I'd just like to say, "Bwahahahaha!!!". What a great announcement! Mike Brown has FINALLY done ONE thing right in his life. I'm glad he chose to make this decision, which is an entirely new feeling in this town. Usually when ole brown bag head mike does something, it sucks.

The 2013 pick is conditional - it becomes a 1st rounder if the Raiders make the AFC Championship game this year or next year.

The Bengals are getting away with murder.

They dont have to get to the championship game, they get the 2013 1st if they win a playoff game this year. At least I dont think so, this is all according to ESPN. I wouldnt be surprised if they got it wrong, I dont trust ESPN much for sports news.

A bag of popcorn would have been a good trade, this trade is just silly good news for Cincy regardless of whether the 2013 pick is first or last. I might actually have to try to get a ticket from a scalper outside the next home game. 15 bucks is a much fairer price than what the box office wants for em. :)

Wow, the Raiders gave a up a first round pick and conditional 2013 pick to the Bengals for Carson Palmer? :boggled:

What a steal for the Bengals.

Damn, at that exchange rate, the 'Fins could have gotten two second-round picks from the Raiders for Chad Henne. Or some sports memorabilia.

Congrats, Vandy. This is what you have to look forward to:

We do have a good o-line, and a good running game, so if we utilise Beck in a run-heavy offense we can minimize the risks associated with starting Beck. Plus Beck can run. So I feel we will beat Carolina (who has a terrible defense). After that its anyones guess.

That's okay, we got Sage Rosenfelds back! :indiff:

To be fair, I did personally see him lead the Dolphins back from a 23-point deficit in the late-third quarter, to a one-point last minute win against the Bills in 2005...so I'm very obviously blinded to anything truthfully negative that has dogged his career since then.

And to think Cleo Lemon won the starting job from John Beck back in 2007...although that had more to do with the Ravens mysteriously tanking a very potential win by going for a touchdown instead of a field goal, and Rick Camarillo making the most heroic play of the entire season than anything else.

I didn't get my information from ESPN.

You can't be run-heavy unless defenses are forced to respect the passing threat. If John Beck isn't effective then the effectiveness of the run game goes down the tubes. It doesn't matter how good your o-line is if the linebackers can come up and stuff out the run. You don't win games with 2 or 3 yards per carry. Furthermore, you can't just keep running it because running backs can't take that kind of a beating. Do you really think your RBs will stay off the IR when they have to carry the ball 30+ times a game? No way, Jose.

Beck needs to be effective and he needs to be effective immediately. The Redskins will get lit up by Carolina.

Sage Rosenfels develops into a franchise QB in Madden 2003.

John Beck was quite handy too in Madden 2006 (or was it 2007?), I got a few good years out of him in franchise mode.

Let me check my spreadsheets boys! Okay, in Madden 08, Beck Starts the first year with a 71 rating and ends it with around 79-82. Second year increases to 86, third 91, labelled Franchise QB. In Madden 07 Jim Sorgi can become a Franchise QB. Its a pain in the ass but you can do it. Oh, also can be done with Seneca Wallace .

Edit: Spacegoat, John Beck was a rookie in Madden NFL 08, as was Jamarcus Russell (who had a crazy wicked arm).

Don't dare utter Sage Rosenfels. I still remember that dope blowing a 17-point lead for my Texans trying to be too much of a hero. Best wishes to him, but reading/seeing "Sage Rosenfels" brings up bad memories as a Texans fan.

I remember that one...was rooting for him, even though my Fins are a perfect doughnut-for-entirety against the Texans.

I've always felt that Sage Rosenfels was capable of better football. He's similar to Brady Quinn in that respect. The kinda guy that looks like Joe Montana in practice and camps but lays a turd on the field on gameday.

Similar to what John Beck could (more likely will) do. In practice he looks excellent, and in the preseason he brought his game to the table. I'm so anxious to watch the Redskins-Panthers game, because if he does well, he'll stay the starter for the rest of the season. If he messes up then the team looks like a bunch of idiots.

When Sage was a Dolphin, he would do Bar Mitzvahs on his days off. That's franchise-quarterback right there.

Heh, Rex Grossman.

Fun fact about the Seahawks game this Sunday. Current coach Pete Carrol, past Seahawks coach now commentator Jim Mora, and past Seahawks coach now GM of Cleveland Mike Holmgren are all going to be involved in the same game. The coaches of the same team on all three sides of the game.

Sorry for DP, but I figured this probably wouldn't be read if it was tacked on as an edit.
Typical referees. They call back our punt return TD on a bull penalty, and then the very next play let the Browns get away with an INT after manhandling our receiver. The announcers even call bull on the penalty. The guy clearly fell down and was not shoved from behind. They need to do their job and not have such a negative influence on our team.

Seahawks-Browns game is terrible. No offense at all. With the amount of kicking/punting Europeans would actually consider it true football (What we call soccer). This game shouldn't have even been televised.

Agreed. It's the only televised game on right now and I turned it off...... That's sad.

I swear that the Browns have dropped 20 passes that they shouldn't have. And Moore caught a 15-yard pass. And imitates the refs first down sign. The whole world knows this, what the hell is he doing?
