No love for the Controller?

So I have noticed that ALOT of people use a steering wheel set up. That's pretty cool. One question: What about the controller? Does any one have any love for it, or are you saving up to ditch the classic for something more "up-to-date"?

P.S. I gots the love for my controller. Do You?
 
More up to date? I got my wheel & cockpit 12 years ago!
 
DS3 here. I just cannot drive with a wheel.

I got love for the DS3! I've seen people drive really smooth with it, which is hard to do in most cases (especially drifting). I use a wheel (since Prologue) but I don't talk down or think I'm superior than DS3 users. A wheel is just a different experience for the game, very different!

You use what you got! Not everyone has the money for a wheel, does it make them bad drivers, no, does it mean they suck, no, they just use a different means to drive. True it can be much easier to drive with, but like I said, "you use what you got".

I was about done with GT5 after 6 months,then my buddy talked me into a G27. Now playing everyday since. Makes it a whole new game! In fact i Just received my momo wheel upgrade and derek spears adapter,can't wait to test it out! Don't get me wrong,been playing since GT1 with a controller but having a wheel that is supported is the best!
 
I use DS3, although I do have DFGT. Thing is... I have no set-up for the DFGT, and I haven't used it in about a year so I'm pretty crap with using it... although I'm thinking of teaching myself to use it again with a coffee table as my set-up. :indiff:
 
I've been DS3 since GT1, and haven't looked back. A wheel sounds fun, but the controller is home to me, and I'm not suffering because of it. Sure, I'm not in the top 1000 in the tt's, but would a wheel really put me there? For me, it is about having fun and controlling my environment.

Current 600pp TT leader is using a DS3 so it's no handicap.
 
DS3, no money for a wheel, but I have no problem driving without aids or drifitng,

Every single one that can go flying into a barrier at any speed and suffer no damage whatsoever.
 
I can throw a controller much farther than I could ever throw a wheel!..:sly: j/k.

My brother lent me his wheel unit(G27?) for a week one time and I really didn't progress nearly as well as I thought I would. My times simply weren't catching up with my DS3 times.

The biggest hurdle though was the set-up. I had jerry-rigged the whole process as I knew it was only a short term deal and I didn't have the luxury of really getting comfortable with it.

That said, I am quite happy with my DS3 and have no plans at all to buy a wheel system.

Now, now. That's only because damage is disabled. In proper sim mode those cars that hit the barrier at 70 mph will have to drive back to the pits while pulling a bit to the side. Which is rather difficult with their built-in DS3 control mechanisms. The ones that hit the barrier at 150 will even have to do so slowly, which is... actually probably easier.

I don't have any rooms in my house large enough or any sort of realistic platform I could mount the wheels, pedals and simulated gear box onto. It's a shame but what can one do if he or she has no room for it? It doesn't mean you cant enjoy Gran Turismo.

Ds3 here. But I think driving with a wheel actually makes you faster. (if you know how to use one).

No room here even if we were rich. Well, not unless we want our aged (like us) friends & family to think we're completely weird with a cockpit set-up in the living room. :sick:

It's not because you need one, right? It's for aesthetic immersive experience, right?

Me... I'm not too keen to make things very immersive. :lol: I already get car sick at Indy Road Course & online racing on Eiger dirt tracks. :sick: :indiff:
But thinking of wearing a seat belt in my house in front of a tv... I don't know. I'm picturing something happening in the household where I need to stand up quick - forget the seatbelt is on, and wind up driving off the track in the race whilst knocking a bunch of stuff over in the house. :lol: :boggled: :nervous: :sly:

I was curious to see if the DS3 still had some people that love it. Not to mention it's a plus that a top 600pp tt driver uses a DS3. Kudo's Big time

Currently a DS3 user since my wheel is down for repairs... Used a controller all the way from GT3 until halfway through GT5's career mode and then bought the wheel. I prefer the wheel... a lot..., but I can still use the controller. After using a wheel though, I hate the controller. not enough steering input.
 
I think once you make the move to a wheel you defiantly lose some pad love..
I no people who have got a wheel, and sold it with in 3 days because they where not faster with it!! You have to give the wheel time and respect.. And in the end you will see your lap times drop a lot!
I will never play with the pad again in my house as long as my wheel is there.. Yet if I'm at a friends ill use it for some fun!
But at the end of the day, don't forget where you came from.. That ds3 has been good to you over the years :-)

Well said. I'm a wheel user myself but I can remember having some pretty epic races with my DS3 before I got my wheel. I have this saying that I use jokingly about myself. "A legend was born on a DS3 but now lives on a G27" lol.
 
I use ds3 and more than hold my own online, I would love a wheel set up but don't have room for that sort of rig. Dose a wheel really make you faster? I race and beat both ds3 and wheel in equal amounts so I'm not sure a wheel is any faster at all
 
Took over a week of solid 6 hours a day driving to get faster than my DS3 times but the DFGT is amazing. You really can feel the road.
