That is the best situation for him, because no NFL team wants him.
That's not true. I'm sure there are teams that want him. Just because they weren't there at the workout isn't a true barometer of interest. They didn't show up because they already know who Owens is and what he brings to the table. The whole point of it was to prove he's not injured and they can get all that information from the tapes that Drew Rosenhaus sent out to them. If a team did show up, then you invite attention. Press conference questions "are you guys signing T.O?" Locker room questions "Are you worried that T.O. might spoil your locker room if he shows up?" "Do you think he'll take your spot on the WR Depth Chart?" etc. etc.
Also, by not going, teams aren't tipping their hand to other teams. Let's say the 49ers, the Seahawks, and the Rams all showed up and none of those teams had any intention of signing. Guess what? The Broncos decide they want him. So once Denver calls Rosenhaus to say they want him, he gets to play this pretend game of interest by saying that all of those NFC West teams are interested and that will then result in Denver having to pay a higher price.
Look, NFL teams aren't stupid. Terrell Owens will be the oldest wide receiver in the game if a team were to sign him, but come on. He almost had 1000 yards last year for the Bengals and he's only behind Jerry Rice in most career receiving stats.
I'm not saying he'll sign with a team tomorrow, but it's crazy to think that no team is interested. He's a freak athlete and he's going to be a First-Ballot Hall-of-Famer. Just off the top of my head, I would not be the least bit surprised to see him get calls from Buffalo, San Francisco, Minnesota, Tennessee, Washington, or even Texas. Teams with WR injuries
and a shot at the playoffs this season.
He's loud. He's annoying. I can't stand him. He's also one of the best wide receivers of all time and you just can't ignore that, no matter what ESPN tries to turn into a story.
