I guess when someone has no other accomplishments in life, video game accomplishments are all they have and must hold on to them very tightly or they will have nothing. Essentially the OP and a few others only have GT5 to keep them going day in and day out and it now kills them they are losing that.

I am not finding fault in anyone looking for a challenge in GT5. However, if it's challenge they are really after, online awaits. They'll find plenty of skilled drivers out there that won't offer a restart button.:)

+1:tup:

You've hit the nail on the head, it's all about sales and making the majority happy. Make a game too difficult and people will just walk away from it, which mean there won't be any further sequels.

It's really not that hard to understand. The global economy as a whole is in bad shape. Competition for your money is fierce. It makes sense to have a game that is readily available for anyone to play due to the amount of money that it could represent.

So, has your parenting skills involved going to your kids' schools and demanding that test scores be returned to sixties levels?

You might want to check your OWN comprehension skills as well, before you grab completely the wrong end of the stick.

My problem with the situation in the game is that it is a reflection of what is going on in society, not something isolated, alone.

You MIGHT also notice that I posted about NOT going back to get Golds for things that have been made easier. But once again, guess that involves reading

Oh, and, congratulations for the logic fail of complaining that someone is wasting their time worrying about a game, ON A GAME FORUM. Mind you, I suppose you have persuaded yourself that YOUR time spent here (and on the game) is legitimate, but only OTHERS are wasting their lives. :sly:

Nice...

Well, as a father, it's my responsibility to ensure my children are receiving the best education they can get. If the school system is not doing their respective job, the rest is up to me. Thanks for the concern.

Oh, I understood exactly what you meant. It's all about lowering the standard. However, I just don't see the reasons to get all upset over a game. As I stated above, if you are looking for difficulty, go online. You'll find a challenge, I promise you.

Yes, complaining about a game and posting over and over is a waste of time. I also never said that I wasn't wasting time. That was an assumption on your part. Being how you are 55 (as per your sig) you should understand that. But hey, I bet your grandchildren think you are cool for playing games. My children and nephews/nieces love the fact that I do.

Or the entertainment factor in flaming someone that, deep in your heart, you know actually has a point. :sly:

I understand that PD are working on a new game... GT Tic-tac-toe.

But, due to fears that it will be too hard to win all the time, you are allowed to make TWO X's on the first move.

Speaking of flame bait.:ouch:

GT4 took a very long time to finish

GT 4 also had a lot more A-spec events than GT 5, which was a big part of that. Sorry, but you have to at least acknowledge that fact.

I still say a difficulty setting would settle all of this. You could have easy, with no penalties, medium with some, and hard with lot's. That way the casual players could enjoy the game, and the hardcore challenge seekers could brag about playing it on hard (or extreme, or what ever you want to call it).

Destinkeys
I am starting to realize just how FEW playing GT5 ever played GT4.

No-one that loved GT4 could ever accept GT5 being made EASIER.

I played GT4 and enjoyed it, but I also hate the penalties. So I guess that makes me the exception to your blanket statement.

The easiest way to solve all the debate in this and many other threads: Difficulty levels.

I got half way through typing before I read your post. Glad to see I'm not the only one in favor of this.

Could there?

There are times when not having your age in your sig is a detriment. I am convinced there's a pretty sharp delineation in age between those that just want to WIN everything with no challenge, and those that want a good GAME. :sly:

I love how you keep attempting to group people into your logic by using terms, "everyone" and "No-one" ect.... when you are trying to make a point but in reality, if you go back through this thread, 3-4 people, including you and the OP have issue with the changes and the rest do not and welcome them. Why try and drag others into your delusions? It makes no sense.

I sympathise Destinkey's thoughts otherwise. I've only played GT4 before this - 100% completion and all golds - but I consider myself a fan of the series. Forcing us challenge-seekers to over-easiness thus depriving us of any sense of accomplishment is unfair.

Remember, the challenge-seekers are a very very small minority and do not put much money in the pockets of PD. If PD simply went after you, they wouldn't be in business long and you would have nothing. As has been stated before, there are still many challenges awaiting players in GT5. Simply running the bare minimum car in A-Spec will provide that, along with online. People are happy with the changes not because they are lazy low-life's that have no right to play GT5 along side the greats (sarcasm) like DestinKey and the OP, but because the penalty system in GT5 was crap, the AI is crap and frustration is not fun for many. The issue really seems to come down to individuals getting their feelings hurt because in their diluted mind, they feel accomplishments in GT5 actually mean something and the thought of Joe-Blow now able to accomplish the same is an insult.

They certainly did not "dumb down" the license tests. I've been trying to gold all of them, and many of them I've had to reattempt multiple times (a few 20 or more times).

They only got rid of the collision penalty with AI cars. Mostly because if an AI car bumped you, you automatically got disqualified even though you were not at fault. Basically it's Polyphony Digital acknowledging that their AI sucks.

Most of the tests are still stupidly difficult, and were clearly designed not to be a challenge, but to be as mind numbingly hard as possible. Not only that, but there are some huge underlying issues with them to begin with.

For example, the test using the Renault Megane around the Nurburgring GP. In order to gold it, I actually had to use the e-brake to kick the rear end of the car out; something's wrong with that picture.

I think you may find I brought the point up 2 posts before;)
Difficulty levels are a no brainer for me, I don't see anyone against it either. most games have a hardened/extreme difficultly for the crazy. While I enjoy the game I feel with more challenging ai and more restriction the game could have been a much better game.

I like the idea of difficulty levels but I think many here will agree, difficulty wasn't the issue before, poor AI and unfair DQ parameters was. The only thing changed is the DQ for contact, everything else remains the same. Hell, keep the lousy AI and unfair DQ parameters but just make the rules the same across the board. Whatever I can be DQ'd for, the AI should as well. If the AI rams me, the disappear from the race or get a 5 sec penalty. I have seen too many times, the AI scoot across the grass with no penalty and pop back onto the track in front of me. If I touch the same grass, I am DQ'd. Just even it up.

I have noticed the license tests being easier. I struggled with the S license before the 1.06 patch, now they're a piece of cake.

woot! I was previously stuck on IA-10. After a few tries (after 1.06 update) I easily pulled off 2nd place. I had not played in a long while so I can't remember why I didn't even bronze it before. Maybe I got bumped by the opponents. Or maybe I had too many assists on (slowing me down).

No complaints here with the update!

It might even be worth advising them to NOT log in online and update to 1.06 until AFTER they do the License Tests.

If they want a challenge, that is... 💡

+1 for a notice pasted to the outside of the box so everyone knows before they buy.

Acknowledge it???? That is EXACTLY what I am pointing out there.

Yawn, really...seriously?!? You guys are complaining about PD making the License tests easier? You completed it so what are you complaining about? It's not necessary to complete it, but some people like to complete things for completions sake. I'm not even sure what there is to complain about, with the amount of complaint threads about things being too hard, not enough Xp, not enough cash...seriously? It's not PD who don't know what they want, it's you the game who don't know what you want.

Some complaints were valid, actually most were. You did get too little XP later on in levels and few special events were borderline impossible to the majority of people. PD addressed those and are attempting to make the game a little more accessible to casuals. Personally I would have preferred if PD gave the game two settings, casual and simulation, casual would pretty much keep Skid Recovery Force on by default along with TCS and the AI wouldn't be too hard, and sim would just have everything off by default and the AI difficulty would be medium to hard for all races.

If you want a challenge, skip the license tests completely, take you and your skills online and try against some of the best out there. Befriend a lot of clean racers and from there you should have a lot of intense racing.

Winning online does not allow a person to make fancy signatures with their spectacular GT5 accomplishments, saving the world and bestowing upon the masses their awesomeness. This has never been about a challenge, the "challenge" term is being used to mask the real issue, mere mortals can now also drum up a fancy signature and take away some of their perceived clout and self respect (sarcasm).

You sir, speak words of wisdom.👍

I'm clearly an inferior human being, a "kiddy" no less (didn't realise I could be that at 39 years of age, go figure). I'm just going to jump off the nearest building because I don't deserve to waste the oxygen that could go to these amazing people who are so skilled at license tests.

Seriously, I could not give a rats arse about the All gold club, it's completely unimportant and not indicative of the malaise of society at all. In fact I find it utterly pathetic to compare a GAME to society. Bejesus you lot unhappy about the tweak are probably the same sort of pillocks who don't want saves during an endurance.

Just get a life, no-ones cars what you do in a computer game, it's utterly and completely irrelevant. If challenge is what you find fun then get off your arses and race for REAL, not in a video game.

I just don't get it... The point many of you overlook is that, sure, maybe YOU'RE happy that things are easier. I'm so GLAD for you!

But what you don't want to acknowledge is that, your desire for easier accomplishment is of absolutely NO more importance than my desire for challenge. But PD, in their infinite wisdom, has chosen to nerf the game for you ALONE. And left in NO option for those of us that want to struggle to achieve things.

I would not be decrying this move one IOTA if the option to do the tests on the original setting had been left in. How you want to play the game is of no concern to me. Press a button that say 'Instant Achievement and all Trophies', for all I care. You MIGHT note I don't put my Level or achievements in my sig. Whipping it out and slapping it on the table next to yours isn't my kind of thing. :yuck:

But so far, every effort by PD to make the game more accessible to the driving-challenged has resulted in a permanent reduction in difficulty for those that DO want a tougher experience. So it seems that, you get what YOU want, but the only way PD will give it to you is is to take AWAY from me the game that I want. That simply is not FAIR.

And using online as a 'fix' completely ignores the issue. It is not a 'fix'. It's a distraction. For a start off, you've got to kiss a LOT of frogs before you find a few princes :yuck: Then, you've got be online when THEY are, and want to race the same tracks and cars as them, and hope that some idiot doesn't come in and ruin things. Online is a great addition to the game, but it is just THAT. It isn't a REPLACEMENT for the game, or why have any one-player game in the first place?

OK, OK, so maybe it isn't a BAD thing that PD have made the License tests easier. But it IS a bad thing that they didn't leave in the original difficulty AS AN OPTION. As I said earlier, I feel sorry for any ADULT (or even a kid) buying this game NOW looking for a one-player challenge. He has been robbed. And many of you are standing round, APPLAUDING the thief.

:banghead:

I wonder how many of you have actually went back to the license tests post-update, because some of you seem like you are just commenting uninformed of the FACT that SOME of tests are easier, and confusing it with ALL of them being easier.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the only ones that are easier are the tests involving AI drivers. As far as I can tell, those don't even make-up HALF of the tests. The majority of the tests are time-based, are they not? The way some of you are commenting, it's as if every test has been made easier, which is NOT the case.

The times have not been changed on any of the tests as far as I can tell, and there is no way in hell anyone can gold the lap battles and whatnot by bashing and ramming into the AI. You'll never catch the lead car that way. So don't worry you "riders of high horse", your sense of self-worth is still safe.

As I've stated, the majority of them haven't even been changed (made "easier")--so if someone couldn't gold all of them before the update, they probably won't now. Besides, why should any of you care if you have already achieved such a feat.

Let me break it down for you, you are NOT IMPORTANT to PD. You are a fraction of a fraction of the players. PD needs to make money and you are not the solution. The masses are the solution. So no PD didn't make changes for me, they made changes for the majority of players. The players that will spend money on DLC in bulk.

I also love how, in your eyes, all other players are crybabies, instant trophy, driving challenged players. Must be hard going through life so perfect.

Wow, someone that gets it, amazing. This change was not in response to people crying about difficulty, it is about an unrealistic AI and DQ parameters. As has been said time and again, most people have lives and once something is no longer fun they move on. PD needs butts in seats to make money on this game. Of course a select few got their feelings hurt because they somehow feel their "importance" is jeopardized because of this update, sad, very sad. Of course the claims about difficulty will be shouted but considering all they "high and mighty" have already completed the challenges, doesn't hold water and is only a smoke screen for the real issue, dilution of prestige or self imposed prestige.

Let me break it down for YOU...

Most of the people wanting an easy game will be on to the NEXT game as soon as it comes out (and they have got all the cars and trophies they can auto-grind and dupe for). GT6 is going to rise or fall on the backs of those that are STILL playing GT5 in about four years. And THOSE are the ones looking for a challenge.

You also conveniently painted the issue as black and white, whereas you MIGHT have noticed that I said that PD need to nerf the game AS AN OPTION (or at least have the original difficulty in as an option). I have no arguments with PD nerfing the game if they think they can't survive without it being so easy a six year old can do it in his sleep (funny how that didn't stop GT4 from being a wild success and the foundation of GT5's success, though), but why do it at the expense of their long term players if it can be done as an option?

Most of any franchise game's success relies not so much on how good it is per se, but on how good the PREVIOUS game was. And, given that GT4's success came about despite (or, as I like to think, BECAUSE of) it's much higher difficulty to GT5, PD are treading some dangerous ground here...

By the time that GT6 comes out, none of the ADD kids will still be playing it. They will be playing FM6, or Shift 4 or F1 2016. And, with all the challenge BUT online taken out, so will MANY of the GT4 fans. And that won't be good news for GT6...

You mad? 👎 You completely prove my point. PD needs to keep these people entertained. Hardcore perfectionists mean nothing when it comes to profit. Let go of your sense of entitlement and look at the big picture. You are a drop in the bucket and are not important. Honestly, where else do you have to go? There is no competition, GT5 is the best driving game going, PD knows it and knows you are not going anywhere, and if you do, who cares? Your money is minuscule compared to the masses. They do not need to waste time with options, or difficulty levels Your tears do not fill up bank accounts.

PS,

Just because someone doesn't feel the same as you about a video game, doesn't make them 6 year olds, ADD kids or burdens to society, but you keep thinking you are more important then you really are.

Living up to your handle, aren't you? :sly:

So, the future of gaming is games that are for pre-schoolers? THAT ought to grow the franchise!

You've made no effort to address any point I've brought up. How did GT4 get to be such a spectacular success being so (sob!) darn HARD?! Are PD selling more copies, now that they nerfed it?

And, are all the best selling games today REALLY made so simple and constantly updated to be even EASIER?

Some acknowledgment of these points before you flame me again would be productive...

What you fail to acknowledge is that PD is after the post sale money, DLC. Who cares if a game sells 10 million copies if 9 million of those copies are no longer being played after 6 months because of crappy AI, crappy DQ restrictions ect.....? GT 1-4 were a different era, no one really knows of all the games sold, how many continued to be played. This is a new era and every aspect of a game is being watched, cataloged and crunched. Now, considering you have already completed all the licenses prior to the change, what does it even matter? Oh I know, it kills you that a pee-on could possibly have the same amount of golds as you do. There is No other explanation. As I stated before, keep thinking you are more important than you really are. And when the majority disagrees with the minority, who then is the troll?

Still diving in, head first before you check the depth of the water...

I have NOT completed all the License Tests to Gold. Never said I have. Not particularly interested in trying, any more, now that my little diaper has been changed for me... :yuck:

And you still haven't addressed how EASY GT5 has become (and getting easier all the time) whereas, I can't honestly think of one other game franchise that is trying SO HARD to make the games ever easier...

Logic fail, my friend....

I haven't addressed it because it hasn't hurt my feelings as it has yours. You make it sound like the completely revamped the game but in reality they made a few minor changes that effect maybe 5% of the game (changes made based on obvious faults in the game not massive complaints about difficulty) Based on your constant condescending attitude toward everyone you deem not worthy, I am glad it hurts your feelings and enjoy reading your tear filled rants. Oh and if you want a game that has changed based on community input, COD Black Ops, you may have heard of it, best-selling game ever. People complained about weapons being overpowered, they changed it. Oh yeah, Bad Company 2 has aswell, oh and Team Fortress, No biggie. All these games that have sold millions. I know you feel your opinion is the only opinion, but because you can not think of something doesn't mean it doesn't exist, you may think so but that is not the case.

Uh no... this better not be true.

Don't worry...
NASCAR special is near impossible since the last patch, because you can't turn off ABS anymore..

This is by no means the FIRST thing that PD has done to make the game easier. They nerfed the Seasonals, they nerfed the XP/cr system, they nerfed the starts (no need to learn how to accelerate off the grid any more), they nerf it every way they can.

And, dude, sorry if I misunderstand the point, but CODBO's community were complaining that the game was too EASY, not that it was too hard. Or have I got that wrong? :sly:

You've got to learn to debate something without taking it so personal. Debate the POINTS, not the person.

How old are you?

Don't worry...

So in one instance they made it harder, I am no longer worthy since I completed it prior to 1.06. How can I keep my head up?
