Someone else can have the first crash of the season.
That'll be me. Case of Heineken here and I'm pregaming this one.

I like mixing beers in my stomach. Makes racing more excitingThat'll be me. Case of Heineken here and I'm pregaming this one.
BrandonW77Well, I guess we have a new procedure. If there is a multi-car crash as a result of lag I reserve the right to call a full course caution, we will slow down until everyone catches back up and then go green at my command. Hopefully this won't happen often, I'll probably only do it in the first 5-10 laps (depending on track) and probably only if I see it happen and can confirm it was result of lag (I did see it tonight). This can be a sticky area so hopefully it doesn't happen often, but it's happened twice now so I figured I should make something official.
Good racing tonight that I saw, not sure what happened in the back half though because for some strange reason I spent the whole race near the front.I know the racing at this track is a bit artificial but that was some of the most intense fun I've had racing. 👍
Naptown25rsI feel like unless this is an all or nothing thing, there will be too much room for issues to arise... Calling one incident "lag" and the other a "racing incident" on the fly just seems like too much of a gray area.
Had to work tonight, just leaving but I am about 30 minutes out, doesn't look like I am going to make it. Will see what time I get home.

EDIT:

Naptown25rsAbsolutely no doubt that the second incident after the restart wasn't lag?
I didn't see any other incident. Which is why it's a gray area, like you said. I don't really want to do it but I felt like the half of the field that got taken out wanted me too. I did it once before at Motegi oval when lag wiped out half the field in the first couple laps and everyone agreed it was a good thing. The alternative is to say that after tonight there will never be a caution called for lag or otherwise, the race keeps on going.

Sucks to put in an hour or two of practice, come to a race and get taken out through no one's fault but Kaz/PD in the early laps or at any point really. If we have at least a partial remedy to that I'm all for it. I want everyone to have a good time racing and an equal shot at a good finish based on their skills, not random luck be it good or bad.
How great would it be for GT6 if it was a sim designed around racing, rather than racing plugged into a sim?!?! A button or hotkey or something available to the Race Director enabling PS4 to take over the cars on the track, a little caution flag waving in the corner of your tv, and an auto restart at the flag at the RD's discretion. Can you imagine!!!?!?!??
dsgerbcOr maybe the person that keeps lag-crashing into walls and people should work on improving his connection. You know, at least the usual - making sure one is on the wired line, with proper ports open in the router and cache cleared.
Who was it that lagged badly at La Sarthe last season?
dsgerbcSame person. Plug a Motegi oval wreck.
Well let's discuss reality then.
I don't want to single anyone out. However when these issues can be pinned down to one racer. It seems only obvious to have the discussion.
Also wanna say these connection issues stink.always leads to a tough decision for the head cheese.

I'm handling it. Any advice on how to address these problems (links to opening router ports, etc.) would be helpful if anybody knows of some good resources.

Or put a cold beer on top.
- Rest your router before any big races.
http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/gt5-online-connection-issues.29944/
Covers the basics.
Other things:
- Disconnect every other device that's online (!) Basically if it is plugged in it's using bandwidth.
- Watch out for friends and or family streaming netflix or doing something else online when racing.
- Googles DNS is very fast and a good thing to setup on your PS3 (no mater what).
- Clear your cache daily.
- Reset your router before any big races.
- Make sure your router is still working right (Before you call your internet service provide asking them why the networks slow)
- Go here: http://www.speedtest.net and see if it is at least close to matching what you ordered from you internet service provide for internet speed. If it's way off, call them.

Select your router and follow instructions. If router not present - just pick random one and find similar settings on yours.
