My attempts to bond with my niece are...mixed, to say the least.

I think it's the hair.
Seems about right. When both of my kids were little (before they could walk), a person who they weren't particularly familiar with had between 10 and 30 seconds to hold them before the bottom lip hit the floor, and about another 10 sec for tears. Keep at it and you can be the bad influence uncle when she gets bigger!

Looking back at good, pre covid times and came across this from when some very excited Swede got to meet me last year

So this was me (right, swearing) exactly 24 years ago today, aged 21, and just weeks after my return from living in Australia...

This was taken at my mate's house, as we gathered to watch England v Scotland in Euro '96... I think we consumed something like 48 cans of beer between the 6 of us, before going out into the street to play the local kids at football.

Did you leave Australia because you could only handle 8 beers?

Very foolishly burnt to a crisp in 30° heat in Hainburg an der Donau but the view from the top of the Keltenwall rock overlooking the town is worth it.

Second visit to Austria since the borders were reopened.

Since the Covid quarantine a couple weeks ago I totally overhauled my diet, cut everything out and only left meat, fruits and vegetables to cook all by myself. No grain, no sugar, no diary products, no artificial anything. Lost 6 kg / 13lbs in a couple weeks, I guess mostly water (stored thanks to grain & sugar) as I have become stronger in all my lifts.
I look a ton leaner (and younger) now, heck, I can even see my abs (barely).
