We did a couple test races at HSR last night, if they were any indication of what we'll see tonight I think we're going to have some really good racing. 👍

Anyone know a decent time around HSR? Just so I have something to shoot for in the event I can run some laps later on myself.

I think I was an 11.20 without draft, I think anything in the 10s gets P1.

:12.5 was my best without a draft.......so sad.

Anybody else's GTP app being funny? For the last two days I can only post something if I quote another post. It's like this on all three of my devices.

It's just you...

Yeap. Posting this via app.

Huh. On all three devices when I hit the "reply" button it pops up the reply screen and I can type into it but the "send" button is grayed out and I can't actually send it. But if I quote a post everything works, even if I delete all of the quoted post. I've uninstalled/reinstalled and that doesn't fix it, and my phone is only 4 days old so it has a very fresh install. It's always been a buggy app, but not this bad. Oh well.

What kind of phone are you posting from?

The last post and this post are from my Mac at work. The other devices I've been trying are an iPad, iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 and I get the same thing on all three of them whether I'm on wi-fi or cellular data.

EDIT: See the grayed out "send" button? This was immediately after another uninstall/reinstall. :(

Hey now...

B,

I'm on a 4S with iOS 6 and no issues here or at home on my iMac.

Very bizarre. I'm not sure what else to try. At least I know how to work around it for now. Last night I was trying to post that we were in the lounge practicing but couldn't get it to go, it was only afterwards that I figured out I could quote a post and make it work that way. Oh well.

Anyway, here is my track guide:

Turn 1-2: Flat out, keep it smooth. Don't get fancy with the rumble strip on the outside entering 1, it will drag you into the wall.
Turn 3:Brake a little late and take a mid to high line. Never try and hit the apex. It is very dangerous to ride the top line but it is faster, good for qualifying, tricky for a race.
Turn 4: Trail-braking into a late apex is key. Enter wide, come in tight and late.
Turn 5: Drive into the corner wide, tap the brakes to point the nose in and don't get back onto the gas hard until you know you won't have to lift off. The exit of this corner has a big effect on lap time.
Turn 6: Just hug the inside.
Turn 7: Keep wide and turn in, no braking needed and don't lift. Like in turn 3 the high line is the fastest but even more deadly if you hit the rumble strip on the outside.

Nice Carr. 👍 I'm pretty sure I lose most of my time in turns 4 and 5. I can get a really good exit out of 5 which minimizes the time lost but my entry into turn 4, while safe and steady, is not the fastest which compromises the entry to turn 5. For the rest of the turns I'm balls to the wall and don't think there's any real time for me to gain through them, seemed to be able to keep up with you through them last night but you'd open a small gap through turn 4. Draft balanced it all out though. :)

Nice post Carracer, 👍
I also seem to lose a little time on turn 5. Turn 7, I'm getting a steady 124/125mph that full turn. But it all changes when there's cars in front/back of you. It would be nice if they were all in back of me!:sly:

Should be a good run! I hope its a good turn-out and minimum mistakes/issues.

Anyway, here is my track guide:
Nice.
Tire-saving guide: go hard into turn 4, right side tires are getting less wear anyway. Be gentle on tires in turn 5 and ease off the throttle a bit in turn 7. Catch-up with the pack by turn 1 and stay out of trouble in turn 3 ;)

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone ran a race distance test to see if it can be done without a stop?

I'm curious if anyone will gamble and go for it considering the pit delta on this track is rather long compared to most.

FWIW I ran 20 laps last night, I had about 3/4 left up front and just a little more than that in the rear. Didn't seem like much wear but there was a noticeable change in the handling and my times were starting to be around a half second slower. So a no-stopper is probably possible but the last 5-10 laps will likely be very hair-raising! :scared:

^^^

I've done about the same... I won't be making that gamble.

Yeah, I don't see a no-stopper as a good strategy. It could work if at least two people do it, but if others pit these two would be the leaders and shouldn't bump draft, which kinda defeats the point.

Haven't turned a wheel at this track since iForce and I tested Zonda R tunes here back during the Capp Cup days. I gather target times are in the 11's...I'll see if I can get in a few laps before the race...lol.

I assume bump drafting is still strongly discouraged...just askin'...

An organized pack could run low 10s, follow the pack is my plan A.

Turn 3 and 5 are tire eaters. it will be interesting seeing how slow you can go and keep the draft.

Discouraged among the leaders, yes. The rest of the field can bump draft to catch up to the leaders though. It's not a set in stone rule, just a request to help keep the pack a little tighter. 👍

Lounge open around 19:00?

Lounge open around 19:00?

Correct. Qualifying will start at 20:00 EDT. We will do qualifying the same as last season, collisions and draft will be ON and while I'll ask that we try not to draft it's going to be hard not to at this track, but it's also not quite as important.

EDIT: "goes to dig flame suit out of closet" :nervous:

I may be a bit late 7:40 ish, should be OK I think.

Someone else can have the first crash of the season. Don't really feel like racing.

Looking forward to some ORCA tonight. :)

Well, I guess that would be me. :indifferent:

I'm opening the lounge now, qualifying will begin at 8pm EDT sharp.
