Nurburgring snow; we need this!

The internal name for Chamonix in GT4 was "Nursnow" which makes me believe that PD should have at least gave a thought or two to a Nuerburgring in snowy conditions during development phase, but relented at some point.

What we need is for pd to link the realtime weather and time to tracks. If it is raining irl then it will in the game to.

I think that was always their plan, looking back to GT5 Prologue. Perhaps getting every track up to weather-able status was just too much this time out.

I've been on the ring when it was iced over in real life, probably the second most thrilling lap I ever had. First was right after it rained and I was first on the track that morning, almost caught a few guard rails on that lap.

I would pay for a special edition of GT5 that only has 25 of the most premium cars (2012 GT-R is a must) and 3 of the top tracks (including Nür) with full sets of adjustable weather conditions, including snow and ice, and hours of day. I would pay a full $60 for that.

P.S. That includes more realistic per-car settings, like automatic transmission that honor the real car’s transmission, TCS, ASM, and brakes.

PGR4 has snow - one race requires you to run an old 1950ish Maserati race car around it - absolute bast to do :D.

🤬...now I want to play PGR4 xD.

Well, I really like how the snow tracks look in GT5. The lighting at times look beautiful on the Alaskan track generator. Having snow accumulating real time on tracks is really something else. Perhaps, next generation can pull it off.

Having snow accumulate real time would be a logical evolution, though right now i'd be immensely satisfied with just a winter option to give prelaid snow at Nurburgring.

Snow that accumulates on non-snow tracks would be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry welcome. I was hoping it would come, even before GT5 released.

Yup, at least. But it's not really, "at least", because that's still a lot of work to make it look good and other stuff.

I've had it happen online once or twice when i have chosen rain on the nurb. Also on that Route 7 ( ? ) track too. That changes from rain to snow quite often i do believe. Seems to be online only tho, not A-spec tracks. Anyone ever seen it happen on Arcade mode ?

Some tracks online get snow if they don't have it, some get rain if they don't have it. I'm not sure how, but it has/does happen.

The first night I tried Spa out in a Japanese room, at one point when the host was changing the weather settings, snow started falling.

I tried it out the next day by turning the weather on/off multiple times and after about 10 tries, I was able to get snow. It hit the windshield like rain, but it was surely snowing.

Well, the rain already sort of accumulates in real time, so who knows...

As cool as this would be, they close the Nurburgring for the winter(or at least when it snows) so I guess it wouldn't be "realistic".

It's known as black ice for being completely/almost completely transparent and practically invisible. It takes up the asphalt's colour, which is black, and appears to not even be there, thus drivers do not see it and end up sliding across the road with no clue of what's happening. He's asking for evil little ice that will mess drivers up. :p

Have any of you ever driven in REAL snow? Ain't nothing fun about it. 👎

Where are you from?

I was going to react in a more aggressive manner, but I sometimes forget not everyone spends their winters in a snow belt off of a lake, and gets feet of snow each year.

I hate to tell friends of friends stories, but a buddy of mine's father was driving through Georgia and they had a fairly light dusting of snow, and I guess for them it was 'blizzard conditions' and he was pulled over. The officer told him it was too dangerous to be driving, and he had to inform him he was from Ohio, and we get that much snow in 10 minutes here any given day from october to march lol

But if you are from an area of snow, and drive a vehicle...then you know how much fun it is. I mean, a front front isn't nearly as fun as a front rear or a front 4x4, and I've never driven a mid rear, rear rear, or mid awd, but man, just a bit of powder and it's a blast on the roads.

I know, I was kidding. Where I live there's a lot of people who are not intellectually strong and they don't know why black ice is called black ice, and the phrase 'why's it gotta be black' has become pretty popular.

Maybe not for you, some of us go out in the snow to play. ;)

I would love to see regular courses covered in snow for snow racing, much better then created tracks.

Since we're just engaging in some wishful thinking, I'd like the option on all the weather tracks to adjust the temperature and how much it can vary, so that rain can become sleet and snow and back again. Accumulated water on the track could freeze and become ice.

I think GT6 might have a Snow track or two, or three. GT5 has them, why couldn't they use the 'Ring with a semi-clean track and snow everywhere else?
It might be because they'd have to do a lot of testing for it. By that, I mean, Forza doesn't have wet physics (sounds like a cheap shot, explanation >>>). Dirt/Snow in GT5 is said to be, "ehh", so I would think with the extra time PD will have "perfecting" GT5/6, those will be improved just like Snow on tarmac might be like the Dirt/Snow physics we have now. If that makes any sense?

BUT, if GT6 is going to be on the next PS, THAT extra time and hardware power, I guess, could make it so Snow on tarmac is like the Rain physics we have now.
