Well i don't want to be touchy but allowing instant access to all cars and duping cars is one of reasons why GT5 is such bad "game".

One of the reasons for playing those OMG hard races in GT4 were cars you couldn't buy.

If you don't agree then try to remember how awasome was to recive formula1 car ???.

I think IGN as poor reviews they usually do had this gold line :

" it's 10/10 simulator in 5/10 game"

There is no reason to try take on endurance raaces other than salfacomplishment.

As for me it would be satisfacionary but 95% people playing GT don't see any value in doing 24h.

This is also the same reason why game progress is all about GRINDING to death indy...

Why wold you try to win that car if you could buy it grrinding a little indy ?

Creating a game is all about developing a progress in one way or another. Giving instant acces to all cars and tracks it's bad design.

PD is at flaw here because they didn't secure game for things like duping so many people were turned off when stick and carrot were nowhere to be found anymore.

Saying GT is all about racing not about collecting is ignorant because you are not someone who can decide it. PD created trading system and used car dealership for something. Things gone wrong when people started duping cars and trading them.

I'm one of people who got burn by that.

Before premiere i was hyped about X1 instantly before my eyes i saw Formula GT 24h challange from GT4 and how awasome it will be to acomplish that again.

Well not anymore, some "friend" just gave me it even before event would start. Instantly my steam just run off and i was all like "****"

Many people playing GT feel their satisfaction from beating time laps but for many other some prize other than cash give more satisfaction.

As of topic that "you can spend weeks looking for your car" is outright lie. Anyone who has more than 2-3 friends playing gt can have most cars in no time simply by treading and that was truth since day 1.

I know many people thinks GT5 should be considered as full simulator like iracing with full acces to all cars , tracks since day1 but GT is also a game. Good old stick and carrot still is what motivates people to play GT since it's beggining. After few weeks months when we have most cars we focus on pure sim aspect.

You're on the right track, but you are blaming the wrong root cause. The reason that people spend so much time and effort duping and ticket farming is because GT5 is broken in regards to credit payouts, used car prices and inability to sell (or for that matter, re-win) most of the prize cars. There is little doubt in my mind that it wouldn't be anywhere near as popular/widespread to exploit if GT5 had a somewhat sane game economy. Similarly, with the credit system as broken as it still is, there is a similarly small amount of doubt that if it wasn't for duping that most people probably would have abandoned GT5 quite awhile ago, or at the very least reverted back to GT5:P.

It means he wants to live vicariously through the game.
I get that part. What I want to know is why making arbitrary changes that don't actually add to the realism whatsoever but would absolutely destroy any interest still lingering in this game for casual players are something that should be wanted to increase the "realism."

For example, EliteDreamer specifically said that the OCD cars should have the same price as the UCD versions, even though you can probably count on your hands the amount of cars in this game in the UCD that aren't stupidly overpriced. He's saying that this crap should be done for the sake of realism even though the changes he thinks should be done don't add to the realism whatsoever.

Or should I say; It shouldn't be so easy to obtain cars. Either make the cars more expensive, or give out less cash prizes in seasonals. I don't know, just throwing things out there at the moment.

Lol I dont get this
Wouldnt the normal UCD "ruin" cars rariety more than the OCD since it updates multiple times daily or when ever you race or practice whereas OCD updates once a week?

@Elite
do you know how many people were complaining about how hard it was to get cars
I bet if PD read your comment they would just give up lol

We're asking for things to be the same for all. Not going to happen, but it's always nice to share one's opinion.

I'd like the game to be more like real life. Oh well.

I'd prefer it just to be impossible. What races, contests, licenses give you a car?

1. It is the same for everyone, easily accessible anything else?

2. More like real life? Are you serious? How about each race take up more than a few laps and run more like 30-40 laps, when you crash and damage your mechanicals you are out of the race and then will be forced to spend cash to fix said car before the beginning of the next race, if not run the risk of not being able to race. While we are at it lets toss in more realism, no more pausing during endurance races, you need to use the bathroom take it to the pits and hope you have a back up driver whilst you relieve yourself. I digress, just poking fun there pal.

3. I'm lost what game are you playing? GT5 has prizes for getting all Bronze, Silver and Gold in all license tests in each of the 5 licenses. There are races in the Seasonal Events that net you Gift tickets for Level 21,21 and 23 cars.
I replied to this even though what you wrote had barely any point to what you quoted from me. You must have been tired when you replied, I'll give you that one. Anyway, all GT's since GT 2 have given you prizes for Golding license tests. GT5 is the only one where license tests are optional and it's fine by me that way, I still play GT how I normally did. License test first to unlock free cars then hit the road with said cars.

I don't think many people are getting the idea here, PD screwed up with the Credit/XP system. Too little credits, not enough variety of races and absolutely useless XP. So to counteract this big annoyance, they implemented seasonals with credit boosts and xp boosts(no idea why but fine none the less) and lots of races to play. Now then they checked out their UCD system and noticed it too was a broken pile of annoyances which some still remain to this day, and they then added the OCD to my joy this was what i was waiting for a place to pick up a standard car fresh off the show room floor condition. Why not? the Premium cars were the only one's you could do this with, now no more. Now all the cars can be bought with 0 miles, excellent. Now with the changes implemented we have easier ways to earn money to buy cars that we were looking for and now we can get said cars with 0 miles on them...it's a win all the way around.

Cars are only rare to you on your save, create another save and watch them not be so rare. I have two saves and one save I have yet to see a speed 12, but the other I have. Mind you both saves are 30+ A Spec level, it's just random stuff in the game, relax and enjoy.

there is a similarly small amount of doubt that if it wasn't for duping that most people probably would have abandoned GT5 quite awhile ago, or at the very least reverted back to GT5:P.

Game economy was ruined mainly thanks to duping. And duping cars aka "easy acces to all cars instantly" is the reason why many people leaved GT5.

Because after you have them all there is nothing that hold you back from leaving.

GT5P is inferior in every way so i can't see people backing to it.

level system was also stupid and completly useless.

Level should be counted by your game progression not by XP.

Hm...why are you crying about cars which were so easy to get anyways (b-day tickets, dupeing, trading, permanent borrowing).
Why do you care about how someone else plays the game? Why do you care what someone else does with his GT5?
Jealousy.

I have all cars in GT5 (apart from HKS CT230R, Audi R8 '05, Audi R10 and F1 2007 since they're prize cars) and I bought every single one of them, without any trading, b-day glitching or dupeing and my 2¢ on people who borrow glitch, b-day glitch etc is that they're completely missing the point (if you get a 330-P4 from a glitch you won't appreciate the car in the same way as if you did spend 20mil on it).

But people crying about OCD is a little bit too far. There aren't any rare cars in GT5 since no cars in GT5 (apart from DLC) have fixed numbers.
As one of people who spent weeks seeking for 2J and paying 15mil on it I don't feel as if it's unfair or what-not, I found it great so I could finally get a replacement 2D (because I installed rigidity improvement on my old one).

To sum it up:
- Stop crying about how other people play their game and especially if they're not doing anything wrong

(if you get a 330-P4 from a glitch you won't appreciate the car in the same way as if you did spend 20mil on it).

Yes and yes! I got the Jaguar XJ13 through the chromeline facebook thingy, I've been in it twice. I bought through sheer hard work the Miura, P4, MK4, F1 2007 & 2010. I regularly take these cars on free run to pootle around and love every second of having these cars. Would I care if there were 1,000,000 others? No. Because through sheer bloody effort I got mine and I enjoy mine, whereas those who duped won't find it as enjoyable, their way, my way.

Yes! And this is my point - we, who actually worked hard for our cars get to enjoy them.
Someone who has glitched for 330/Mk4 etc will never appreciate it as if he would if he had spent some effort into it.
Basic comparison is between:
1. Lottery winner
2. Self made man

Let's say the money they have is equal. Person 2 will always enjoy himself more than the person 1 (this isn't always the case but the general consensus is such). This rule applies to GT5/games too.
To put it short - those who earned all of their belongings feel much better about themselves.

1. It is the same for everyone, easily accessible anything else?

I meant I'd like my ideas for everyone else. :)

That would be cool though! I would absolutely LOVE to have that in a game!

I'm speaking about real life. What licenses, races and such give you a car when you win? And yes, I was quite exhausted when I posted that reply.

Because after you have them all there is nothing that hold you back from leaving.

If you leave GT5 because you have all the cars, I'd have to say that you were never interested in the game in the first place. Toronado is right, duping made the game more fun and extended its life because you cut past all the non sense and actually play.

Or should I say; It shouldn't be so easy to obtain cars. Either make the cars more expensive, or give out less cash prizes in seasonals. I don't know, just throwing things out there at the moment.
So you want there to be even more stupid grinding than there already is.

Because, once again, it is only "easy" to get cars now in relation to when the game came out. Compared to GT4 or especially GT2, it is still like pulling teeth.

No. If duping wasn't in the game, accidentally or not, even more people would have abandoned the game than already have. People would not have put up with GT5's game economy for this long if there wasn't a way around it, and duping provided that way.

GT5P is inferior in every way so i can't see people backing to it.
GT5:P does several things better than GT5 does in relation to multiplayer, not the least of which being that GT5:P has real leaderboards.

After sifting through the 10 pages of this thread I have yet to see any legitimate argument for not having rare cars in the OCD. An elitist attitude of feeling smug and happy when you're the only one in an online lobby with a rare car is not a legitimate argument. Being angry that you bought a rare car in the UCD and the next day it appears in the OCD is not a legitimate argument. Calling it unfair for the players who put in a lot of extra work for the cars is still invalid.

Let's look the whole, "unfair" argument from a different perspective. I got GT5 in December. Now after 10 months of owning the game I am given the opportunity to purchase the rare Chaparral race cars. Other players who spent more time earning money to buy them got to experience them over and over again for months before I did so what's the problem?

Oh and also...
Or should I say; It shouldn't be so easy to obtain cars. Either make the cars more expensive, or give out less cash prizes in seasonals. I don't know, just throwing things out there at the moment.

...dude quit while you're behind.

I'm not going to quit. It's not like I'm telling PD to do this and that. I'm sharing what I feel how things should/could be, unlike wishlist threads.

EliteDreamer
For the most part, I just hate the fact of how easily others acquire said car. [..] I prefer realism at it's maximum in a game.

Then please delete that CLK that you won from your garage. Noboy wins such a car in real life. You can pay a few millions for it in the OCD, just like you would do in real life.

Also, while in your garage, please delete all prototypes or one-off cars you have. I already bought them.

On second thought, just throw away your copy of GT5. You've crashed and died. Why did you buy the game in the first place?

I don't own a CLK.

I've already been narrowing down my cars for the past few months.

I bought it because I've played GT as long as I can remember. I grew up with the game so naturally I get the next in line.

Very much disagreed. During all the five years I played GT4 but I could never afford the LMP and Group C cars and my amount of races won in GT4 far surpasses that of GT5. This time around I have all of them and it was that way already before the seasonals were elevated to ridiculous prizes. Money is certainly easier to get in GT5 than it was in GT4, at least as long as A-Spec is considered. Or then I'm just so damn good that everyone else struggled while I bought what I wanted... for some reason I don't believe that though. The lack of easy B-Spec cash most people were used to is a much more likely reason.

But the things you feel are so silly and borderline foolish for a game. 1000 Skylines available in a game with millions of players?!? You start by saying you feel "mighty" when you have a rare car no one else has. Then you say it upsets you when someone thinks you got a car from the OCD. Why do you care so much what other players in the game think of you and your car collection? I hope you aren't this insecure in real life.

You want cars to be rare in a game, you want the OCD to be more expensive and for seasonals to give less money and for what?
I'd like the game to be more like real life. Oh well.
You're completely missing the whole point of the game. There's a reason why there are prize cars and the bonus OCD and all of that - it's a video game. People want to have fun tuning and driving cars. They don't want to spend weeks on end scraping together enough money to purchase a car only to have it slip through their fingers by missing a day in the UCD and having to wait weeks or months before they see it again.

You want realism? Purchase a car and start competing in some actual motorsport events. But don't get a loan or ask you parents for money to purchase the car. Instead you must work a minimum wage job and use the savings from that job to get the car. That way it won't upset you when someone thinks you easily purchased the car some other way. Oh and make sure you get some random extremely odd rare car. You wouldn't want to show up in a Miata that everyone else has. You want to feel, "mighty" in your rare car.

1000 Skylines in existence would be cool, in game. 👍 I prefer to refer to my cars as my cars or garage of cars. I absolutely hate car collecting.

Difficulty.

Sounds like fun. 👍 I would actually like to try that. But wouldn't the purpose of getting a Miata, is too race the Miata with other Miatas? If I wanted something "rare" I'd get maybe an MGB race car and race it in one of those vintage sports car series or whatever they are. Did I really say anywhere that I want to feel "mighty" about owning a car? I don't feel mighty when owning a car. I fell special to have my own one of a kind car. Unless there is another car with the exact specifications excluding tuning.

Difficulty.
Doing Like The Wind 25 times is no more difficult than doing it 10 times. It is just more annoying.

Very much disagreed.
I really don't see how it is up to opinion. In GT4 you were awarded prize cars that could be sold and re-won at will, and most of the cars in the game cost considerably less (many of those to the tune of half) than the ones in GT5 do. Even if you didn't B-Spec everything, the prize cars alone in GT4 easily outpaced any earnings you can make in GT5 when you take into account how much more everything costs, and there aren't even that many Seasonal Events that eclipse GT4's best $/Minute ratio events.

And you could B-Spec everything.

Well if it sounds like fun I think you should give it a try. Keep us posted on your progress. 👍

Oh and here is where you said it.
I agree with the OP and the post DAGO made. Having a car, such as maybe a Toyota GT1. You feel oh so mighty, then you find many others have the car. Not so special are you?
It's all well and good to feel special having your own one of a kind car. You said you realize that it's a video game. People play this game for fun, shouldn't they be allowed to get that special feeling of driving a "rare" car? Why would you want to be the only one who can feel special? Sounds quite selfish to me.

Was I referring to myself? It was an example. Sure others may get they're own special feel for a car but not everyone gets too in real life. Why not have that kind of world in-game too?

*sigh* I think I'm done with this thread after this post, I just feel like I'm feeding a troll. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

When a person says, "I" they are referring to themselves and not giving a random example.

Again, I thought you said that you understood that it was a video game. Why do you always go back to a real world comparison? Do you understand that people play video games to escape aspects of the real world and experience things they would not be able to experience in the real world? Do you understand that people play racing games so that they can experience driving cars on tracks that they would probably never have the opportunity to drive in real life?

I almost lost my lunch reading this post, money is far easier to come by in GT4 than it is in GT5. If it wasn't for the online connection that GT5 has the main game would have been incredibly arduous to attain the amount of money to buy many of the LMP's you now possess. I smell a fib, there is no way without serious grinding you could have had purchased many LMP's before the prize boost, yes I mean the one that they instituted in December 2010. In GT4 everything was easier, I can attest because I still own the game and I have a serious amount of cars(2 memory cards full), remember the special events that you could win, clear and repeat prizes. Spammed that to no end because it was fun and gave you the option to sell cars. GT5 gives you what like that out of the gate? B Spec in GT4 also worked a lot better because you could tag team in endurance races with your B Spce driver, which to me is miles better than the AI only crap in GT5.

Simple fact that you have to abuse B Spec to get cash is completely different from GT4, as in GT4 is was fun to do the races on your own to spam, because it was actually fun to spam in GT4. GT5 took away all that was fun in GT4 and made everything so hard it was actually a chore, meager prizes, one time only prize cars that you can't sell. Why do you think that people spent so much time exploiting the game? Because getting credits was a pain in the ass, check out how ridiculous it was to get a certain car in the UCD and then have it show up too soon and not have the cash to buy the damn thing. GT5 was a slap in the face and a punch in the gut at the same time with how it handled prizes and monetary gifts. So players sought a way to amass cash quickly and also have to deal with the ridiculous 20 million limit on earnings, seriously what in the hell is that crap about; a trophy, really PD?

Just had to get that off my chest simply because you were erroneous in your statement about which game was actually harder to amass a lot of money. GT4 you could do so in a much quicker fashion than you we able to in GT5 at the outset. GT5 only now caught up and passed GT4 in quickly accessing money, but it offsets this by having a cap and having cars that cost 10 times as much as the most expensive cars in GT4, so your money doesn't goes as far either. Thereby cementing GT5 as the hardest GT in which to earn and spend money in an all round good way. GT5 is still a grind for me, even with the half million dollar payouts that OCD helped ease that feeling, but it's still there.

I go back to comparisons because I'd like a real-life replicated game. Yes and yes to your other questions.

Like I said before, the game has been out for 10 months.
Regardless of duping/trading/OCD, how could anyone think that because they just managed to win a car, they're going to be one of very few 'owners'?

Oh, and 👍 slims.

I hate when you finally find "that car" after weeks of UCDing, or give an arm and a leg for it on the Marketplace, and then...

... it shows up in the OCD. Half what you paid and none of the miles.

Especially when cars are expensive does this bother me. Finally bought that Ford GT40 for 20 large, with only 40,xxx miles on it? Bam, a virgin just showed up in the OCD for 10.

What a bad feeling.

What a bad feeling.

Why? The car showing up in the OCD or not doesn't make any difference at all. You still would have spent money buying the car from the UCD. It's not like the OCD makes your past spending worthless. Not to mention, you now get to have two copies of the car to do whatever you want with. One for borrowing, tuning, online, whatever. I just don't get these complaints. This OCD thing has happened to me a few times, I'm glad that I get more cars, at a discount, and without engine wear.

People just view things differently. Problem with that?

I have a problem with irrationality. You can't blame the OCD for your "misfortunes".

Especially since back ups or just waiting on the OCD will let you get around the problem.

Back
