The car had roughly 300hp at the flywheel before it let go and torque was probably about 250ftlb's. Because Im staying with the 2.5L now dont expect the HP-Torque ratio to change much, after I finish the project I will be looking at about 500hp at the flywheel. I could go more but Im happy to stick to 500 then work on handling.

I feel my engine is on the way out too. Either that or the gearbox.
Unlike your 'liner the only performance modification i have on mine is the exhaust (3"), so it is running about 217 hp.

Gotta love 4WD though. Was dragging off a mate of mine (GTS-t) the other night in the city (roads were wet) and i kept wasting him. Funny to see his car sqirm all over the road while mine stays straight as a nail and doesn't lose traction.

Gotta love the GTS25-t. The ultimate RWD skyline. 500 is a good number to shoot for too. I wouldnt go over 200 hp/l in anything I wanted to keep streetable, yet at the same time you can go M5 hunting. I love skylines.

What makes you think your's might be on the way out? what symptoms?

My car showed no indication that it was going to fail, except maybe alittle more than usual oil blow-by. Turbo engines and especially RB's and SR engines hate detonation, if your car is detonating lift off throttle imediately and have it checked, that comes now from personal experience.

I plan to replace the suspension with adjustable coilovers, but Im not real sure about it as it might be too stiff. More pictures will be coming soon.

Oh ok. So tell me have you ever taken it to a drag race track or a real race track? Just curious. BTW @ inferno : M5 hunting? I dont think M5's are very common Australia. But then again how do I know? I dont live there.

Well, I didnt necesairily mean it literaly. I did say that he could. But I dont live their either so hey, you never know.

I already out accelerate Monaros before the engine failure, no we dont get many M5's, infact ive seen more Lamborghini Gallardos, Ferrari 360's, Porsche turbos etc than M5's.

See quite a few M3's though including M3 CSL's.

No real symptoms but it sort of feels a bit sluggish lately. And the gearbox sometimes clunks into gear.

Not really related, but i was cruising along the motorway last night and when the car in front of me moved into the left lane i booted it and shortly after heard this really weird sound (like a vaccum cleaner or like i was going over those painted lines with the lumps in them - which are supposed to wake you up if you start drifting off). I looked at the speedo and it was sitting between 160 and 170 which is the same speed this sound cropped up last time.

Easy solution is not to speed but i really want to know what those noises are first. :/

No Im not rich unfortunately, wish I was. I have been working/restoring on cars ever since I was little with my dad, when I was 17 I did one year worth of full time Automotive mechanical studys.
