Good question. I have seen youtube videos with split screen, but I'm not sure if this was just to show what each team members was doing in co-op and thus just a video effect of actual local co-op play?

Yeah online co-op is confirmed, US game has now been released so should be a slew of info and vids between now and friday.

Excellent, well not that the US have it and we don't but at least we'll get more information. I'm really very excited about this title, could well be my game of the year by far.

Although I haven't seen the game in action, reports and review are saying there is no split-screen, only online co-op and 16 player multiplayer. Rats.

Im in the UK and got an email today from shopto.net saying my pre-order has been despatched and should be with me in this morning!

The online numbers is a complete mystery to me, I've read stuff on the OFP2 forums that it's 8 players then other stuff that it's 24 then 16 players? There is a good recount of a defend attack match though, bridge capture where at one point one guy jumps in a humve and slowly drives across the bridge whilst the rest of the squad walk behind it using it as cover....20 min match where the first casualty was some lone wolf who ran off at the start straight towards the enemy and was promptly shot dead LOL

Heres the current console bug list......this is a good way to gauge a games problems at launch.

1. Voice repeating itself over and over.
2. The AI (enemy) sometimes just stand there.
3. Audio cutting out at random intervals (though rare)
4. Animations are still a bit off
5. Dead Zone Adjustments
6. Fix Game Saves Problems
7. Players in game size (ex: 8v8)
7. Ordering AI teammates to assualt a apc/tank they shoot it with there assualt rifles.
8. Enemy AI knowledge of Weapon Choice.
9. Enemy AI knowledge on long range shooting.
10. Connection loss in MP games
11. Ranking System Glitch
12. Sand Bag Glitch (Jumping over sand bag shoots you 10 feets into the air = death)
13. AI Blocking Line of Fire

Looking at it (and you will ALLWAYS get launch bugs) thats a really small list with no major issues, ie no freezes or framerate issues or any huge online conection issues. Most are AI bugs but the sandbag bug sounds hilarious.

Did you get the game already?

console has 8 players + some bots and PC has 32 players...

no key for multi and no dedicated servers...

Might be a noob question but what do you mean by "no key for multi"?

Just got word that my pre-order copy is lying at the store for me... Dont have time to pick it up tonight though :( So probably tomorrow... 👍 Anyone else get the game yet on a console?

Nope pick mine up on Friday just going to book it now. Codes are generic aparently, posted on the official forum, there PC codes but aparently PS3 and 360 users say they work fine.

Sounds good... Think it will be possible to arrange a GTP showdown if the game turns out to be as good as it looks?? :)

co-op is where this game is going to shine and looking at it it seems (this is speculation from info gathered) multiplayer sees your team with 4 squads, each with 4 soldiers in it so a total of 16 players per side. But there can only be 4 players per side, thus the rest of the team members are AI players. So basicly there are 4 squads per side and these squads are role specific, sniper group, engineer group, rifelman group.....right so what you do in an online game is select a group and select a soldier in that group, the soldiers loadout is what you use (anti tank, sniper, rifelman ect) you then control that group as you would in single player, or all 4 players could join the same group.......anyway thats what I've gleaned as to how the system works.
What it dose mean though is 4 man co-op groups can transfare there teamwork and tactics straight into a full online 4v4 match where you basicly pit your team against another team of 4 (with the rest being made up of AI) Could be genius if it works well, or it might not LOL from recounts on the official forum it's making online matches tense afairs usualy lasting 20+ mins where tactics and close team work is the order of the day......so looks to be genius.

Ok, now you got me excited... this is the type of game ive been waiting for :) I'll let you know when I get my hands on it so I can join you online... 👍

OK I'll be on this weekend, no doubt starting with a late night session on Friday. co-op hardcore sounds like the one to go for. just been watching a live stream for 2 hours..I'm prety excited from what I watched, the guy even had 2 online matches on the airfield. I can see this game is going to have alot of DLC, the PC game editor should mean new senarios should be numerous and if not free, very cheap!
Youtube is now getting some good videos in as well, the only problem is the enemy engages at a fair distance and low quality youtube videos don't really work well for this.
Quick one on the live feed, the guys assaulting a village of say a dozen buildings with a friendly APC of to the right of town and you find yourself pinned in a barn on the edge of town. He had his suport gunner out the back going through ammo like no tommorow until he got dead, then he placed a claymore on the back door to cover the rear and he was picking targets off through the front doors. The really cool thing was watching the enemy AI moving from cover to cover in teams whilst giving each other covering fire....but thats not the cool thing, they were moving in 2 formations one left one right in arcs to get round the back of the barn to outflank him! they were even keeping there distance to over 100 meters whilst using cover to move. He must have been in there 5 mins before he paniced, threw a grenade, promptly blew the barn up but not before getting out of there......only to be mowed down by the flanking enemy! Truely spectacular cockup!

I have been trying to get this game for 2 days and no one has it. I'm starting to think that gamestop had some kind of exclusive launch day release or something. Everywhere I go they say they won't have it until the 10th, but gamestop has them. I will not buy games from gamestop anymore so it looks like I'll be getting it late. I hate gamestop.

Well I just got to play the release version for nearly 4 hours straight......Verdict? It's great! What you want a "little" more info than that? oh ok, it's REALLY great!!

Only played single player so don't ask me about multiplayer as I didn't even bother, single player just sucks you in! Important stuff first, I played it at a friends who got his preorder copy early, unfortunatly he's on a SD TV but even so the graphics look very very good, not COD, KZ or DF2 good but it's a sandbox game and as such it's comparison would be the GTA games which it certainly beats hands down graphicly! No frame drop issues even when the screen is full of smoke and tracer fire and there's no evidence of pop up when looking off into the distance either. Sound wise.....your in for a treat working out which way the helicopter is coming in from to what cal of weapon is thuding bullets around you to the distance mortars are droping in on you is all crystal clear and not only adds to the enviroment and tension but also aids you in gameplay.

Oh and sonicly the explosions are as huge as the visuals.
Right the controls, they work very well, the comand wheel is extremly complex but after an hour you'll be whizzing through it without thinking about it but at first YOU WILL STRUGLE, as there is alot of button presses maped onto the pad, but thankfuly they all feel to be in the right place and work quickly.

Aiming, this isn't COD, you need to take aimed steady shots, there are times when full auto from the hip reactions gets you out of trouble if you stuble over an enemy, but this is the exception not the rule. most times your in single shot going for the one shot one kill headshot. not the easiest thing at 300+ yrds with a 2X voom red dot! most fire fights however take place at 100+ yards but still require a degree of acuracy.....scrub that you have to be very acurate at 100 yards LOL

OK AI, your team mates can sometimes be a little gungho but on the whole there prety good, the enemy AI on the other hand are stuning, covering fire flanking manouvers using smoke for cover over dead ground is the norm, ambushes from hell are the other norm, have to say it's the best AI I've seen from the enemys side of things, there a little too agresive at times but hey so would you be if you were being shot at and you had superiority of numbers!

Gameplay......engrosing stratergy which has a great sense of tension which will see you trying not to be spotted, hunted for miles, hiding from gunships, taking part in huge rolling battles, going it alone at the dead of night.....ect ect.

Weapons.....Yeah theres lots LOL there all rectreated graphicly and sonicly to a high standard, watching your guy reload one of the many anti tank guns will really show you how anal codemasters has gone into recreating the weapons. Now as for customizing your own personal weapon.....nope! you get what your given or what you can find on the dead or in amo cratres, there is alot of them though and all feel individual and are perfect for set tasks.

Quick overview, I played the game at a friend of mines who's ex forces as I am, we both competed in the recent national/european airsoft compertion (and won...go team bravo LOL) So were prety much well versed in military tactics, the game had us smitten with it. The open nature of it means if you want to attack a position in a certain way then you can, even the map view gives you terain details (gullys and ridges) to aid in this. The AI is clever enough to counter whatever you come up with in a realistic manner as well. We played in normal mode and found it hard........not imposibly so but certainly a tough challenge which has you constantly thinking and counter reacting to the AI. Didn't try it but co-op is going to be this games key point. we only had one copy and were playing single player but were both offering tactics as we palyed through the first couple of missions.

If your after a FPS similar to COD.....you may find this too tedious at times, if you want a celibral tactical shooter which has huge depth of gameplay then this is simply the only game to have. Goodby SOCOM, Operation Flashpoint has arived!

any questions I'll try and awnser them from my limited time with the game, sorry for the rambling post it's late and I've just got back. Oh yeah it was the PS3 version and I'm in the UK and the island..........HUGE, you know it's big when on the small island doing the training your near the end of the first mission and you can see a marker saying "secondary mission 2.6km" and yeah we grabed a car and went for a drive LOL

Quick update
stuff I forgot to mention. brick walls good, woden walls bad! it's not to the extent of COD4 where a 9mm round goes through a brick wall like it was made of crdboard, but hiding in a wooden barn from a suport gunner will see splinters flying everywhere followed by death! As it should be! And on the subject of dieing the system works thus, you get shot, you start to bleed, you have a "health meter" this will continue to go down till you patch up your wound. get it by a big enough round in a soft spot and your dead though! Right wounds, you can be hit in the groin, either legs or arms, chest or head. this is shown on a icon on the screen. say your hit in the leg. you heal it, then you'll find it's not all that easy to run....in fact you can't run at all LOL each area hit has an effect on your character.
Windows and buildings, every building you can enter, and if theres an upstairs then you can go up. right when your in there if you need to shoot out just shoot out the windows, simple, but be warned all buildings are destructable, and not in a good way like battle field. you can rarley toss a grenade to blow a hole to make a snipe spot, you can on heftier buildings but normaly you'll flatten most wooden buildings if you try this, and shooting repeatedly into it will put holes it it not bring it crashing down.
Finaly, fire suport........there are many many options, but nothing clears a vilage of enemy and buildings like a howitsre high explsive barage on wide spread.....FIRE FOR EFFECT!

Played it for a few hours today, played single player campaign and 3 missions on multiplayer coop.

The game is 1 player only on the 1 console, multiplayer is via LAN or PSN and is 8 players MAX, The coop I done was with 3 americans,2 of which had headsets on (mine is in a drawer somewhere with a dead battery) but i listened in to make sure i wasnt in the line of fire and make sure i was there to patch up the wounded (being the medic)

Enemy AI is just EPIC (when it isnt glitching..it stays still but is running on the spot if u get me) They will regularly try and flank you/sneak up on you and take very good care of each other (incapacitated enemies are regularly patched up so they can continue firing at you)

Havent tried online VS mode yet but it has a mode where 4 players are on a spec ops team and the other 4 people are part of a larger team (filled with AI) and the small team have to infiltrate an area defended by the AI and the other 4 guys...sounds great!

You played as a mute medic.....LOL
I would really recomend playing this game with a headset if your playing online.
Glad you agree with the enemy AI, the AI medicing each other I saw on quite a few ocasions. when you hit one you get a white doted X flash on your crosshairs, this means you've just wounded them, depending on where you hit them or what gun your using this may simply have winged them and they will just go to cover and then start shooting again. You might hit them and they go down and won't get up unless there medic gets to them in time, but unless you get a RED X flash up you haven't killed them! Shooting enemy while there on the ground writhing around may sound a bit calous but unless you do a medic may get to them and there back in the fight! basicly the hit rules you have apply also to the enemy AI. You can of course use this to your advantage if your sniping and leave a wounded enemy down, then just wait for the medic.......2 for the price of one LOL The enemy are inteligent enough to try and medic any of there bretheren that are down, useful tactic if your shooting from long range or a strong defensive position.
Oh yeah you can hear the enemy AI talking and moving about once there 25 yrds or less away, if your entering or potentialy clearing a building take a little time to see if you can hear guys inside.
On the subject of tactics your 4 bigest friends are the single shot selector on your gun, the terain, team mates and the map! Use these 4 things well and with a little logical thinking you can overcome most things in the game.
In the game you'll see yellow marker flags which are waypoints. There is actualy no need to go to any of these if you don't want to. the game is open world so look at the map at the begining of a mission and see if theres a better route, be aware though that the enemy AI isn't stupid and that undefended route in the back way will more than likely have a dozen guys waiting to tear up your team in a textbook ambush. I know, they did it to me on 2 occasions, I only escaped due to copious amounts of smoke, a howitzer barage on the ambush position (an entire ridgeline) and the run button! "Don't panic Mr manering"

Ok... thats it for me... I'm going to pick up my copy today :) Thanks for the info Hereward! 👍

Look at about 2:05 of that video. That reload animation is absolutely terrible!!!!!!! I'm not trying to hate, but this game just doesn't look too great.

I plan to rent the 360 version this weekend. Just heard of this abuot 3 days ago. Didnt catch my attention until someone mentioned 4 player co-op.

Haha, yes sir, that was horrific! Overall those graphics look mediocre at best, especially the grass close-up. Still, the game is gonna be worth a rent before a buy.

At least you can stay on target with a sniper rifle... unlike the BS kick it gives you in COD4 (very unrealistic). And the sound effects are fantastic!

Is anyone online at the moment, because I am up for some co-op action on the first level.

360 Version
I should be renting this tonight after work if they have any left. Actually I just reserved the rental for 2 of them so I will have them for sure tonight.
