"I am happy to announce that next week you will get a chance to test drive Need for Speed Shift 2 from EA at the Cebit in Hannover / Germany.

The show starts on Tuesday 1st of March.

EA shows the game at the booth of the ESL in hall 23 on 20 game stations equipped with a PWGT3RS with CSP.

Fanatec also shows the RennSport Cockpit E-Motion. A full motion cockpit with triple screens.

There is also the chance to see Team Redline Fanatec live as they compete in the Intel GP series for the best iRacer in Hall 23.

I will be there and perhaps we see us."

My biggest problem is,how is Shift2 gonna feel with G27,or has Sony crippeled it completely like in GT5.Cars behaves like total arcade+that brake thing. Are racing days with G27 in PS3 over?

As an 'aussie' who has seen many a race at Bathurst, yes, the track is waaaay too wide!

Back to Bathurst being too wide in the game, exactly what section(s) of the track do you mean? Mountain Straight seems more than ok to me. Three cars can easily fit side by side in both pics so surely the whole circuit isn't wrong. The thing is, I compared Mark Skaife's 2010 hotlap video with Shift's Day Track 2 gameplay footage and fail to see any shocking difference. Maybe it's just me but maybe there's nothing so scandalous in this game's rendition of the track either.

I usually get a chance to drive around Bathurst once a year and to be honest, it isn't all that narrow. On non-race day's it's a public two laned road the whole way round, so even at it's narrowest, it's still two car's wide.

It actually looks more narrow in Shift 2?

If the physics dont screw everything up, I m so getting this game! It does everything right where GT5 severely lacked. March is gonna be a loooong month. :D

That's an old video, one of if not the first that showed any in-game stuff. From the first round of motor show previews they did.

I am so glad that I bought a set of turtle beaches now! I got them for playing call of duty mainly, so I could sound whore (which makes a huge difference), but with this game coming out and the amazing sounds I have heard so far, my turtle beaches are going to be jamming my ears off.

Shift Unleashed is looking absolutely amazing so far but one thing could spoil it for me: is there a limited number of cars you can have in your garage? This was a major fail in the first installment. I truly hope they won't repeat it: getting all drives available is a challenge in itself that gamers shouldn't be denied.

That would be a huge letdown AnPrionsaBeag, I hadn't even thought about that issue. hopefully they have made changes in that area, I like to have all sorts of different cars, even if they are for the same type of even or track.

No, they're the exact same sections, trust me. You can see for yourself in the videos I mentioned. The angle is different but there's not much I can do about it.

It certainly doesn't look any wider... I do wonder where that idea of the widened track comes from, though.

From here:

Fact this guy can't drive just emphasizes my statement since you can clearly see the width of the rack in uphill section when he drives in low speed.

Whole track is widened, but especially the most dramatic section of Mt. Panorama from Quarry to Forest's Elbow. We can argue about FOV, camera placement, perception issues, etc., but that special part of Bathurst is famous just because it is tight, dangerous and tight. In Shift 2 it is not tight.

Onboard video:

Yes the track is wider in the game, the reason why I believe they did this is because of fun factor. It just wouldn't be that fun to most people if they would have a really hard time trying to pass on that track, but with it wider so you could pass then it brings the fun value up for allot of people. I see all the people complaining about the game, if you don't like it then why are you wasting your time and energy looking at the game or complaining about it on here? If you don't like it then simply don't visit the thread and don't debate buying it.

In the Shift video ts seems that 4 cars fit the track and in the second video (IRL) it seems theres only space for 3.
I also think it would have been better if the track was more faithfull to RL.
Yes Im also complaining and Im going to buy the game - shoot me for expressing my opinion if you wish

So, SMS EA should stop claiming "Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed, this is real racing" :)
they better use "Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed, this is funny racing"

Every company has some sort of slogan to try to say their game is better than others, GT the "real racing simulator", no it is for sure not a real racing simulator, should they change what they say as well? No. Its just a slogan. If any game was a true sim for racing it just wouldn't sell in large amounts because it would be way to hard for 90% percent of the people that play racing games. I raced 125cc shifter Karts for years and if they made a shifter kart racing game that was true to life hardly anyone would be able to play the thing, it would just be frustrating to most people. I would rather have a game that I can play and enjoy with it being realistic to a certain point, just like every "serious" racing game has been thus far. There are options to change to make it more sim though, so if you get it turn off all the aids and put it on the hardest setting and post a video of you just dominating the track since it will be so unrealistic it shouldn't be hard to do that right? And if you aren't planning on getting it then why are you even reading this thread? And if you are, well I don't know why you would since you seem not to like the game at all.

They are claiming "real racing" but we didn't see it yet.. slogan? No, not only, we saw tons of super uber suspensions telemetry but gameplay videos were disappointing if you consider sim aspect. As you can read arcade fans seems to be very happy:
I've played Shift Demo and it looks to me that was indeed an Arcade style game. And i want that in Shift 2. When i watch those movies it looks exactly like Shift one and i want exactly that :>)
They are looking for a different product than sim players, they have all the rights to be happy with and do not care about the lack of sim features, but for sim crowd is different. The only thing left that can save this game for us will be the misterius "elite mode" our last chance to have fun with another serious "sim" on the ps3. I bought GT5 because is the best for my console but if somebody else as SMS/EA are claiming, are going to sell another sim for ps3 you can understand it's going to catch my attention. Of course it MUST be a sim, not only an arcade (?) game with PR marketing claiming it's going to be... a sim. It's not about love or hate, I hope this will help to make things clear now.

The Unleashed Bathurst is no wider. It is a racing track in real life, cars can and do pass in real races. Why on earth would they need to make it any wider? What about Monaco? If they did make Bathurst wider, then Monaco streets must look like the Autobahn! Plus, Shift's Nordschleife already looked true to life, same as GT5's, and if ever a track needs widening for passing, then sure surely this would be it. Some here seem to be trying hard to find bad sides to a game that, apart from some minor glitches, looks and sounds very promising. GT5 syndrome again?

I think the wider look comes just from the wider field of view. If you see the track through a camera set up in a car in reallife it feels more narrow but if you see it through your own eyes it looks way wider even if it isn't. Well let the people attack the game. I buy it and I enjoy it no matter what everyone else says. And the "This is Real Racing" slogen fits for me. As much I like GT5 but for me its just an emotionless static driving simulator that doesn't represent the feeling of being in a sports/racecar in anyway. Sound wise and presentation wise. Everyone has it's own vision of a simulator. But I prefer Shifts way.
