lol

I'm getting to it lol, gonna start accepting and sending friend requests

Lounge will be open as soon as that is done

Just a reminder to everyone (especially those who signed up today), please read the rules and regs. There is one mandatory pitstop, and F1 styles qualifying.

Heavy vs Light damage: It's a tough choice. Heavy damage can ruin your race due to a single mistake, someone else's mistake or even lag. On the other hand it encourages cleaner racing once everyone learns their lesson and figures out they can't just be driving A-spec bumpercar style. With light damage on people are willing to take more risk which leads to more passing attempt but also more rubbing and more crashing.

All things considered, I prefer HEAVY damage. But it is essential that clean racing rules are enforced and tough penalties given out for any breach of the rules.

We are human, sometimes mistakes will happen. You might brake a bit too late and rear end someone. If that happens and the car in front spin or slows, you must wait and relinquish your position or face penalty after the race. Same if you cut a corner when passing...give your position back...just like in the real world.

Hope to have a good race tonight!

okay, all requests added and sent. If you have not received one, please let me know. Will open my lounge in a few minutes.

Qualifying is at 6PM

For tonights race, I'm gonna put light damage. That way everyone can get used to each others driving, and the pace. If everyone for the most part stays clean, we can add heavy in the next preseason race

That's cool, like I said it's a tough choice, I can go either way. Good call to go with light for the 1st race. 👍

Sorry I have to miss tonights race, can't get TV time. I'll will be there for the next one though.

No problem

Also, for anyone reading and on the game. We are going to try a rolling start. Pole will lead at 100 kph. Accelerate at start finish line. Double file.

great racin guys. There are a few things we need to iron out, but it was good.

Please feel free to discuss here. I will open registration again later.

Great racing guys

hey i'm guessing the guy with the unknown car missed the race today... is it possible u can put my partner in the competition? (HE IS IN THE WAITING LIST)

Please mark me down for a spot when/if sign ups open again.

Edit: odd he posted above same time I did. However. I am not who he speaks of.

Very good race everyone! Some close racing on lap 1-3, got pushed passed once. Then I was setting fast lap after fast lap, built up an 18sec lead only to regret it near half distance, my tires were shot! That Nismo is a total b*tch on worn tires, spun twice on my in-lap.

Then I reclaimed lead and was looking good to run away with it until I ran into a couple of NSX backmarkers who were fighting for position. I was flashing my lights but wasn't getting any concessions. Didn't want to crash out so decided to wait...the ARTA eventually spun out and then as I was ready to pass the EPSON I spun coming out of the hairpin. Argh! This allowed MtB to catch up and put a pass on me...tried hard to get the lead back but the tires were going again...had some really scary moments. Missed it by less than 1.5 sec.

Some lessons learned. Looking forward to the next one. Light damage looking good now :)

yeah sorry bro.. i wasn't talking about u ^^^^

No problem. I found it ironic how our posts were not related. Yet appeared to be. Hahahaha

Alright, back online

A few things came up during the discussion after the race:

Ballast
Rolling Start
Dominant Cars

I wasn't up front but it looked, pretty close to me. Where there any issues with dominant cars?

Also, I know Super GT uses a success ballast. How do you guys feel about that? Is it necessary? Would it make for better racing? How would you incorporate it?

For the rolling start, I absolutely loved it. If we can iron it out, it will be awesome. How do you think we can improve it? I will take the guidelines from the the World Super GT championship and post them in the first post for now.

I will be cleaning up the first post tomorrow. Registration will open up again on Monday.

Anything else I should spend some time working out please let me know.

Finally, what track would you like to do for preseason race 2?

You will find the Nismo Z is a lil faster then others.

EPSON is slower then others as well Lexus is much slower.

I would think basing the class off XANAVI or CALSONIC GT-R and RAYBRIG or TAKATA NSX performance an lap times would be ideal.

As well the ballast system sounds slick. I have not ran anything like that and would like too.

Also if your not aware. You can check cars power output and weight by setting restriction to lowest level cars and having them enter. The. Next up have them enter do this till all levels of HP or PP are in and you know they are good.

Rolling starts are fantastic. The procedure used in WSGTC works really well. Odd numbers go on in side of first turn. Staggered so you cab see side car and front. Basically position 3 will see 2 at an angle and 1 in front. If you have everyone switch map scale to 1 this is much better for racing and pace lap(s). It is under quick menu. On track pause and it's there.

Hope some of these things are helpful. Just ideals that I have seen tested and decent solutions for.

Have you guys tried out the Racing Hards? Those really make for some interesting races. Softs seem a little to sticky. Wonder how Mediums work. That may be the way to go. You get some slide around like a real tire would when pushed but you get some more grip online. Offline hard slicks are like mediums online I would say. I do know hard for hard. Online is much different an less adhesive.

Alright, back online

A few things came up during the discussion after the race:

Ballast
Rolling Start
Dominant Cars

I think the rolling start was good in the fashion it was run under. People just need to remember to gas it instead of brake. :sly:

One thing is limiting the PP, however the Nissan is still quicker when at the same PP as the other cars.
Also if your not aware. You can check cars power output and weight by setting restriction to lowest level cars and having them enter. The. Next up have them enter do this till all levels of HP or PP are in and you know they are good.
This would work only if we kept the Nissan Zs out while the other's have entered. The weight would start at 1060 KG then move up to 1,150 KG to slow the Nissan's down.

Dont get me wrong, I AM A NISSAN FAN! I drive a Nissan Altima as my street car/ commuter car. However, its not fair to the other drivers to have that XANAVI NISMO Z thing buzzing around 2 seconds faster a lap. I'm not being selfist, even though I may seen haughty and whining a bit. All the cars should be fairly even in order to balance things out.

The Nissmo 06 is around 1-2 sec faster at Suzuka....

If you look at the old TT results from the seasonal event 9 (I think) at Toscana, the entire top 200 places was Nissmo Z 06. So one option is to ban the 06 Nissan. Another option would be to restrict everyone to 2008-2009 model Super GT cars which can all be bought in the dealership. They are all very close with the NSX having a slight advantage thats not overly significant. The best option I think is to limit the cars that can be used, because adding success ballast will only cause sand-bagging. Also there are cars we know that shouldnt have ballast added (like my yellow hat) that may end up getting extra weight added after qualifying.

In Street car racing leagues, the Nissan GTR V-spec 09 with its 4 wheel drive dominates in similar fashion. The only car that has a chance against it is the McLaren F1. I dont know why PD made these Nissan's so fast. It must be that the CEO, Kaz is a big GTR fan and made it that way despite what we know as very even real world racing, where the Lexus frequently wins.

As for the next track, my vote has to go for:

Ballast: I'm against it... difficult to implement and unfair IMO.

Dominant cars: There's going to be disagreement about this. It is true that the Nismo Z is banned from the WSGTC. However, the series was started before PD introduced the power limiter. Since the NISMO has the highest power output in stock trim it was banned at the time. I'm not so sure the car has a significant advantage at 502 HP. I did some testing and the NSX's definitely have a higher top speed. At Fuji the Takata NSX does 180MPH at the end of the straight, the NISMO only does 174 (both cars at 502HP). The GT-R's don't have the top speed but have much better handling in the twisty bits. Don't have the Supra but side by side at Suzuka it seemed identical on the straights. If people feel strongly about banning the NISMO Z please let's just ban it now so just_dude and Atlas can move on and start practicing in a replacement car. THANKS!

Next track: my vote is Laguna Seca.

I think that has to happen, however the ballast could work....And it would be unique in that I dont believe the World series uses it.

That was an awsome race! had some intense battles with MTB, just loved it!!
Would like to see double file rolling starts!
Next track vote: Nordshleife!

xAmilli0n, in case the Nismo Z does indeed end up being banned/restricted, please pencil me in for the Calsonic IMPUL GT-R. Thanks.

I think it has to be, because I dont think that you can keep "light" cars on the track after the minimum weight has been raised.:ouch:

Start with max weight cars entering. Then lower weight have next weight group enter.

This works for HP and or PP.

well my car is the heaviest i think at 1150kg....and the weakest i think with only 320tq, nothing really botherd me with the way the race was run....i still had the 6th best qualifying time and i know if it wasn't the first time i ran the car i could have done better....but my race was over once i spun on the first turn and realizing my lsd tune was way off....but since i couldn't find a tune anywhere for my car i had to do the ol' trail and error approach...

o, and im using the Mobil 1 NSX.....if anyone has a good tune i'd love to look at it so i can compare with mine to see maybe what i can tweak...

I have not had the chance to use the Z. Even within the power and weight limit, is it still faster? I may do some testing, but if someone else has done so already it would be appreciated. However, if you guys just want it banned, we can just do that. There are still plenty of good cars out there.

As for the ballast, its a good idea, but I still haven't thought of a good way of implementing it.

I will update the first post today with rolling start guidelines.

Current vote for next track: 2 Leguna Seca, 2 some version of Nordschlife

everything sound good for me ppl... but as for the next track laguna seca i dnt agree, jgtc never raced on laguna seca... i personally think the next race should be on either MONZA or FUJI.

Well, I think that as long as we stick to real world tracks its okay. That way we don't end up repeating tracks and we get some variety, but thats just me :D
