that squealing from your tires was a bad squeal. You'll learn in driving school there are different tones/pitches for tires when you're on the edge verses losing control.

Regardless of how it sounds in the video, I was well in control the entire lap. Tires seem to make alot of extra noise on the track anyways. My second lap of the Ring was in the rain, and let me tell you, I found the limits of the car that day.

Truth. Smooth pavement makes tires squeal like pigs. Case in point: driving through a parking garage at 5mph often elicits loud screeching squeals from your tires even though they're not stressed at all.

I will agree with him on the different types of tire sounds, and after watching my video again in some corners its obvious I was turning in to early and too fast on some corners, pushing the front tires making them howl a bit. It all comes with more experience. 👍

Slightly off-topic, but your Mustang does sound great and seems to be up on power compared to a stock one, what do you have done?

Great vid! So jealous. I know I'll never have an opportunity to drive around the ring. How much does it cost to do a lap if you don't mind me asking? Or how does it work? You pay a certain amount for a certain amount of time on track?

The way it works.

You buy each lap at the ticket booth near the entrance of the track. Single laps cost 24 euro, which is about $35 a lap. You can buy 4 laps and get a discount, 8 laps and a discount, and so on, up to a year pass. When you buy a lap you get what's called a ring card, just pull up to the entrance gate, hold the card over the sensor, the gate lifts up and you go onto the track! Every lap you have to get off the track, scan your card and go through the gate again, you don't get to go down the straight.

The Ring card is essentially a debit card for the ring. When you buy laps you are just putting money on the card, and it deducts it when you hold it over the sensors. It is also the only way you can pay for the restaurants across the street from the GP track. I believe it can be used in the gift shops too.

This is seriously cool, Widowmaker - a dream I think a bunch of us have, and you definitely one-up it by taking what's surely a pretty rare car for the 'Ring there :)

I moved this to the Cars in General section, since yeah, it doesn't really have anything to do with GT, but you'll find it'll definitely be appreciated over here too!

Nice! $35 is not too bad for a lap. Love the card system, it reminds me of the octopus card in HK hehe. How often do you go down there? It must get pretty busy seeing how it's not that expensive to take a lap.

I have been there 3 times, once last september, once in January, and last sunday. LOL $35 is quite a bit for my low ranking military salary. All three times I drove there, its about 1 hour 45 minutes away, did one lap, checked out the other cars, then drove back. It takes about $40 in gas, so its a $75 trip everytime, if I don't get something to eat.

When its cold or wet out the track is empty, in January I only saw 3 other cars there. Sunday there were probably 200 cars there, and the track was packed, but it was a nice warm clear day.

Here is the first time I was on the track. Unfortunately my second run only got the first little bit recorded, because the camera died, so I never uploaded it.
