TVR speed 12 is very nice.
Almost all Old Muscle-Cars have very nice V8 Sounds (if they have an V8)

Mclaren F1 is disapointing for me

Alfa Romeo Giulia race car (whatever the long name is, the premium one) sounds like a mix between an old propeller plane and a USPS Mail Truck.:dopey:

Its a shame that for the old british tin such as the mini and the triumph spitfire they didn't have a recording og the car turing over, followed by the owner going "Its not bleedin working again" heehehe:idea:

Toyota 7 is the worst - they obviously couldn't find one that worked so used a Vitz/Yaris 1.1 petrol engine :)

Alfa 8C & Maserati have lovely sounds, the Alfa does get revved too. Shelby GT350 and that old Lancer sound fairly authentic (i.e. they'd rather stay asleep, thank you so very much!)

I've come across so many cars that have the same generic sound - Minolta Toyota, Calsonic Nissan race car and a few others - perhaps the Audi R10 TDi too - I am impressed at quite how many DISTINCTIVE ignition sounds they've put in though.

Just commenting on how I love this little extra, only wished they would've blipped the throttle after starting it.

Yup. Like the nfs hot pursuit. 👍
Man i just love that pagani zonda cinque sound.

Didn't expect the Ponaz Esperante GTR-1 LM to sound so soft when it has a V8 engine.

The Honda's VTEC engines sound exactly like they do in real life though.

The Citroen GT Concept sounds like someone threw a bunch of fireworks into a jet engine just as the 747 is about to take off.

Formula 1 cars sound nice firing up. So do most of the Italian cars. The Pug 908 and R10, on the other hand...oh man they sound like they're going to launch engine parts out the side of the car.

oh wait

I just took a look (or listen) at some of the cars after looking through this thread...

The countach kinda cracked me up hearing it barley start, like the battery was half dead

The 69 Camaro is basically ear sex

When the Veyron turns over it sounds like it has 0 compression

The Citroen 2CV actually sounds like a modern car...

The '49 beetle sounds like.... what it should haha

The '62 Special sounds nuts

I love how the minolta and the FGT sound

Its bizarre how every thread on this forum degrades almost instantly into complaints.

Could it be because the game is so easy to complain about due to all of its glaring flaws?

Back on topic.....

I like the feature, but some of the engine startups don't sound right. Some sound like they just found the car rusted over in grandma's pole barn and are starting it for the first time in 20 years.

Last night I noticed that FGT's start-up sound sounds the same as X2010/X1's. Anybody else discovered that too? BTW. it's a nice sound.
Also the NASCAR Fusion AJ Allmendinger sound great when started up. And the Trans-Cammer.

No complaining about the complaining, please. Compared to the sound thread that was closed (because it was a re-hash of the engine sounds during races topic), this one is rather tame.

But please, let's stick to the start-up sounds topic, to keep it that way.

Minolta sounds like its going to die everytime it starts up in the garage. I also believe one of the Lambos, maybe Countach sounded awful too on start up.

My poor Minolta... I understand that the game goes and finds a sound file and plays it, but EVERY TIME I start it in the garage I'm sure it's going to cut out. I have no faith in that cars start up. Ha.

The Lancer GSR 1600 rally car (I think it's this one) has a good start up noise. It turns over for about five seconds before starting

It is kinda logical, since most racing cars can barely hold idle without someone massaging the throttle. Really, I didn't realise so many people expect these cars to behave like a road car on startup? Racing cars start rough, want to cut out on you and mostly don't even have a starter motor to start with - that's the wirring/buzzing/leafblower sound for ya: external starter.

And if a Countach starts bad, that's because it's a notoriously unreliable car. Try to synch six twin barrel Weber downdraught carbs and report back to me if it starts at all! Too bad you can't burn clutches in this game... the Countach would need a new every 3.000 miles if you're lucky.

Instead of whining about the startup sound (which is an actual recording, so no contest there) be glad they didn't include the ugly side of these cars in the game.

RE - Ameyima Race RX-7 (or however you spell it) the way it coughs and splutters is awesome!

I like the way the Countach sounds, its like starting a 20 somethiing year old Lambo...
turn key... waiting.... waiting, oooh theres the starter motor trying to turn over a high compression V12 .... waiting .... splutter .... grumble grumble grumble

mitsubishi MiEV

no engine noise, sort of comical to me :D

Oh you got me. I was reading through 3 pages and was surprised no one had mentioned yet because of the recent Seasonal Events. Normally the engine startups give me a semi-erection but this one left me limp. I was waiting for something and then it just made this high pitched whirring noise that you could barely hear over the game music. It's kind of funny, actually.

Isn't the MiEV an electric car? It has the same little bar thing in the bottom left that the tesla and prius have.

As for some of the sounds sounding like they're from knackered out cars. I guess most of them ARE knackered out cars, unless they know a man who knows a man who's wife knows a man who has a factory new, pristine model of the car that's 50 years old. but has been kept in a sealed box.

I don't think anyone was really complaining about the start up sounds, it's not something you normally get in games, it's a nice little feature.

I think the Arat nsx sounds like it could kill you, what a mean start up. I noticed the countach too, I was thinking, couldn't they put a new battery in for the sound recording:) The ford GT sounds like Kaz went into his garage and recorded it on his phone, it's a bit tame sounding compared to what I was expecting.

Any full blown race car and the reason the FGT and the x2010 sound the same is probably because the engine is hugely over square to get the high rpm

what i liked the most was the effect that putting an exhaust on had to the sound, couldnt contain my excitement when i heard my ae86 start up after the exhaust was put on, some cars really come alive after that mod
