2 words. Well deserved. This doesn't end the war. Hell, this may have fueled things to be worse. But justice was served to a man that plotted the plan that took over 3000 lives and caused pain to several familys.

What a horrible speech from Obama for such an important occasion. It went from "Al Qaeda hurt us really badly, boo hoo" to "I personally am responsible for everything" to "America does what it wants where it wants" WTH? None of that works.

How about a little more focus on our military, a little more focus on the message that we want to send, a little more focus on the bigger picture... terrible speech.

Also... awesome that we finally got him.
What do you expect from a man who reads from a teleprompter all the time?
This fascination with death is somewhat disturbing. I'm glad justice has been served, but this mob at the White House and on Facebook and Twitter isn't normal.
It's not a fascination with death itself. It's the fact that one of the world's worst terrorists is now dead. You don't think the Jews celebrated when they learned Hitler killed himself? Or those when Saddam died?

Men like them don't deserve life.

At the very least, the mods could give the 'honour' of being the official thread host to someone who actually edits and posts information in the OP.

Not a random, "What will it be about?".

To tell you the truth, the first thought that crossed my mind was, "Great, they've gone and staged as raid, set up a press conference, and are lying to the world."

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn't put it past them. Show me the videos and pictures of this raid and Bin Laden, then we'll talk.

I've got this really bad coincidence going on here. Yesterday night before all this bin laden stuff I was researching the Soviet war in the middle east (for my own knowledge) and now this happens, kinda weird eh?

To be honest, I couldn't have been happier after hearing this. This is not only a victory for Coalition forces in the Middle East, but a victory for peace and freedom around the globe.

There's raw footage of the raid actually & the mansion being burned as they entered.

They show it on BBC from time to time. Perhaps come morning news in the US, they'll show longer snippets of it.

Unfortunately, in these cases, as in most cases with duplicates, first thread first.

The Spanish news channel (which is known to show lots of graphic footage) showed a photo of his bloody head with debris all over it. Fake or not, it was definitely gruesome. I am glad he was caught, just for the families who suffered because of him and his cause.

Funny how the guy responsible for making this happen (Obama) gets hated on for saying the very thing he should have said. I'm sure we'll get a big speech about it tomorrow (or later today rather) thanking the troops and the intelligence etc. But give credit where it's due. He obviously had made the decision to gather the intelligence and spearhead a group to achieve this intelligence to locate Bin-Laden's whereabouts. It's the presidents job as commander in chief to give the 'okay' in serious missions like this. If any of you think you wouldn't say the same thing as Obama did, you're not a president. He's showing leadership. Much rather this guy in office than baby Bush. On top of it all- no civilians, and no friendly casualties! That's pretty much a CLEAN SWEEP! Way to go!

The Libyan rebels? Yep, Al Qaeda.

Bin Laden was a CIA man. It's not like they couldn't find him. They probably just needed an opportunity like this one so that they could retrieve the body and intelligence instead of just blowing everything to hell.
I think thats stretching it a bit far, but it is interesting that Osama was in such a big house out amongst the population.

Then again, being in the middle of nowhere alone is what would get him caught.

Damn he had a $50million bounty well there goes my chance of being rich.

*** Big Edit!!

I've chosen to edit / issue correction for the below text ( now in italics), not sure if anyone is going to start at the start of this thread and read through. But I'm doing it for accuracy, I'm like that. The original text below is all based on what I saw on the local TV news. Which I found out later was showing a fake 'dead Bin Laden' image.

The 6pm evening news here showed the picture of his dead body.

They warned as they were going into the story, then again as they were about to put it up.

It was pretty gruesome, but I've seen worse. The face a bit bloodied with a injury mark in the middle of forehead. They put a comparison shot of the live Bin Laden next to it, a bit un-necessary, the distinctive beard was the same.

I'd hate to be Donald Trump right about now. Obama said he "had better things to do" than show his birth certificate to the country. Now we know what those better things were. Obama found the most wanted man in the world after he spent a decade in hiding. What have you done lately, Mr. Trump?

That's right. You fired Gary Busey.

Was roasted by "The Situation" as well. 👎

A shame they coudn't catch him alive and bring him to trial though.

I wonder how much the hunt for Osama has cost?

It's really cool that they actually found him. I figured they never would / or he was already dead with any evidence of his body completely disposed of. Sneaky :censored:er managed to hide from the most powerful country on the planet for 10 years.

I must say, that's a stirling list of achivements.

Let's be realistic here - Osama bin Laden was never, ever going to be captured. He was always going to be apprehended and killed in a firefight. If bin Laden had been taken alive, it would simply be too dangerous; al'Qaeda would do everything in their power to get him back. If they had a nuclear device (and some senior figures claim they do), they'd likely hold an entire city hostage with it.

Realistic? Being realistic, I doubt Al Qaeda would have really cared that much about Bin Laden's capture, if they had/do - whats to stop them using a nuclear device in response to this assassination? Yeah, this was the "safe" option. :dunce:

I think the more likely reason that he wasn't captured was because it would have been pretty difficult, trying to capture someone with a gun and bodyguards isn't easy.
