When did I ever say anything otherwise? I never said it WASN'T a good game. I simply said that Mr. Deap is making up pretty much everything he's said as he goes along, reading tech articles that use facts to inaccurately portray performance (because the specs they are "talking" about have nothing to do with what they're "talking" about).

It's just a matter of him spilling lies and rumors to people, and me calling him out on it.

I don't have anything about the PS3. The Cell is a incredible good product. Though there's no point on using it on the PS3. The Cell is a CPU that is strong enough to handle graphic by itself. Though the Cell isn't a specialised GPU. The media got interest for the new type of architecture for a CPU. There's no CPU build like the Cell. So it make it kind of special.

If you believe so much what I write is filled with crap, see for yourself when it will come out.

Edit:
For more explanation. The XBOX 360 is about equal in performance to a X1600 XT. Though unlike the X1600 XT, it doesn't suffer from performance by using heavy shader, HDR & AA.

The PS3 with the Cell, will run pretty much like SLI, so it have to divide the performance with the normal GPU that is weak like something comparable to a X1600 XT. If sony was working on the Cell, it was to reduce the cost of the PS3 by a lot. But it isn't the case, added a GPU on it & BluRay. The big question mark is how well run the Cell alone? The PS3 cannot handle processing effect as well as the XBOX 360 due to the unified shader archtecture & the E-Dram. It's like NA vs Turbo. :sly:

Edit#2:
I found a funny post in EA forum. You will luv that text.

It's a new idea. New ideas can take some getting use to, but once they are put into practice become common place. They said the PS2 was too hard to program for. WOW! It didn't make any difference. I have heard the PS3 is easier to program in comparison. So what if 360 has a 10 million head start, in the long term that's nothing. I've read that most of the people who have bought the 360 are XBOX owners. Microsoft still has to convince normal people to buy the 360. So far Microsoft has only been preaching to the choir. I really can't see too many more non-believers standing up to get converted. Smart buyers will know what is better value for money. It doesn't take a genius to see it. I think you can too. You're obviously trying to justify your purchase of the 360 by making PS3 sound like crap. Spend more of your time on the console you say you love. Graphics are not as important as gameplay. You can have the best looking game on the planet that plays like crap. It's useless. The PS2 has it's own great games. Resident Evil 4, Gran Turismo 4, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War etc. All with great graphics and gameplay, that easily compares to anything on XBOX. The PS2 is the most popular console because it has more of the best games, period. Sony has had far more original ideas than XBOX could ever have. Eyetoy, Singstar, and the Guitar Hero have made the PS2 a household name. I bet XBOX 360 will copy them. As far as the future goes PS3 has already planned for it in spades. Unlike 360, that's making it up as it goes along. Microsoft have not planned for the future, which is why they have to keep adding things to the 360. Extra storage, HD-DVD, they're all things you can use now. 360 just hasn't got them. The planning is over. Microsoft can cover whatever they like. It won't stop the pain. Let the battle commence.

*Deep breath*

First... the market value,
"Video game revenue is expected to fall 4% to 5% from 2005's $10 billion figure, following a drop last year in console game-system hardware and software sales."
http://www.usatoday.com/tech/gaming/2006-09-04-next-gen-systems_x.htm

40 what?

What is your defintion of "Easily Compensated for"?

Because Sony recons it will take them 5 years to recoup their losses
from their Game devision alone. Yes... Sony, not me.
So with that out, I hope you can now fully comprehend the fact that,
1) Sony is poor. and 2) Sony will remain poor for a long time to come. And in case you didn't know, 5 years is when the next XBOX will be released, unlike Sony, who says they wont make a PS4 for another 10 years.

HA! Drop in the ocean my foot.

On top of that... have you not heard about Sony's
exploding batteries?
they're not gaining any money from it, I can tell you that much.

http://www.betanews.com/article/Sony_Battery_Recall_Cost_250_Million/1156522330

Techno Babble Crap?
the mere fact that you call it that, tells me it doesnt mean very much
to you, and that obviously means that you dont understand Sony's PS3
in relation to actual GAMES very well.

Revolutionary?
humm,... lets get into what that means. Revolutionary, is an adjective that describes something that will change the face of its world completely. In other words your telling me, that the CELL/PS3, is going to change the face of gaming forever.
That, eventually, every gamer, PC gamers, Nintendo gamers, Xbox gamers, will run their games on some kind of CELL processor, or a processor BASED on the CELL. That's what revolutionary means you know. And that is highly unlikely, for the time that its going to take to get the PS3 to run at its full potential, its etimated to be years.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/playstation-3/years-before-we-see-ps3-cells-power-197491.php

Developers and analysts predict years before the CELL reaches the Potential Sony keeps bragging on about. John Carmack predicts 8 years max.
Thats 80% of its lifetime. Not being able to perform the way Sony claimed it would.

I really dont think AMD, Intel, ATI, NVIDIA, and all those processor making monkeys, will stand still for 8 years and be overtaken by a processor they are most likely to out-perform before it can perfom the way it was acclaimed to.

Seriously, I haven't seen the PS3 do a single thing that the 360
cannot do. I've watched all the E3 trailers, etc, etc, nothing.

Hmm... a revolutionary console... that keeps getting Downgraded, again and AGAIN?

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33995

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=32171

HA! And that was just me going on about a bad adjective.

Anyways.... You HEARD the PS3 is easier to code for in comparison to the PS2?

I've heard Tupac, Biggy, Aaliyah, and Elvis are all still
alive. But easier to code for?

8 years estimated dude, 8 years.

You've HEARD that most of the 360 sales come from XBOX owners?

I've HEARD flies have detachable heads, but your statement?

Im sorry, first of all... who were you expecting to buy 360's?
hmm?

Seriously, who?

Your mom?

And second of all... you don't sell faster than the PS2, gamecube and the iPod with only the SAME damned consumers that you had beforehand.

Not a chance, 360's sales are going faster than you can say, November.
someone different must be buying into XBOX.

wait, wait, I looooooove this bit...

Smart buyers hmm?

here's your average smart buyer

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/official-playstation-mags-editor-to-skip-ps3-buy-xbox-193893.php

Now I want to get into this value for money thing.

First of all, i dont see the PS3 worth its price at all, seriously.
What do you get for all that extra money?
A console, that won't be able to perform correctly for max 8 years.
An unproven storage technology that you wont actually need for quite a few years to come.
A bad controller, that was thought up 3 weeks before E3 2006, and
Game developers for the Ps3 weren't even informed about the gyroscope
until after the were well into developing their games...

Headshot Harry might like this one.

http://e3.joystiq.com/2006/08/18/developers-and-ps3s-motion-sensing-still-lagging-behind/

On top of which, I know of only 27 confirmed games due for the PS3s launch, 360 will have 160 new titles launched before X-mas.

Anyway, here's what really took me buy surprise...

first of all, I wasnt the one who started the discussion about the PS2's terrible graphics, which they are.
But hang on, here's what Im getting... You're telling me, Half Life 2 wasn't fun? or doom 3 either? and what about Chronicles of Riddick? the game that I have yet to find a rating of less than 90% for.
That wasn't fun?

Let me explain something to you, GAMEPLAY is 80% Dependant on the DEVELOPER. The Developers create the game engine and its experience, and then there's the concepts, etc. 20% of the experience is from the console, i.e, Graphics processing, and your controller. There is absolutely nothing that PS2 has done, that the origional XBOX couldn't do more than twice as good.
Now I dont care what you think of the XBOX controller, but the actual console gave me my full 20%. You dont think XBOX had any classic games?
Halo 1 and 2, you must know, but what about Strangers Wrath? Ninja Gaiden? Project Gotham Racing 2? Stubbs The Zombie? Those were all legendary games. I have a friend who's the worlds biggest PS2 addict, but when I let him play Ninja Gaiden, he was blown away like you could never imagine. You just dont know of some these games because of Marketing. Microsoft didnt need to market the origonal XBOX because they didnt actually expect it to sell.

Half way through the PS2's life, Sony realized it had built a weak console, but how did it survive?
It was the most popular.
How?
Advertising, Marketing, etc. How else did you find out about those games that you've grown to love? You were just sucked into the hype, and you sound like the typical PS2 console gamer, who realizes he has a useless machine, and reverts to using gameplay as an excuse for playing games with horrific graphics on a machine way past its sellby date...

(lil edit) Seriously though, I do hear what you're saying about most games nowadays being primarily focused on appearance and not actual game content. That's why I love Prey.

So, tell me? What was it about the PS3 that attracted you the most? Was it the overbearingly huge online gaming community it has...? Oh, wait, no, thats Microsofts XBOX / XBOX 360. Ok, then was it the
awesome new, intensely interactive controller they have...? oh, wait, no, thats Nintendo's Wii. So then it must be, and Im just assuming, Sony's insane Marketing, straight from the beginning, boasting about the Graphics the PS3 can produce, words which they are now eating, boasting about all its processing capabilities, showing off mostly trailers and demos of things that you will never actually see in a game, i.e, adding a plethora of rubber ducks to a bathtub, or the (pr-recorded and not real time)Phys X demo of a plane crashing into some crazy construction site, but still, a) you wont see that in a game, and b) nothing the 360 couldn't process.

Regarding Singstar and all that jazz, thats more marketing, taking extremely commercial music, and making it available for an extremely commercial console. just another reson to buy the weakest one of the bunch. Seriously, I couldn't be bothered about Singstar, becuase I doubt I'll get any trance or drum n Bass on there to download.

Just sit for a second and consider, Compare the amount of Playstation 2 advertisements and competitions that you've ever seen to the amount of Gamecube and XBOX advitisements and comps that you've ever seen, im talking about TV, Magazines and radio, that kind of media. Do you for one second honestly believe that if microsoft or Nintendo put the same amount of effort into developing those last gen consoles recongnition, that PS2 wouldn't have faced some serious competition?

Of course Microsoft will rip Sony's ideas off, but that doesn't make it a bad company, I mean sony didnt come up with Playstation online all by itself...

And as far as Sony having planned for their future "in the Spades"
you obviously haven't heard that when the November Launch date arrives, Sony, the company that so openly mocked Microsoft about their bumpy launch, will only be launching a total of 500 000 thousand consoles. 500 000 to the U.S, and 100 000 to Japan. How is that for planning?

http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/09/06/ps3_allocation_cut/

Oh, that's gonna be one HELL of a wake up call for me isn't it?

Ok ok, enough is enough, no more of this, this is an Oblivion thread, no more about ps3 vs Xbox 360, I don't care who is better nor do I care to read about it, bad or good this should be put somewhere else.

Well I rented and put at least 15 hours into Oblivion over the weekend. I still have it until tomorrow. I closed the first Oblivion Gate within a couple hours all by myself with no help and I never looked at anything online. I was very proud that I accomplished that. Oh btw I picked the tiger looking person and custom made everything that it asked. I think it said something about Mage?

Its a very very good game but a little too slow paced for me. I do like how you can fast travel to save time. Sometimes I just walked to see the scenery or level my character skills up. After I started getting bored I went into a voice chat with someone that is real familiar with this game. I wanted him to show me the fun parts of this game so I could stay entertained. He showed me how to get to the arena so I could fight people. That was the most fun I have had in the game. I also kept adjusting the game slider so it wasnt too easy or too hard. Right now my shield and my weapons are tore up. lol I need to get a hammer and fix all of them. I like a challenging battle but I really need to repair my weapons or I will have to adjust the slider too far to the easy side. I never ended up using any of the maps or anything for this game.

If there are any other fun events like the arena that I should check out please let me know. I only have this for a couple more days then I will be returning it. Its a great game and very well designed, its just not my kind of game. Too slow paced.

Well, you can always be an assassin for the Dark Brotherhood. The missions are stealthy (generally) and can be fun (the one a Sumitmist Manor for example). Oblivion isn't really an adrenaline rush and it really needs a lot of time devoted to it.
Try to get your characters level up. Weapons and armour get better as you level up (every 5 levels or so). Unfortunately enemies scale with you so it can be hard to get an advantage.
For more ideas etc look here. You may as well pick and choose if you only have it for a few days. There are over 200 missions if you include downloads and Training quests....

I'd say that one of the best areas to check out if you have time is the dark brotherhood missions or "Assasins guild". To start you must kill an innocent person, then go to sleep. When you wake up you'll be approached by a guild member and asked to join. Thieves guild is the second best story line. I found the mages and fighters guild storylines to be pretty bland and repetitive.

i love becoming a vampire and going around preying on the homeless lol. and you get 100% infected you can turn invisible for about 60secs...

I finished everything in the arena last night and even had a battle with 2 wolves and an elf in the arena. But after that it said I had to wait a week for the next battle. So I went on a rampage just killing everyone I could. I think I have had about all I can handle with Oblivion. I return the rental tonight after work. Like I said above its a well designed game but its just not my kind of game. Too slow paced. Oh I checked and I had a little over 10 hours total.

Good to see people still getting into Oblivion. I've been playing it off and on since I got my 360. If only I didn't have a job or a social life or a fiance, I'd be so much further into this game.

When you consider the scale of the game, minor compliants about the way it plays and looks are easily over looked. There's been plenty of useful (and useless) downloadable content too.
