Meh I don't care. I'm not bothered if a few thousand other people have it as well, if I want that car it won't stop me buying it at all.

Agreed. It's not like "OMFG HE HAS THAT SAME CAR I'M NOT GOING TO EVER BUY IT!!!!11111"

Actually unlocking the save game in patch 1.06 ruined a cars rarity.

Well then at least make it harder to earn money. :/

Which means more grinding then there already is. Seriously, is that what you want to do?

Yes. But sort of no. I don't grind, so... yeah.

How u suppose to get a rare car if it never pops up in a dealership? This thread is a fail

If it's a fail, then why is there a discussion? Never say never! It'll come one day. ;)

So let me get this straight, the OCD ruins the innate sense of superiority and elitism that some gamers like to feel over others? -

Cry me a river.

You shouldn't care about other players who bought a rare car in the OCD, the same one you bought in the UCD. Just keep your eyes on the road.

In some ways car rarity is part of the gaming elements of GT5. If we removed that, credits (if cars are cheap and prizes huge, essentially that's almost as removing the credits system), all other things that many people deem unnecessary (XP points, A-spec levels, etc. Licences have already been made by PD completely optional) and unlocked every content at game start, then what would remain?

A poor excuse as a simulator, in my opinion.

We'd be left with GT2/GT4, except with an optional licence system. It's not like the way GT5 handles this stuff is SOP for the series.

GT2/GT4 didn't have everything unlocked for free since game start.
This is basically what people are asking.

Here's my take on it: PD designed the game the with "rarity" and the thrill of finally finding a car and having enough money to buy it. Now that they've realized what a bad job they did with the CR/XP system they're now trying to make up for it buy putting these cars in the OCD at half price with zero mileage.

I got my 2J & 2D the hard way, as did so many other people with so many of the other "rare" cars. PD has now lessened the "pride of ownership" with what they've done. They had it right in my opinion. Giving people that same "feeling" as in the real-world when someone buys a car. It's that pride of ownership. Now that they are a dime a dozen...

Guys, let's be honest, this is settled in less then 9 pages.

PD ruined any chance of "rare" cars with the gifting exploits from the beginning, quite frankly, adding the trade caps hurt more of the people not exploiting the system as much or more then the glitchers, because they'd already gotten everything they wanted.

I think now that the games been out a while (and was when patch released) the OCD cars are just excellent to me. Yes, it's "easier" but it's not even close to "free" for any of us that don't grind, I for one can't even make myself grind, let alone do it regularly, and these additions have simply helped me obtain cars I just never would have been able to get.
Case-in-point: Corvette C5-R, it's been 10 months, and I've yet to ever see one in the UCD.
But I've seen 10 R8 LMS cars at least. 👎

Now, people may not like cars being made easier to find, but for some of us, it's a must to be able to ever use the cars, and I for one did not buy GT5 to hunt cars down for 3 years.

With a better system in everything, all this could have been avoided, but it wasn't, and I think PD did an excellent job "fixing" the xp, credits, and car availability issues GT5 had at the beginning.

And FishHunters, your post is part of the problem, while you enjoy taking pride in ownership of hard to find cars, most (and I do mean most) GT5 players either don't have the will, or the time to run 2500 races refreshing the UCD and earning money to find a rare car, I really don't think a single person bought GT5 with the intent of "car hunting".

Expensive? Sure. Used? Sure. Impossible to find? Just pisses players off.

And the real kicker - the rally events take up to 8 days, which means you WILL forever miss 9 UCD cars, and you'll never know what was in there. :banghead:

All I know is I bought a game that "has" a C5-R in it, and I still can't drive it after playing (and being very good at it) 10 months.

Removing arcade features like credits would actually bring GT5 closer to being a simulator.

Also, what would remain? Racing. You're actually adding to the game by taking credits, levels, etc, away.

But really there should be no need to compromise. GT5 can provide a simulator like mode and a GT mode at the same time.

GT2/GT4 didn't have damage, online, 1000 cars, 16 car races, and some other things either.

I agree to this thread to an extent. Prize cars should just be prize cars won by doing certain tasks. That would've actually kept the game alive a lot longer then a few months... PD did do some things wrong with the game, but also the glitches made vehicles lose their rarity altogether. Now with the OCD being 0 mile/cheaper cars, any vehicle is just not rare anymore. Aside from some DLC cars even the FGT rarity went out the window. I remember when everyone was looking for one then PD came out with the OCD. Now everyone wants to just delete them. Certain cars should be rare and not being able to just buy in the UCD or OCD. Would add things to look forward too in the game more. Though its to late now. Maybe next GT game?

I think PD should bring back the used car system they had in GT1/2 where each manufacturer had their own used dealership. More likely to find exactly what you want then.

Here's an idea for all those who want to feel special about getting a rare/hard to find car, how about when it pops up in the OCD you don't buy and continue to hunt in the UCD that way you still feel that sense of accomplishment for getting the car the hard way.

PD made every car in the game accessible, this is what a driving game is about the cars, not being the only person with said car in the world. What the hell does that do for someone who plays a video game anyway? Reality check is what some individuals need, this is a game; perhaps in real life rarity is something great but in a video game with it's limitation such a thing is foolhardy. Why make it impossible to get cars by making them inaccessible by having you perform incredibly hard tasks. Anyone who has player GT2 in it's entirety can attest to some pretty hard Gold licensing that gave you some sweet cars. Thing is in GT5 none of the prize cars for the licenses are something so awesome, heck if you owned any GT before it, you probably owned the car before.

If we really wanted rarity, we all pretty much still have it. Your tune for a certain car is as rare as anything else, no one else can say they have the exact tune. There you are the proud owner of a exclusive club or rare car tunes. Now if we had a livery editor then we can really get down to some rare things. Simply put we all paid the same money for what's on the disc, no point in making things so hard to get that you can't enjoy it, what creator wants only a few people to enjoy his creation? You want as many people as possible to try it so they can enjoy it.

If you really desire to do something rare in GT5, beat the game Platinum, that is a rare club. I tell you right now I can care less about beating this game, I am all about enjoying the cars and tuning and buying and racing against others online, finishing the game completely, probably will not happen this generation of systems for me at least. More enjoyment in racing online, tuning then trying out different cars beating my own lap times. Hope there is more in the pipeline for GT5 from PD and Co. I do hope they have some sort of livery thing in line even if it works mainly on Premium cars, it's a start. Enjoy the game you see fit, don't complain that it's too accessible it's a mass market game and in this big business of making money you have to be accessible as possible. Granted many things in GT5 are still suspect like AI now backing off when you tail them too closely or take away their line, it's too easy in that respect. They need to remove some of that human element(fear) in the AI and let them drive the wheels off those cars. Anyway back to buying cars and grinding out cash, never go below 10 million :).

We're asking for things to be the same for all. Not going to happen, but it's always nice to share one's opinion.

I'd like the game to be more like real life. Oh well.

I'd prefer it just to be impossible. What races, contests, licenses give you a car?

We get that you want to make the game's economy considerably worse than it already is. We do.

The problem is, you still haven't given a reason regarding why.

I thought threads like this only belonged to pokemon players...

Hardly anyone drives standard british cars, or at least i havent seen them a lot. Go find some sort of older tvr or aston martin, i doubt the OCD will have those very soon.

How does this relate to Pokemon? I don't get it sorry. Help me with this one.

Why? I like reality and what it offers. I like to play games as an alternate life.

It means what it means. I don't see another way of explaining it.

It doesn't mean anything. That's why I'd like it to be explained rather than just dumped as justification for everything.

Is it not an explanation? If someone else could take what I said and put into terms Toronado understands (No offense?) that would be great as I don't know any other way to say it.

Yipee, 2,500th post.

It means he wants to live vicariously through the game.

I'm glad we have the OCD for the simple fact the cars have 0 miles and are brand new. Ever since then, I cleared all the used ones I had. New > Used.
It's like having the premium dealerships for the standard cars.

I always hated the fact Forza has "unicorns".
