@feverpitch82 - I'd like to further emphasize on the point that everyone wishes to stress out on you. Just because you have the racing line doesn't mean you can deprive your opponents of any room to maneuver. In fact, one of the things you must/should/have to do in a neck-and-neck race is to forget about the regular racing line and do your best to improvise so that you can defend/attack without any incidents occurring and keeping the race clean.
EDIT: What you SHOULD have done is punch the gas some time AFTER exiting the corner, not while exiting the corner, so that your car won't fishtail, in turn would not have hit the car beside you, in turn not knocking him off track, in turn avoiding unnecessary trouble. Bottom line, it's racing etiquette.
