Oh Mr. President you have the wisdom of Solomon

I asked Mo to do some laps of Donington GP (I forgot to mention Mo)
??????

All cars must be saloon or hatch back with 2.0ltr engine.
Is there a list that we can go to to filter the cars so that they meet this accomidation?

In real life BTCC cars are loaded with ballast to even things up. And we have the 3 stages of weight reduction.
If there Is a huge variation In lap times an option Is to take advantage of this with the faster driver having the slower car.
I don't see any way to police the litle adjustment to that handicap

The ring event Is a defiante and will include stock or bonus cars.
And the GT2 cup, The season winner will choose the car for the next seasons cup.
I guess I missed a ref. to the GT2 cup. What is it?

---------------------- just thinking out loud ---------------------------
I think I stumbled on to a equalization system when I replied to Mitsu. and here is my idea >

There has to be a qualifying system done on the day of the race, everyone who wants to race has to be in the qualifiers / Time Trial Challenges. The winner of the first TTC gets 1 pt. and sets a max time threshold. The lobby collapses and the winner comes back as the new host.

Everyone returns to check in. After they have checked in anyone except the host can leave to add speed to their car but those who left and then returned can’t move the time threshold only get close to it or tie it. If they go faster then the time threshold they lose a point and become the new host, the threshold is moved up and it starts all over again. Only the people who didn’t leave the lobby and raced in the next TTC moving the threshold up can get a point, and yes they become the new host. This goes on until everyone is satisfied with their times relative to the threshold.

Here comes the catch, the time threshold is set for the race by the qualifiers. The winner of the race is actually the first person to cross the finish that didn’t crack the threshold in their fastest lap record for the race. All racers who didn’t crack the threshold finish in front of any racer who did crack the threshold.

I see where you're coming from Left. While it seems a little hard to grasp, I think we all could handle it! The only thing that would worry me is 'sandbagging' in the time trials. Say, a driver is approaching the last few corners of a course....knows he'll breakout time-wise....and then buggers a curve "by accident."

I am by no means accusing anyone currently racing in the league of being this type of person, just thinking out loud with ya!!

LOL Lefty Is grilling me.

Due to a signed contract with the GTP press. This Is all I'm allowed to answer.

This Is what mighty Mo has come up with.

10 or a bit under point cars
-EVO 10 rating: 9,9 422BHP (not maximum upgraded)1:13:5
-EVO 9 rating: 9,8 478BHP (maximum upgraded) and tuned..1:11:1
-VW Scirocco rating: 9,7 328BHP (works)1:13:7
-VW Golf rating:5, 7 307BHP (maximum upgraded)1:17:0
-Seat Leon rating: 9,79 368BHP (works)1:13:5
-Mazda RX8 rating: 9,73 428BHP (not maximum upgraded)1:13:1
-Focus ST rating: 6,2 338BHP (maximum upgraded)1:15:5
-Renault Mégane rating: 9,0 356BHP (works)1:13:2
-Honda civic rating: 6,1 378BHP (maximum upgraded)1:14:4
- Audi S4 rating: 9,21 632 BHP (maximum upgraded)1:11:1
-Escort cosworth rating: 8,29 360BHP(works)1:13:3

Any testing Is good It's interesting to see what different cars do on a circuit.
Mo has gone to work on 6 point cars now.
So we can choose the selection of cars, But with how close those lap times are I like the 4 cars that are grouped.
I was hoping to keep It not to fast but close and competitive just like the real thing.
keeping It at the 2.0 mark achieves this.
Touring cars are 4 door saloons or hatch backs so the leon, Evo, Focus ST fit the bill, But the car selection can be compromised. (as I like the 4 grouped above)

I guess I missed a ref. to the GT2 cup. What is it?
A race In a Porshe GT2 the winner of the season will pick the cup car for next season.

We could employ the reverse grid option For race three,
This Is how It's done In BTCC. A wheel is spun to decide at which place the grid is 'reversed'. This means drivers finishing 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th or 10th in race two could take pole position for race 3 depending on the outcome of the draw. For example, if the spinning wheel stops at position 7, the driver finishing in 7th position in race two starts on pole, 6th place starts in second place, 5th place starts in third etc. Drivers finishing in 8th place and beyond would start race three in their finishing order for race two. The draw is normally conducted by the winner of race two, unless this driver is competing for the championship at the final meeting.

Obviously we have no wheel, We would reverse the whole grid.

Add, what four cars were you thinking of? To me, looks like-
EVO 10 rating: 9,9 422BHP (not maximum upgraded)1:13:5
VW Scirocco rating: 9,7 328BHP (works)1:13:7
Seat Leon rating: 9,79 368BHP (works)1:13:5
Renault Mégane rating: 9,0 356BHP (works)1:13:2
Renault Mégane rating: 9,0 356BHP (works)1:13:2
Escort cosworth rating: 8,29 360BHP(works)1:13:3
--Looks like these cars are all pretty close! Which were you considering?

Also, about the reverse grids. Doesn't Shift randomly choose grid position? How would we skirt that issue?

Otherwise, this is veeery exciting!!!! Can't wait!

PS- Anyone else having trouble with the Supra for this weekends' races? I just can't find a good, planted setup!

There is no ideal setup for that car lol
but if it helps, tomorrow I'll post my setup, maybe it fits for you mate

I think Jay talked about the works cars

Today I haven't got enough time to test the 6 rated cars, maybe on saturday.

Jay, you said some other cars can be added to the saloon cars.. if it is not a problem , I would like to add the BMW E36 to the cars' list. I need at least 1 rwd car.. is this ok? I'll test what rating and upgrades make this car enough slow to the 10 rated saloon cars.

All them works cars look good together.
As for the grid positions we could have 1 lap to get into position, Then have a standing or rolling start.
We have mics and If people don't I'm sure they'll here someone screem "goooooo" through there TV.
Ok Mo an d thanks again.

The way that it is set up to counter “SANDBAGGING” if someone is trying to sandbag, that driver is setting a time threshold and everyone tries to hit that time by adding speed to their cars each time the leave the lobby. They can do anything they want to do to it but they can’t break the threshold or it is moved, etc… The threshold will at some point stop moving and the race could start.

In drag racing where the phrase “SANDBAGGING” comes from it’s easy to do for a short period of time, 1 pass, but try to due it for 8 events ( laps ) in a row. He can’t go over the time and everyone else has the car to hit the time also, anybody who is not sandbagging and set their car up right to hit that threshold will win if they go max out and hit the time every lap.

Aah, so you're saying that if, after the race, one driver posts a fastest lap quicker than the threshold time, he's DQ'd?

Things are getting really complicated...:ill:
I guess that old routine 3 cars 3 tracks and RACE ,may the fastest driver win is kind of...dead?:indiff:

No, anyone who cracks the threshold finishes behind everyone who didn’t. All the crackers finish in their order behind ea other, example:
THRESHOLD 1:18.3
Fin Order _______TIMES__________ADJ FO POS
A-1_____________1:18.0__________A-2
B-2_____________1:18.4__________B-1
C-3_____________1:17.9__________C-3

Everyone who finished still finishes, it's just the FO that is adjusted
B was the only one who didn't break the threshold, he wins.

The greatest races in NASCAR have always been close races, I think that if you ask anyone who races " what are your greatest racing memories? " they will always talk about there neck and neck finishes

After a while that can become boring and people add comments/suggestions to change things up a bit. I like the idea of racing "matched" cars as that will let people choose a car that suits their driving style, however keep the competition close.

Jay is right, the most memorable races for me have been the close battles where positions get traded over and over - EVEN IF YOU DON'T FINISH FIRST. Otherwise you end up by yourself and it begins to feel like a time trial.

It's sounds too complicated for me too.. must to fresh up my english knowledge lol

Why don't we select a car that is as fast as it needs to get a close race?
On the first week we make a time trial, and we stop when everybody runs the almost same time with the car he chose. for example , i chose a bit slower car when i got faster times than somebody else.
If we always use the same car, every event will be close .
After the first season we change the cars if somebody get faster after it.

simple, fast,no difficult rules

opinions?

In drag racing they have classes that are time based that’s all, a system of qualifying is done to equalize the cars and drivers then they race. If the time is truly a time that only one person can hit and everyone else is right on top of it, that ends any the issues of sandbagging, or superior driver capability. Now the only question is consistency and close racing is the outcome, because of what was established earlier by the qualifiers, and the penalties for cracking the time mark.

It's just brain storming

That works for me too! I could definately pick a car out that I'd like to drive for a whole season (Porsche!!) and I'm sure everyone else would be able to without trouble! Plus, I can actually spend some time on doing a cool paintjob on her too!

I just don't want to spend my whole Saturday in qualifying, I'd rather just be racing! That's my only request. I'd do a big-wheel race if thats what you guys want!

Big-Wheel_MotorBike.jpg

I’m all good with what ever way we go. I just think that qualifying is a method that shows where everyone is at on a given day. When 5 time world open class MX champion Roger DeCoster was asked by a reporter after winning a race “ hows it feel to be the fastest man world?” he replied “ I was the fastest man in the world today”

roger-decoster.jpg

Like i said, limit tuning. set a certain gear ratio and tire pressure everyone runs then we share tunes and whoever is fastest is just fastest. If someone's suspension tune is better than the other so be it. Everyone has a preference, over/understeer. Gear ratios reduce someone accelerating better or having a higher top speed. Tire pressures reduce someone having better front of rear grip due to tires. The suspension is left open for those who want a faster or slower turn in/etc.

So Jay?

What do you think?

A few ideas have been posted, but someone have to decide which will we use...

All ideas are good for me, the closer the races the more fun it will be, but if we brainstorming for weeks we'll never start the season lol

Today I'll post the 6 rated cars times, than we can decide wich category we want to use. We pick a few cars which are good enough for the touring cars championship, decide the handycap rules and than maybe we can start the season.

EDIT: I've tested some 6 rating car, but after this, I vote to stay at 10 rated guys.
The first reason: there is too much combination of upgrades on each car, hard to controll who use which one..
The second: 10 rate cars look to give more fun to drive lol

And, Ive tested the BMW E36. with maximum upgrades (no works) on 9,64 points.
It is a car for the people who needs handycap lol
It is very ticky, hard to controll, but if you practice enough you can get under 1:14!
I think this fits to the cars list.

Well, we had an interesting weekend lol
I enjoyed the races, except the 3rd one where I had DC, and the 1st one, where I wanted to be too fast and had a lot of mistakes..
Sorry from Shark, I hitted him in the tunnel, I was faster but was too optimist lol
I'm interested who has the fastest laptime here.. (Lefty, what happened t you on the lead? You were fast as hell, and suddenly I saw you on the side of the track.. man I was sure nobody can beat you there

At Donnington I had luck when Jay went to the grass and I managed to get in pos 2, and after it I could get over Shark when he had problems with his wheel. I loved that combination, a very good and ejoyable car on a fantastic track!

On Port Boucle, it happened what I was afraid of.. Lefty thought he can go through the walls lol, and those blue thing made a chaotic race.
I had luck that Lefty cought the blue things every time:)

Can anybody send me screenshots of the race results for race 1 and 3? My cam was froozen up (as ussual..) and got no video of race 1 and got dc on lap 7 in race 3

And please tell me if anybody got dc (wich race in what lap)
(could anybody go a faster lap on Monument Loup than 44:154?)

I'm sorry I couldn't race you guys, G/F having the baby tomorrow morning, been helping out with getting the house ready. I should be on this weekend though. Since he's a newborn there won't be much to do with him unless he starts crying, but she can help him as much as I can. I'd like to know the combos so I can start on my cars asap, we'll be in the hospital until thursday more than likely. It's a long stay but I should be on the pace when the races come around. I just need to know the cars/tracks.

Congrats Fresh, 👍 it sounds like your our newest dad with a little buck-aroo. I don't think you could pass out the cigars to this bunch, so I like to welcome you to the Long Horn Club.....

Not necessarily a 'new' dad. I have two other children with other women, long story made short they didn't work out. So this is another kid, but a 'new' baby nonetheless. Maybe this time around it'll work out! But thanks for the congrats.

Thanks Lefty!

If nobody can send me a screenshot of race 3 results, I'll not be able to give Fastest lap points..

The racess from my view:

Donnington
Part1

Part2

Loup

Port Boucle
Part1

Part2

Mo I have no idea of my postion let alone my lap time lol.

OK Jay, as you wish.
I'll send you the updated leaderboard later today.

May I ask if you have any idea for this week's (last round of this season) combo?
Or any news about the BTTC thing?

Oh, I just see You've allready posted the next week's races.
Just 1 question: wich Autopolis?

I think this is the 6th week Jay.

If you will off for 2 weeks, and this is the last week of season, what will we do for 2 weeks? lol

Any other challange guys? A Porsche cup with the Reward GT3 RSR? Or any other idea?

Yo Mo: I'm watching your Port Boucle video now and the first thing that hit me was, in the first turn when I was driving I never hit those blue things and in your video you showed that I blasted them. lol the game is totally WACKED in the way that two different events can occur in two different realities. When we got to lap 5 we went through turn 1 again and your vid showed me launching a blue mortar perfectly on to your windshield, then I heard one of the most humorous things I've heard in a long time. With passion and stress you dropped the "F" bomb, L O LLllll dude I about fell over laughing, sorry......lol, but you used the English vernacular not your native expletive. Should I take that as a compliment or does the English version just sound nastier.........lol.......lol..

Dude the video was very racy and a knock down drag out, I going to grab it and stitch it into my video to make it a great event.
