@earth.
Graphics are not everything,it seems you are easily pleased by eye candy gimmicks.
Gameplay is my point,I just don't see that much outstanding about the PS4,sure graphics help,memory etc but core gameplay won't be all that much different or much better.
Gaiki is something that appeals to me though and hopefully they'll stream PS3 games aswell without having to pay(if you already have them on disc)but that seams like wishful thinking.
Thanks for info on equivalent gaming PC an eye opener.
Easily pleased by eye candy gimmicks? Nope. The most interesting game at the Playstation Meeting was in my opinion far and away the Media Molecule "Puppet" game. Obviously it was the least impressive graphically of all titles shown.
Why are we even having this conversation? Graphics DO matter. If it was all about gameplay we should have stayed with the PS1 or PS2. Do you PS3 lovers realize the PS1 and PS2 had just as good if not (imo) better games then the PS3 overall? Yet you're addicted to the PS3. Perhaps you believe the PS3 has reached a level of graphics that are "good enough". Maybe in your opinion. But for many, including myself, there is no such thing as "good enough". I will always support advancements as long as they arent rushed and offer a proper value for price they are asking. PS4 is not rushed, in fact its long overdue.
Question: When did you buy your PS3? Its my belief most people who are resisting the PS4 purchased a PS3 in the last couple of years. For those of us like me, who had a PS3 since launch, the turnover cant come soon enough.
Lets see. 24 player Battlefield 3 maps on consoles compared to 64 players on PC. I'd say that hurts gameplay. Many PC racers have way more then 16 cars on track, and you can run them with older hardware. How about the thermometer issues in Little Big Planet's create mode? Some people fill half the thermometer after creating a single object. This is due to the PS3's limited memory. With 8GBs of GDDR5, Little Big Planet 3's thermometer should be much, much less restrictive and allow for better gameplay.
So more power does indeed help gameplay. Keeping the old consoles around for much longer will pretty much ruin the game industry. Gamers need a breath of fresh air. The games shown at the PS Meeting will look like crap compared to PS4 games 2-3 years down the line. Remember
this is how PS3 shooters looked at launch.
Ah not this again. It will not cost $800 and you talk like the 8GB GDDR5 is only for the GPU. Yes a gaming GPU will only have 2-3GB of dedicated RAM but there will be another 8GB of system RAM. I doubt the PS4 GPU will be using more than 3GB of the unified memory.
Rumors say the most recent PS4 dev kits had 3.5GBs for game memory with only 512mbs (.5GB) reserved for for other tasks. I see little reason why the PS4 wont have 5-6GBs reserved for games. We could argue over numbers all day. In the end it doesnt really matter. You'd be a fool to build any "gaming" PC under $800
Weren't you totally annyoed by all the sequels and rehashes?
Ah, sorry, the ones that annoyed you weren't PlayStation exclusives. My bad.
Sports games, racing games, etc I dont care if there is a million of them made. Actually I've never been a fan of the Uncharted Series. I do not want to see a 4th game, I'd rather them do something new, but many people do so I used the reference. IMO games based on stories (Metal Gear, God of War, and whatever else, should die after the 3rd game, sometimes even the 2nd game. They're only kept alive for so long because they sale, and devs arent willing to move on past something that sells. I have to give it to David Cage for refusing to make all that Heavy Rain DLC because he wanted to move on to something else. Can you imagine instead of Beyond Two Souls we could be getting Heavy Rain 2 this holiday season? Thats why all these sequels should really die, b ut they wont as long as they sale or theres a rare gem like David Cage
