to start, although as a Panthers fan, I have a strange feeling it's going to be another long year. :indiff:

You're a Panthers fan too? I just have to hope against hope that somehow Cam Newton can pull off a good year. I'd rather him start than Clausen. I can see Cam evolving into an elite run 'n gun QB.

Yeah I much rather Cam start then Clausen. If Steve Smith stays and they retain Deangelo Williams and can get back the running game the Panthers had a couple of years ago, that would make Cam's job alot easier.

And with our reputation as doormat of the division, I can see some gutsy coaching calls. I would love to see something like a flea flicker on occasion or something like an big option package run out of the shotgun with Cam.

I like the flea flicker, Cam's running ability brings alot of possibilities for trick plays, much like Vick and the Falcons/Eagles.

I just really want to see a shotgun package in the NFL. It would be so efficient. I would love to see Ray Lewis try to get a sack on a quick wide receiver screen, especially with the five yards extra leeway the shotgun gives.

I'm a Redskins fan, and have kept track of all their off-season moves. And let it be said, we're screwed. Mike Shanahan destroyed whatever potential was in this team when he switched our defense to a 3-4. The 100-million dollar Albert Haynesworth fiasco makes us look like jokes (as if the guys that dress up as the hogettes haven't already). We have a perennial backup John Beck starting at QB. If the Skins have any sense they will sign free-agent QB Matt Hasselbeck and start him. The best record this team could pull off is 6-10. Yet another season without the playoffs. Jim Mora could describe this team best: 'PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS? WE CAN'T EVEN WIN A GAME AND YOU'RE ASKING ABOUT THE PLAYOFFS?' and "How do you describe your team's performance? 'We suck.'" Hopefully we win all our games against the cowgirls. See what I did there? :sly:

As I said before they alot of possibilities for the Panthers this year but I'm a bit worried about having a rookie QB and new coaching staff and such a short training camp/pre-season.

I did see what you did there.

I think the cowboys a over-rated, Romo's coming of injuy's and outside of Austin and Bryant I don't see too much talent on the offense side.

The only thing I can think of is that we will be overlooked, which would help 👍.

The Texans have been middle of the road for some time. I can hope for my team that this is the year we emerge. We'd probably be a playoff team last season if we had an actual defense. I was damned mad at our losses. We made certain first-season players look like All-Pro material. The Texans need their defense to step the hell up so that all the heavy lifting doesn't have to be done by the offense. I still don't think we're ever going to win the AFC South. So we'll have to go for the AFC Wild Card as our most realistic playoff chance.

Back to football. Sounds great, doesn't it?

Jim Harbaugh is a rookie coach with an ugly team and little prep time. It's gonna be an ugly season for the 49ers. As with past recent years, I'll be picking a team or two to follow closely besides the 49ers because they seem hopeless again (can't wait for the Luck/Harbaugh reunion in 2012!). Last year it was the Falcons, this year it might be Falcons again and maybe the Ravens. I love the QBs from that '08 draft.

The fins will go after Luck. Watch...

Anyway, Harbaugh with the niners is just like Harbaugh with the cardinal. He's a damn good coach and will likely turn them into a winner. Singletary was a good position coach, but he was too looney to hold together a team.

My other team, the New York Football Giants, signed Mark Herzlich today. I hope he succeeds, after all he has been through. Can't wait to see him in the blue and white 👍.

I can disagree on that.

I think some signings to the secondary in the next two weeks, paired with the hiring of Wade Phillips could give the Texans a good chance at a 10-6 season.

Also, interesting story I read the other day, Arian Foster played the whole last year with an injured knee. If that's true, imagine how he'll be this year...

Also, the Colts have a bad situation at QB just like the Titans (unless they end up signing Hasselbeck). Manning is getting old, and there are concerns of his two surgeries affecting his performance this year. Plus, there are no good backups on that team.

The Titans are similar, with Young wanting out and only a rookie coming in to start. Jake Locker is also said to be overrated, but let that be decided on the field.

As for the Jags... We know how they are, they are in fact rebuilding but usually are a middle of the road team.

tl;dr I'm saying the Texans actually have a fighting chance with a pass defense.

 Colts have a bad situation at QB? Someone put something in your drink taggles. Peyton Manning is way better than Matt Schaub. Injured Peyton Manning is better than Matt Schaub. Wade Phillips is terrible. Last seasons Dallas Cowgirls is enough proof. The best the Texans will do is 9-7, Wildcard if they're lucky. As long as Peyton is QB in Indy, Houston is screwed.

He'll be the same. A big season at the RB position has as much to do with succesful blocking and gameplanning as it does a healthy RB. If anything, defenses will be more ready for it.

You're dreaming.

Jake Locker isn't overrated, but yeah, I don't see the Titans doing much this year regardless.

The Vikings are reported to be talking to the Redskins about Donovan McNabb, seems like a good move to me.

The Phins signed Pat Devlin! YES! He's going to be our Matt Cassel, just watch.

Ummm no. Hasselback is out in Seattle apparently (espn report) and I couldn't be happier. Very much overrated from that one Super Bowl run. I can't see any team winning anything with him behind center.

Colts are fine with Manning, how can anybody say a team is in trouble with him at QB. I think you lost a ton of credibility with that one small paragraph I quoted.

I agree. Donovan doesn't even have to be the star, he just needs to make the opposing defense respect the passing game. If they can manage to re-sign Rice (which I think the addition of McNabb will help) then you have a potent enough passing game to make it that much easier for Adrian Peterson to plow through another 2,000 yards of defense.

All I'm saying is, Manning isn't getting any younger. Surgery does in fact catch up to a player in the end.

And look at Schaub in the past two seasons, the stats are close to identical. Both seasons for each were around 4,500 yards, and ratings averaged out to roughly 95. Not saying Schaub is in and Manning is out, but give it a few years and he'll be the best in the AFC South.

Lastly, you're talking about Phillips as a head coach. He reminds me of Dom Capers in that sense. Phillips may be a bad head coach, but a great defensive coordinator. He was with the Chargers when they went 12-4 in 2004 and 14-2 in 2006.

It makes sense in a way. I'm not being a huge "Oh I'm from Houston so the Texans are the greatest!!!" type person, in fact, I was born and raised a Steeler. But seeing what's going on here in Houston, they have a shot.

P.S. Just look at the backup QB's in Indy (which is only Curtis Painter right now), check his stats and imagine if Peyton ended the season two weeks in with a major injury.

Aww, it looks like we lost Thigpen to Buffalo. Can't say I'm surprised. That means the whole "They offered a 3rd for Orton" thing is probably true. Kyle Orton... sigh. You're good, but I wanted to root for Andrew Luck.

What team are you a fan of Omnis? Sorry, I really only watch the Redskins, Colts and Lions on tv. I don't know much about the other teams.

Yep, he'll be another one of those delaware, division 2, quarterbacks that ends up a major NFL success. I was so pissed when Paterno kept starting Clarke and drove Devlin to transfer. Our last two seasons could have been so much stronger.

The Dolphins. You couldn't tell?

Also, Hasselbeck is now a Titan. Probably means Orton will be a Dolphin. They should try to get something for Chad Henne while they can. Maybe ship him to Arizona and pick up Adam Froman, The Sausage King of Louisville to hold down the 3rd QB spot until we can draft Andrew Luck. :p

All I'm saying as a Texans fan is that we stand no chance in the division if we can't consistently down the Titans and (especially) the Colts. The AFC South in the NFL is like the Southwest Division of the NBA's Western Conference, which my Rockets are in. You basically have to win the AFC South to show you're a contender. Speaking of the AFC South, I still become very surprised as to how evenly-matched the Texans and Jaguars are often times. I'm getting sick of seeing that once-in-a-lifetime play where we blocked what would have been an Overtime-forcing block until one Jag caught the ball. It's all part of the "Always Hate Houston" protocol.

My favorite game from this past season for the Texans was that game at the Redskins. That was a VERY rare time where we win in Overtime. It was a great game.

I care more about making the playoffs for my Texans more than I do going far into the playoffs. Got to get to the postseason before thinking about going far into the postseason. We got the team, but I think the Texans are more star-crossed than untalented. All I'm looking for from the Texans is consistency. Can they consistently play to win and find ways to win? That's what I'll be thinking about all season long for my Texans.

Rumors are they are in SERIOUS discussions. If that were to happen the secondary would be AIR tight! You'd have to throw 95% to the backs, tight-end and slot receivers. I like it! Rex & Mike T need to sit them both down and say "Hey, we want you to play together like you want to. Lets say you both take $10-$12 mil a year and get this thing done! Of course we won't have any depth so neither of you need to get hurt. But on paper we're tough!
