Another question... if the pre-season races are 25 laps long, how many laps are the real season races going to be??

First post updated.

On an unrelated note, I have a question to those who did well a Suzuka. I was losing a lot of time on 130R, and noticed others were taking it a lot faster than me. Were you guys taking it flat out? Were you running high downforce? I had to tap the beaks to stay on the track.

Yeah if you're doing less than 155 MPH through 130R you're not doing it right :) I was never flat out but while my tires were good I was able to just barely lift, hit the apex perfectly and stay above 155 MPH. This is possible in any GT500 car BTW.

yeah, thats what i thought...probably need to up my downforce...shame on my lack of preparation (I literally just used the car like I bought it). I was nearly 20 MPH slower :nervous:

I could do it flat with the perfect entry, most of the time it only required a slight lift of the gas to point the car in the right direction, never tapping the brakes.
I run High downforce.

Same here as I was running out of tires though I had to start letting go of the gas for longer. I think we should do Fugi or Tokyo for our next race.

Even within the power and weight limit, is it still faster? I may do some testing, but if someone else has done so already it would be appreciated. However, if you guys just want it banned, we can just do that.

I did quite a bit of testing at 500 hp - NISMO Z vs GT-R vs NSX. I found the NSX and Z to be the fastest with the NSX being the most difficult to handle. The GT-R was the easiest to handle, very well balanced but marginally slower in a single lap. The NISMO Z handling was better than NSX but worse than the GT-R, the Z has more understeer and coming out of corners it has a tendency to just snap (which happened to me 3 times in the race at Suzuka). These are very subjective ratings, depending on your driving style they may not apply to you at all.

Anyway I'd prefer to have the Z just banned as opposed to trying to come up with some kind of handicap because if we keep it some people will continue to whine that it has an unfair advantage until the handicap is so large the car has no chance of winning. Personally I'll be just as happy in a GT-R as long as it lays all 'unfair advantage' accusations to rest.

With regards to the ballast system, one possibility would be:

For every win add 10 kg ballast. It could be checked at the start of the race by requiring those with ballast assigned to join while weight limits are set higher. Just a suggestion.

Any other opinions on the Z? Right now I am leaning towards banning it.

I will work on a success ballast system and update the first post.

Tokyo actually sounds like a fun race for the second preseason race. What do you guys think?

That sounds great... same laps same time right?

Yeah, same time next saturday. I think laps are about the same length, so it should be about the same.

For you guys who wanted the ring, I'll make sure to throw one into the season.

hey i'm guessing the guy with the unknown car missed the race today... is it possible u can put my partner in the competition? (HE IS IN THE WAITING LIST)

I just missed this first pre-season race, I'm not dropping out. I'll be there next weekend and for the season. I was sick all week, I'll post my car in the next day or so.

BTW: good call on banning that Z. I don't think I'd mess with any ballast system though.

Yeah sorry bro, I though u weren't going to show.

There has been little feedback on the NISMO Z so far. Everyone please chime in one way or another. I'm going to stay neutral since I'm using the car right now.

anyone?

I would lift a little and drop into 5th gear for the 13R kink. Its a place where you have to "hustle" a bit. I used the run-off once or twice after missing it.

The Z is way faster, and if you allowed them to enter first they could lie I believe about the weight on the car, so I dont know we can do the ballast.

I vote for the Z being banned. All other cars, okay.

I lean towards Nurburgring, but Tokyo is a decent track for these cars.

RT 246 is gonna be a fun track...i know we are going to do mostly real world tracks...but i wouldn't mind seeing a few others during the season...

Also on the Z, i used one in a gt series and i didn't feel i had to much of an advantage...but then again im not the best driver....so ill just be a follower and say ban it ;)

I'm using the same car so I'm with you staying neutral :nervous:

KEEP THE Z

I've raced and used the Z. There's no real advantage. We all use great cars that can match and even beat it.

"A Win is a Win"

Wouldn't it be gratifying to win beating the best. if the "Z" is indeed better than ours.

BTW i'm using the Yellow Hat Tomica GT.

See you all Saturday.

It's all about the fun. The win is the cherry on top.

Hi, sorry for not updating, a little busy today.

Topics:

The Z

red1ine and ultra, would it be a nuisance to change cars? From those who have expressed their opinion, banning it seems like the most popular. Please let me know.

OLR Rules

I will update the first post with that, thanks ultrap 👍

Preseason Race 2

Tokyo it is, will update

Registration

I am no taking registration for teh waiting list. Please post PSN and car. Check current list as to no repeat cars more than twice. The way the waiting list will work is as follows. After preseason race 2, if there are participants who signe up who are clearly not participating, then they will be moved to the waiting list, and those at the top of the waiting list will be moved to the main list. This will be the rule for the whole season. I may also use the waiting list to fill spots for excused misses. More on this later

Any questions please feel free to ask (here, no PMs please)

You can give up my spot I've decided to go with another series that's running on Saturday night, maybe I'll catch the next season if you run again.

Put me down for the Honda Epson NSX.

One question; when I was testing cars I took a brand new 0mi. Nissan GTR and did an oil change, the HP went from 479 to 503, how is that going to work with your 500hp limit? As the cars break in they will gain a few more HP as well. Just ruling out any HP increasing mods should be sufficient, we sure don't want to have to use that HP limiter to artificially lower the HP if we do an oil change.
