Well I could say more to emphasise my point but I honestly can't be bothered.

Then why post in the first place if you cant be bothered?

Interesting. I would have thought someone who was studying law at Cambridge would know how to back up an argument.

I do though I am out shopping and don't have the time to do lengthy explanations though if you want one I am more than happy to give one later. Even though I do study at Cambridge, this does not mean I am good at arguments and I would actually say I am rather the opposite.

Here is an explanation I found online:
The current favourite recipe for most analysts and journalists is a pinch of doom, and an enormous amount of gloom. “consoles are dead”, “mobile devices are the future”, but these comments are making gamers cringe. So lets talk about the good things we know about. Cloud services:

Good- Hands down the future of information infrastructure, and Sony has taken an early jump into the technology from a console stand point. While Microsoft has the infrastructure to offer the same services, Their history shows it may come with additional cost. This doesn’t mean Sony wont charge for the services, but that they will probably have less hidden costs.

Bad- To get this service Sony invested 380,000,000$ so if it doesn’t work out or becomes slow-moving, we may have to depend on stream only games. Bluray future:

Good- If there is to be a next step in Bluray technology, it will come with the PS4. 4K is said to be around the corner and only a fool would count Sony out as early adopters.

Bad- Only thing i can think of is if the digital media movement gains tremendous speed, and out shines physical media. Established 1st party:

Good- Nintendo isn’t the only team in town anymore, while Nintendo's IPs are more recognisable for all ages, Sony pretty much owns the mature audience.

Bad- Like Nintendo they may be victim to their own success, too many rehashes and sequels can cause a bottleneck in creativity, and with games like GOW, and resistance, it’s already starting. Japanese 3rd party relationships:

Good- Since PS1, Sony has dominated Japanese 3rd party support giving them the much-needed exclusives to be competitive, and today they still get the smaller studio Japan support. Most western designers don’t believe in exclusivity, although there is a few exceptions. Ultimately if Sony is able to retain these relationships, they again get an early advantage.

Bad- Sony was kind of a bully at the end of the PS2 era because of their success and this caused many publishers to go multiplatform, or even release games exclusively on the 360. Luckily they seem to be back on track to providing deals and incentives to publisher so we are seeing DLC and early access to other products via PSN. This bad is more of a, “remember where you came from”, rant. As always, Sony will provide an ample product for the enthusiastic consumer. Like Nintendo they have established themselves as a here to stay product, and counting them out would only be foolish. Is console gaming dead? Is Sony out after years of loss, and a poor vita reception? I think not, I think Sony will be in gamers hearts for a long time.

Well I find something interesting about the upcoming PS4 that is not only good for developers, but for us too.

The PS4 will have an improved API of Microsoft DirectX 11.1 that will work with a secondary API for the PS4 hardware.

And for those that don´t know, the API doesn´t need to be paid by Sony or anyone at all. Sony is free to use it because it is something that you can include in your OS so the games can use it if they support it.

Current PC´s uses DX11 and 11.1 will be coming soon as well, but the PS4 version will be "improved" for the console.

So yeah pretty much the PS4 will be a badass console and GT6 (if comes for PS4) will look really, really good. (those who play on PC as well know what I mean ;) )

Confirmed by the Senior Staff Engeneer of Sony Chris Norden.

That's a bit of good news. Since Sony likes to span out their consoles to 6-10 years, it can pull in for the long haul if it has to, and by all signs, it has to.

One thing though, I wonder how hot the PS4 will run since the ambient temperature can get pretty high around here. I have a stand fan dedicated to my PS3 whenever I play it. :scared: I still remember playing my PSOne without the need to worry about it heating up or anything. 👍

It will most likely be better than the fat PS3 models, if not better than the slim versions too.

EDIT: Sorry for double posting, I actually wanted to edit the previous post.

Makes me wonder if the Xbox720 has 8GB of RAM, but needs 3GB or 4GB for the OS (for all non-game related functions) will it again be what holds back ports of third party games?
NintendoNoob (replying to rendermonk)
They will probably only let 4 gigs work and you have to pay for the other four to work... Like Xbox live
(comments from the article Ddrizle posted)

Nearly died reading that.

Anyway, I think 7GB is plenty for games. I just hope the 1GB won't be a problem for multitasking.
