Who's getting Oblivion and how many months of your life do you think it will take up.

If it is anything like Morrowind i can see me playing it on and off for years.

I am.
Hard to say, especially since I'll have to share my life with the other incredible 360 games. :)
I hope PS3 has a great line up too.

I'm suprised there hasn't been a thread about this game until now. I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm going to get the PC version.

Only problem would be me making millions of different characters like in Morrowind. :D

Personally I still have my doubts about it being released this year as it took them what? 6 years for Morrowind?

I can't help but worry this might be a compromise over quality. Still I probably am (& I hope I am) wrong.

If you have seen the animations it looks like they could have used another 6 months to re-do them they look almost exaclty like morrowinds, and still there is no stair stepping animation. Still this is the only game or the system that im exited about other than full auto.

No I haven't watched any videos of it, just seen pics. And if what you say is true that pretty crap, Morrowinds animations were merely adequate in 2002 so just a slight improvement isn't going to cut it. Not much point of flashy graphics if the animations are dodgy. Can't be good for the new combat system either.

It was this and PGR3 I've been thinking of getting with the 360 launch, mainly because it looks like the kinda game I can spend ages on and that's good as I probably would'nt get another 360 'til Feb.
Unfortunately finances have conspired against me and I've put getting the 360 off until the new year. Still, Oblivion is on my list. Shame it does'nt have online as I was considering taking the plunge and getting the Xbox Live 2 subscription. Perhaps I still will for PGR3.

here are some videos, They arent bad enough where it would bug a person to not get the game. My one and only gripe is the lack of stair stepping animations.

Yeah I see what you mean about the animations they aren't that bad but they aren't as good as they ought to be either really. The combat looks better than it was in Morrowind but it doesn't look very fluid, perhaps again down to the animations.

Delayed till Q1 2006. history repeats its self . But Delayig it is a good thing as EIII had some nasty bugs that caused the game to crash.

Now Full Auto(massive frame rate issues) and Elderscolls IV were the only 2 games I was interested and both are delayed untill Feb 06.

I was a bit mad about this at first.

The only other game i wanted at launch was PGR3, which if Oblivion was released the same day i probably would not have played for months. Now with Oblivion being delayed i get to spend a few months on PGR3 :) so it's not all bad.

Well personally I think the delay is a good thing (although part of me of course wants to play it NOW ;) ). Even if it does come out in Q1 2006 its still a 'fast' elder scrolls release, I just hope they create a polished product. Morrowind has never ever run 100% on any of my hardware setups it generally will crash on a game load/area load.

I hope this doesn't happen in Oblivion and it keeps me entertained for as long as Morrowind did (Which then got really stale after I realised how static and easy the game actually wase). Until Morrowind I didn't really care much for that type of RPG.

I'm not going to buy it till I know I'll have some time to throw at it, the Morrowind ES: III took up a rediculious amount of my time. But I will buy this at some point.

I'm no Elderscroll expert but they said they started Oblivion right after they were done with Morrowind. Also they said Oblvion took the longest to make from a video interview

Bethesda Softworks today announced new details on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the sequel to 2002's The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Intriguingly enough, the game is in development for PC "and future generation consoles" and has been in development since 2002.

Well I'm not certain by any means on the development time but I believe Daggerfall (Elder Scrolls II) was released in 1996 and of course Morrowind (ES III) in 2002. Assuming Morrowind development was done all the way through that time that would be 6 years (twice time between Morrowind and now), but I do know they had other projects inbetween.

If more development hours have gone into Oblivion, then great :)

It's finally gone gold! :D

Release date is set for March 20 and a few days after depending on where you live. 👍

I must say I've enjoyed this game more than anything in the past year or so... it is that good. If you like RPGs, this is a must. Im not a RPG fan, but this really has my interest. Its incredible. 12+ hours into it...

I'm hoping I'll have it in the morning. It's officially released in the UK on Friday 24th March.
From what I've seen this may be the first 360 game that really does use the 360 well, and I don't just mean the graphics. Apparantly the game will use the HDD for caching, speeding up loading etc.
Thing is I wonder how much bigger the game could've been if it were on a HD DVD? It uses every bit of space on a dual-layer 9GB DVD and the game world is supposed to be some 16 square miles in size. Maybe the sequel will come on two discs or have downloadable levels?

Oh yeah, there's going to be some downloadable content for Oblivion - the Horse Armour Pack!www.gamespot.com

Got it last night and it looks like it's going to be the game i hoped it would be. I have not got very far yet, just joined the fighters and mages guilds, then went for a wander round the countryside.
I probably won't touch the main quest for a bit, just do some side quests and try and get my bearings.

Yea, I beat the game last night. I still love it and have tons to do...! And I'm only level 11...thought I'd be higher before I reached the end of the main quest.
