I thought this was some sort of joke when I read the topic title. GTPlanet is the GT website & forum, It's beyond me how they can not grant him a copy.

This is extremely poor marketing, a review copy costs Sony what? Like five dollars or less? Trying to save that and offending one of your most loyal supporter is less than smart to say the least..

Thanks for all of your support everyone - yesterday was a rough day for me, and your kind words mean a lot. :O It is true that my request for a review copy of Gran Turismo 5 was denied by Sony Computer Entertainment America. I was offended, but, frankly, I wasn't that surprised, either.

Since then, I have decided I do not want a review copy. More specifically, I do not want GTPlanet to be bound by any legal agreements or embargoes, and I feel my current post-first-ask-questions-later freedom is far more valuable than anything Sony could ever provide me with. As such, I am not required to remove any content from the blog - I comply with their requests because I think it would be unwise to alienate the personable contacts I have made within the company. Over the long run, I believe I have much more to gain by maintaining a positive relationship with them. Leaving up a few videos on the blog - which you'll notice I have still permitted in the forums - are not worth jeopardizing that.

Now those are the words of a man worth respecting. Sorry I don't hold the same views on getting a review copy as most people here, but I do really appreciate your efforts 👍

With the premium memberships, google adsense and other forums of advertising along with the merchandising, I am quite sure Jordan is doing quite well off the back of GT and its community. While Sony do give out free copies of games to other businesses, I am not going to feel too sad for Jordan. Paying for GT5 is not going to break the bank.

It's more a matter of respecting his work, he has posted every single bit of GT news for the past five years and he simply deserves a copy.

Magazines make big money as well, still you don't see them paying for their copies.

That's exactly my point! I don't even think this will get him a copy, but if many people signs it Sony sees that many people thinks it's wrong. Altough.. not that they seem to care about what their costumers think....

Just a friendly suggestion to change the word 'owns' to 'owes' as the former suggests that Jordan/GTPlanet are under Sony's ownership; and the later makes the claim that Sony is indebted to Jordan/GTPlanet.

I'm going to sign the petition, but Sony is free to give out review copies to anyone that they deem fit (mainly videogame journalists). Maybe they are worried about having more copies of GT5 out in the wild... or maybe they just don't see how GT Planet can net them anymore end-point sales. I think it would be in Sony's best interest to throw Jordan a bone but, ultimately, it is their decision to market the product as they see fit. Considering how they bungled the most recent release date and continuing delay (with still no official word), I think we may be asking too much of Sony.

Signed. It's beyond me why sites such as IGNorant are permitted a review copy while GTPlanet is treated just like the general public. :confused:

I don't think there's anything wrong with Jordan getting a copy, but what I'm afraid of is that if Jordan and Sony would have a close relationship, it would defeat the purpose of this site, which is to find every bit of Gran Turismo leak on the internet. Like Jordan said, if he's under legal agreements, the news blog won't have anything to show. Right now, Jordan can at least put anything in the news blog as he wish, then perhaps take it down later. However, we at least get to see it to those who are early enough.

If Jordan has the game early, then he probably won't be able to tell us anything about it until a certain time anyway. It would also be pointless for GTP members to try and find any new videos and info, because it would be something Jordan would already know if he had the game. GT planet has always been a site where members in the forum would find interesting new news and tidbits, and Jordan would then post it in the news blog.
 
Like I said, this is a fan site, not a games review site or direct marketing tool for SONY.
 
"Jordan" seems to do some amazing research, he deserves a review copy of GT5. Really depends on his decision though, as mentioned by people before, it becomes a legal issue if he has a review copy of the game. The site will definitely lose some of its flexibility.

For the good of things around here an official review will clear up any false information that gets posted and will also satisfy the people that just absolutely cannot wait to know every single little detail about the game (not that you would get that in the review anyway). However, my opinion is that we have plenty of review sites out there and this place just wasn't designed for that sort of thing.

I still like the element of surprise but can understand people would rather not stick their necks out there for a $300 console and a $60 game to end up with something disappointing. If you're on the fence......seriously, just wait. Honestly though, I really do believe that this game will be top notch.

Ill sign, I'd like to give Jordan the freedom to make his own decision.

hmm if anything they should give him one of those Gran turismo "booth" thingies, with wheel, chair, 3d TV ect?

i mean.. this site is one of the top hits google finds when you search for gran turismo 5...

only a game.. ? lol fail.

ive seen crappier gamesites that gets more review copys ect. :)
