RWD only, 550PP, Daytona road.

Here it is. Already had some good races here. NSX seems to be quite popular here.

Ladies and Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!

You beat me to it! I was just thinking of starting this thread after our races tonight. This event is definitely going to be a hit. Thanks to the growing NZ/AU evening crowd for great races yet again.

This sounds great event!

I think there might be many F512's tonight after 21.03 GMT. ;)

The 512b will be strong here. As will the NSX as usual. Hopefully the advantage the Clio had at Suzuka with R tires is voided here and we can all stop driving that car for a while. Though I'm sure it will be fast here, in the right hands or course.

I'm not big on this track, but it will be fun for a bit.

Quite a few cars are evenly matched although the NSX is quicker than these others it's still dominated by the Clio, another Clio Cup event coming up? Most cars seem to run on S3's unless you go for the American muscle, i recommend you don't the Z06 could only use N3's i think and you have to start braking yesterday.
Only downside to this event, it's all about the draft and when you get the usual suspect's who like to weave down the straights/ slight bend in this case, it does spoil the race, are you listening you guys from BTH(HU), it spoils it when you weave just to preserve your position.

@ mad94d, Animera and all other NZ/AU racers:

Yeah some great racing last night, I'll be racing again tonight in the NSX. Hope to see you all there! 👍

I hope I can get some races with a full grid sometime tonight. I've been racing this afternoon in the 350Z, lapping in the mid-high 2'00s, so I'm confident I could battle with the fastest guys. I had a great battle with Rexc and VIPERGTSR01 earlier, it was very tough to overtake Rexc's 512 due to its straight line speed, but that made it much more exciting for me.

Cheers Jackington, a good race with you and VIPERGTSR01 👍. Unfortunately I couldn't stick around for more tonight :indiff:.

Certainly seems a good selection of cars are competitive in this event, and not just the usual one or two.

I like the variety too, I've raced competitively NSX's, Clios, Californias, 512's, 350z, M3's and a few others, all doing quick times, and in the right hands, certainly quicker than me on my setup. And the different cars and setups excel in certain places and lose out on others, combined with the two long (but much exagerated) slipstreaming areas, all makes for good racing.

Only thing I hate is people cutting right over the grass through the chicaine, cheats and losers the lot of them.

I'm using a normal maroon coloured Renault V6 Clio, (only becuase I am a mad hothatch and r26 fan), but I am still waiting for some decent setup's to be posted by the tuners though, I know there are a few old Suzuki ones people use (which I am using somewhat amended, but I never raced in that anyway) but I know mine can go a tad faster with a much better setup.

RX-8 is capable of 1'59.xxx.. fast enough to keep up with the cheaters. ;)

RX8 and RX7 fast too, so there's a good list of cars that are quick.

Loads of cars faster enough to keep up with cheaters?..yes.... unless the particular cheater is as good an anyone else in the same car but skips the chicaines, they got to gain as much as a second if they get it right?

Maybe PD should adapt a toting up penalty system where grass cuttings and punts lose you points, do it too often and you just can't enter expert level until you drive cleanly again and raise it. Maybe thats hoping too much!

Well, I just saw you doing the big no no thing on DR 550PP in a Clio.. Maybe you should start setting an example for others? I was only 12 seconds behind you despite starting from last position..

Experiment.....I just tried cutting the grass on one lap, it doesn't slow you down and you approach the second chicaine with alot more speed, so you can't do the second one very well, I lost time on the lap but thats probably becuase I approached the second one at a complete insaine speed that I'm use to so hit the wall on the way out, hard, lol.

And how come you can fly right over it online without a penalty?....If thats the way some of the cheats do it then good luck to them becuase it feels crap and unsettling, and requires luck. Experiment over.

Sorry Leionade, I was up there alone and wanted to try it on lap 4.

PD obviously have made a mistake there, by leaving the penalty areas out of that part of the track. Unfortunately, cheaters and spoilsports have spotted that as well and use it to boost their egos.

The reason I tried it becuase I got beat this afternoon by someone who did it everylap, and everylap he seemed to gain enough to avoid a slipstream, was quick infield, and got a 10.02 total time, it didn't seem fair everytime I closed in after the backstraight he got away through the chicaines.

I remember the early Daytona road online races where you got penalty for the times you were just touching the kerb, maybe PD have now gone too far the other way.

Busted!

I notice most that cheat the entry to bus stop (the chicane) usualy ruin the exit due to excess speed they dont want to scrub (like you mention).

I am yet to see a genuinely fast driver cut the bus stop.

Sonofa... I was having a nice, close race with TwistyBits and then the PSN signed me out. :( Anyway, your RX-7 is very fast, it was tough overtaking you on the straights!

I can't get to grips with the 512BB, I might try again with it later but I just can't get a setup that works for me.

I'm using the normal Clio V6, it doesn't seem to be used that much compared to the very quick NSX's, M3's, RX7's, 512bb's and others, and I've got my own setup that works ok for me with it, least I am consistant with it anyway.

If I see more than two 512BB's bashing it out between themselves, I'll try to keep clear.

I'd like to see more GTP users racing Daytona Road though, its more fun than alot think.

I'm currently racing in this event most nights.
Raced against a few from in here going by the GTP tags.
Currently using the NSX but last night raced against two Dutch guy's using Clio's, geeze they were quick, think I might have to switch.

Also racing on HSR (Evora) and Daytona Oval (sports cars) so will look out for you all.

Enjoy the racing :)

ballisticgt3 - i'll look out for you if your on later, I should be on from 7pm onwards in UK (I think its 2pm on the gt clock), but I don't use a GTP tag.

The clio is/can be a quick car once sorted (although the fastest lap times i've seen people mention are still with the NSX), but it needs a lot with the setup becuase its so easily tailhappy on this course, especially if you want to race consistantly quick with stability.

I've tried loads of base tuner recommended setups on GTP, before finding the one that suited me the most and adapting it my way for Daytona Road, but its a very difficult course to get a car right all round, you will always lose on certain sections against others.

Jes!....just had a race and saw "Skervykop (GB)" in a white NSX do a total time of 9.58.7x !!! My best is 10.01 although I know I could better it with some more drafting.

In the previous race myself, skervykop, and two BTH guys all went over the line in 10.01's.

I raced against those two BTH guys the other night (they were in Clios, me in NSX) and boy are they quick.
Thats why I've changed from the NSX (as you say very tail happy, and I'm trying to get a setup of RavenHaven for it) to the Clio which I'm currently quicker in.
Never finished a race in <10m, thats real quick, must practice more!
It's the bus stop chicane that ruins my lap time. Car gets all squirrely and it's hard to get a good exit speed without losing the backend.
