Noticed something with tire sounds

Yeah, the tire sounds are horrible. Not to mention how they are often more loud than the engine itself. Who thought that it was ok? Did anyone even play the game?

I really wonder what their sound team has been doing in the last decade. Must be a hell of a job.

You guys laugh but the one thing That impressed me about GT6 is the accuracy or tyre screeching. HAve you guys heard real life cars pushing the grip limits? IT sounds awfully close.

And you want to hear pig squeal sound coming from tyres? GO to 40 second mark of this video.

I totally agree with xSNAKEx, the tyre sounds are IMO, the best sounds in the game (and are rather good even relative to other games). You get this lovely, rough, "scrubbing" noise during understeer which I think sounds very accurate.

This, really, is symptomatic of something inherent in GT - inconsistency. The stuff they get right is uncanny in its accuracy, and the half-baked stuff seems really, truly awful. Compare Premiums and Standards, tracks such as the Nurburgring, Silverstone and Willow Springs to Trial Mountain and Grand Valley, the accuracy of the lighting/weather system to the sounds. When they get it right, it's brilliant, which I suppose makes the lazy stuff even worse in comparison.

I think the tyre sounds in GT6 are fine, they sound great imo. Took a while to get used to them as they are different from GT5 is all.

👍

Yes, I can barely hear the tyres when inside the car with the engine roaring rather than the tyres not allowing me to hear the engine.

Thats true, the tire sounds are too loud in gt6. I think they need to be turned down to 70%.

BTW in many parts of america America roads always seem to have a layer of dust on them that are absent in places like japan, which makes tyres screech less.

Tire sounds are good but they are equalized wrong and are a bit high pitched all around and they are definitely too loud in the game, in car they should never over power the ending and exhaust notes. Heck on a whole all the sounds in GT6 are pitched a bit higher than they should so it sounds slightly off even when they have engine notes and exhaust notes right they still are a bit on the pitchy side. Wished they actually used Dolby Labs to equalize those sounds so they come out of our equipment how they are supposed to sound. I love the tire sounds if they weren't so loud and overbearing in every view but other sounds get turned up or down depending on view...got to love PD's insistence on tire noise.

@xSNAKEx thanks for the videos, they really let me see that some of the erratic behavior in GT6 actually happens in real life, i swear grass is the bane of all wheeled vehicles they just basically go ice skating. BTW anyone hear that SLS GT3 engine and exhaust note, the doppler sound was to die for....PD needs to stop cutting the sound reverb through the environment for those GT3 cars.

Actually I think they are acceptable volume. Problem is, giving its a video game, people are over driving the cars, causing the loud screech every turn.

Best part about gt6 is this actually slows you down, as it should.

Try driving smooth and clean (without srf) and you will see your lap times improve and you won't be hearing much at all from the tires.

Nothing wrong with the tyre sounds, they get more realistic sounding with every game.

And as has been mentioned, if they are excessively loud, then you are overdriving the car. Slow down and take things smoother.

If you're drifting, then loud tyre sound is normal.

i bet 95% off the tyre sound complainers are horrible overdriving their tyres.
maybe they should try leaving the tyre color to the stock blue and not burning them to orange/red^^.

tyre sounds seems realistic to me but i only testet sports and stock tyres on a crz irl

But the threshold is too low, they start screeching too early. I mean, I'll take a powerful car with Comfort Soft or Medium tires and they will screech all the time in a straight line, even without slippage.

Completely agree with you. The sounds start too loud too early. When you hear that rough screech sound coming from real life cars, it means the car is using the lateral grip of the tyres to the full extent. Cars hardly used to do that 20 years ago. Man car chassis, suspension and tyres have really come a long way in the last 10 years. Its hard to keep up with modern chassis if you have a 10+ year old car, even if it was a great sports car back then.

If they increased the threshold the game would be much more enjoyable.
