No love for the Controller?

I have a G27. Looking to get a seat around the holiday season. Hopefully I can find one for cheap.

I race in a couple of leagues here on GTP and my team mate is a DS3 user. He is usually putting out faster lap times than me. I still wouldnt go back though.

When I first started out I was faster with the DS3. Just took some getting used to before I started getting fast with a wheel.

There are some fairly simple methods to building your own cockpit that work well and are quite affordable, but might lack the flair and finish of a quality custom build or off the shelf model. I scored a free captains chair from a mini-van that is very comfortable and the rest of my set up is custom but definitely not high end and I bought it used for $50. Solid, fully adjustable pedals and steering mount, it does the job and I'm very comfortable at the same time. I even have armrests!!!

I have used both extensively, and achieve faster times with the wheel. However, the DS3 is more "fun", the wheel is harder work, literally. You can't recover from going "over the edge" with a wheel like you can with the DS3.

The wheel is easier in sense that it's more intuitive if you are an experienced driver in the real world. If you apply the realworld mindset to using a wheel in the sim, you can push your boundaries to the limit far more realistically than with the DS3.

Having said that, I use the DS3 more often than not, because of the aforementioned fun factor, of being able to overstep the mark and still recover with some grace, lol.

Don't really care about times or even winning. Love the driving experience.

In short, both wheel and DS3 have their place.
 
I use a controller.. Stopped using the wheel after my last one where i stomped the gas too hard in a fit of adrenaline and smashed the accelerator chip/mechanism off the pedal and out the bottom.. Yeah that was the first time i used it too.. Cheap piece of 🤬
