After one day of setting up everything and fighting with my fanatec wheel I have to say I love it! That so much more then I have expected. I come from the GT series and all I ever wanted was a real RACING simulator. And guess what? PC it is. Man this long races with 30+ cars are so awesome. I hope they fix the wheel issue and than we are looking on the next generation of Racing games. Bye Gran Tourismo we had a good time.

I'm wondering this as well, I've been able to turn the sound down (Options -> Audio, last option) and set it to 10%. At 2AM it was much too loud considering I've got neighbours.

I've gone through all the controller/gameplay/audio options but can't find anything that would push it to headphones.

So far so good though, managed to finish up the first Kart championship and didn't get on well with the super karts. Switched over to the Clio cup and having a really good time. AI was much too easy on 50% though - I think it's on 80 now and a bit better.

If I understand it correctly, you can adjust the DS4 speaker this way

1. Hold the PlayStation Button

2. Select Adjust Devices

At the top of the menu, select the ‘Adjust Devices’ You’ll be taken to a second menu.

3. Lower the Volume

The top option in this new menu reads ‘Volume Control (Speaker for DualShock 4)’. Use the d-pad’s left or right buttons to raise or lower the volume. A chirp will play out of the DualShock 4 controller as you adjust it to help you to find the right setting. Move it all the way left to mute it completely, and all the way right to get the maximum volume.

I'll say this, last night's fun was enthralling enough to make me buy two of these. I already had one. Now, I'll have the triple tv setup.
Onto the search for the wheel/pedal/shifter/seat combo to suit.
As I mentioned earlier, the DFGT works, but it is clearly the weakest link in my rig.

I'm patiently waiting for the consumer version of Occulus Rift!

I'm with you, but I think that is still 2 years off.
Haven't got space for a triple set up, but still very good via my big old Panny plasma on the wall! Loving the game so far. Very pleased with the physics, comparing it to Assetto Corsa.

Just ran out of petrol lapping a Mclaren F1 at Le Mans. With 5x the speed of day/night transition, seeing the track change around you and the sun going down shining through the trees, i can only find one word for it: majestic!

That's what's so good about the day/night transitions, you can do lap after lap as it stays interesting and refreshing, and the great physics, sounds and FFB help towards that enjoyable experience too.

When my fuel was running out (full 80 liter tank :dopey:), i wanted to pit and i selected refueling for 40 liters, but the car just drove straight down the pits without stopping. It was in free practice so probably you don't have pitstops available there?

Also; how cool is it that you can decide when to activate your headlights or windscreen wipers :) Waited extra long to activate the headlights just so i could check out how dark it became.
Indeed. I was messing around with different weather and night/day scenarios and love how one turn might be clear but next time around, the sun is glaring in your face.

Also, DO NOT race karts after dark.... or use full driving line for Mario Kart-ish racing.

Rainbow Road DLC! :D

Is there any way to turn off the motion blur? I'm getting motion sickness driving karts :crazy::crazy:

Only on PC.

longish post skip to the end for conclusions ;)

First impression wasn't great, new to the PS4 so lots of head scratching going on about how to get my wheel working, combined with the loss of the ability to navigate in game menus with a pad which made me kinda grumpy!

Moving onto the game itself the menus are a little over whelming, some have little or no information and the digital manual isn't worth the storage space :(

First laps in a Clio Cup Car at Silverstone, cold tyres came as a surprise :embarrassed: but the car handles super, lift off oversteer, cocking a rear wheel, great to see a front drive that's fun to drive at last! The force feedback didn't provide much information on what's going on with the front wheels though. so overall a good impression from the important part of the game :)

Watched a replay which was nice for 5 minutes, but I couldn't figure out how to exit it so shut the console down, it was late and I was tired...

I've spent a bit of time messing with FFB settings today and the Clio Cup, getting better and better but still lacks feel, so much to learn about here and so little information provided!

I've done a couple of quick races, and the first career event for the Clio Cup, all of which were enjoyable, Going to start turning the AI up a bit with the Clio 80 percent wasn't quite challenging enough for me personally ;)

The racing looks to have great potential once I get the AI dialed into my ability :) The battles I did have lasted a few laps before I made the passes required to get to the front and gap the field.

Great to see lots of UK circuits really enjoyed learning Oulton Park, my most visited Circuit IRL, great to get to know Donnington as well..

Not ventured online as I haven't payed the fee to access that part of the game, will save the 2 day pass for the weekend.

So first impressions in short!

1) Menus are overwhelming
2) Not enough information supplied
3) FFB needs some effort to get some feel
4) FWD driving is great :)
5) Offline racing has serious potential :)

Pretty decent, the physics are something to get used to, but for just a little bit of fun, it's great! Love the sound of the R8 and RGT-8, the rest of the sounds are sometimes a little disappointing though :indiff:

Anybody playing with a controller on the PS4, please share your opinion. Is it worth getting if I'm only going to play with the DS4? (for now)

Right only a couple of laps in Time T around Brands Hatch, in the Escort rs 1600, and it left me totally speechless and stunned, looks amazing on PS4, sound is totally out of this world, and by the way i need to learn how to drive again.

Unfortunately, my controller run out of juice, but so glad i have tomorrow off.

Started with the Clio Cup at Donnington and I have to say I've not had this much fun and enjoyment out of a driving title since TOCA 2 and 3, I love that every element from practice, qualifying to the two races (mandatory pit stop in the second - nice) was spot on.

Having the actually start a race correctly is brilliant (and I'm rubbish at it), the lift-off oversteer, understeer you can actually cure, that when you screw up you know its your fault and not just a physics issue.

The options, data, settings, stats are all exactly what I want from a racing sim.

It combines the feel of a race day that I haven't had since the TOCA series with what seems so far to be bloody good physics and more options that seem real.

Yes it does have some issues, mainly around polish more than anything, but all of these I can more than forgive for the physics, feel and overall event it provides.

This is going to keep me busy for a long time.

Love it!!!

Im a noob to steering wheels when I mentioned ive never used one since PS1 days and even then I was rubbish so I wasn't holding out hope.

T100 wheel in Clio cup championship on 60% difficulty and 10 laps per race and im loving it. The lift off overtsteer in the clio going down craner curves is abit bum clenching but all in really enjoying it. Ive done Donnington and Snetterton so far and managed to get 2 wins but they weren't easy at 60% using the wheel and in car view. Im so used to external view and DS4 so don't hate me. Suppose that's the beauty of the game in that you can tailor it to your ability.

Stupidly said I would do overtime tonight ahhhh.

PS you can clearly see elements of Shift, Race07 and Toca in the game. Really hoping for some more touring car stuff be it super tourers WTCC or BTCC

I haven't played this yet but reading the impressions make me miss my G25's clutch already, damn you Logitech.

Is there some kind of top speed test track in project cars?

It would be interesting to compare top speeds of same cars in Project Cars and GT6.

I'm glad to hear you say that as TOCA was one of the best racing titles on console, I'd even go as far to say a better racing game than the GT series at the time.

going to start my career tonight, had a laugh racing random cars and tracks but time for the serious stuff. actually, I think most of my time has been spent tweaking the FOV and adjusting my seat hahaha.

I'm slightly jealous of those who own ultra-spec PCs because it must look great on those, the PS4 version doesn't really blow me away too much, the tearing is distracting a little, but is pretty smooth and the actual driving is top class. no complaints there. I'm glad my favourite Driveclub car, the SP300/R is even better to drive now, the engine sounds great too, all gurgling and filthy sounding. nice.

hopefully all these bugs and niggles people are encountering can be eliminated in the not too distant future and we get a nice solid package.

off to a good start!

Will give a more thorough first impressions over the weekend but it's absolutely amazing how a single option can make a game infinitely better. Was having a hard time getting used to the cockpit view due to finding the driver/hand animation very, very distracting and ''off'' when using the DS4. The fact that we are able to turn it off has made this game click with me in no time.

Fan-🤬-tastic, SMS!

Also, thank you for letting me rock a 95° FoV.
