A livery editor limited to strictly road premium cars and only with:

CAR NUMBERS
RACING STRIPES
COUNTRY FLAGS
MANUFACTURE LOGOS
GT5 and PS3 LOGOS

Job done ;)

And an option to put
your name on the side with your country flag.

like: *germanflag* S. Vettel

So you want one that is useless?

If there was a livery editor, it would only be for Premium cars.
That's not necessarily accurate. I mean, obviously it would require PD to expand some effort into Standard cars, so fat chance; but the paint system applying to Standard cars (for the most part) already shows that they have the base to build off of. The main problem would actually be that most (if not all) of the race cars in the game (Standard or Premium) probably have hard-coded textures.

I guess it needs to be repeated a lot. It seems that too many people are "hard of seeing." ;)
Apparently.

Because other than logistical problems (which may or may not exist) regarding putting it in GT5, I still haven't seen a reason in this thread against having it that that bit regarding options doesn't invalidate.

Oh I forgot, new visuals and 20 more hp.

That's just the power increase from racing stripes, Plus an extra 5HP for every sponsor name on the car :sly:. Can't wait for my 300HP AZ1 :p.

I wouldn't mind that in the slightest, Lets say around 200 cars that we can turn into racing machines that look like the ones in real life that way we end up having double the number of cars that came on the disk, If not more the possibilities are limitless frankly.

I'd love too see it in GT5..I wanna put pedo bears on my windows :D

Either some people only read the last post in a thread these days, or reading comprehension is dying on this planet.
Sadly yes, it seems like people only read every other word. When those people read my post this is what they'll see:

yes seems people read other. When people my this what see.

Don't forget that flames add 10 HP and +10% downforce.

Does the size of the flames make any difference :D, I sure hope so I want huuuuuuge ones down the sides of my tank car :p, Would be nice if we could have flames though and make volks-rods and what have you but that is getting into NFS territory thinking about it.

I only voted no as there is so much other stuff I would rather see in the game rather than messing about with vinyl's. I would much rather see an update to the standard cars or some new 2011 models in the game or some proper online racing catagories to make the racing closer. so that's the reason I voted non !

Yes the size does matter, if it extends along the whole car than it's +35 HP and +25% downforce.

Well, it depends on what car, if it's a Civic then heck no, but if it's an old Mustang or Challenger then in my book it's acceptable.

Haha wow I want flames on it NOW :p.

I was more thinking about being able to make proper drag style cars, Enough people have been asking for a dragstrip on GT5, What about the big fat sticky tyres 1000+ HP engines, And generally being able to make hotrods, I always thought PD based or wanted GT revolving around car culture.

Yeah, it would be really cool to be able to make drag cars, I have a 1000 HP Viper in my garage that 20" tires and purple flames would go nice on. I would expect a drag strip is coming sometime, whether it be DLC or GT6.

haha even being able to draw a number on the windows like they do at sanctioned events and run what you brung events.

I do, no question about it :)

Livery should be at the bottom end of the priority list. It's just a gimmicky feature. Adds nothing to overrall core gameplay

Neither does photomode. I mean it doesn't really add to core gameplay, but I've still gotten hours of fun out of that. A livery editor is kinda in the same realm as photomode, dealing with aesthetics and stuff. I'd like to see more customization in GT5, and I don't see a better opportunity for that than a livery editor.

I would like to, but only limited to sponsor decals and some racing stripes. Not like the one from NFS street racing or Forza. Where you can create offensive or inappropriate pictures. I would hate to tailgate someone with P@!## on the back.. It's very distracting IMO.

+1 this 👍

Great post Ondine, one of the most educated posts on this thread. 👍

Why do people keep quoting that post on the first page? I think this is the third time it's been done.

Absolutely. Being able to customise the appearance of my cars, especially my aero-modded cars and race modded cars would be incredible. Ability to distinguish between cars based on liveries would be a great addition. Ability to recreate liveries from real-world race cars, even better.

No, because thats one of the reasons i buy Forza games.

Only if is limited to Sponsors, stripes, flames and racing themed shapes, I don't wanna see any "my little pony" or " Forever Alone" livery while racing online

Well said, I saw those colorful donkeys plastered on the side of many cars back in Forza 3.

Sort of like what Treyarch does with the reported Black Ops emblems? Like TenaciousD and I have said countless times:

View User1234qwerty's Custom Livery? YES/NO

PROBLEM SOLVED.

Reading is such a wonderful thing that it is a shame so few people do it these days.

To say nothing regarding how comically pretentious that argument is even if it wasn't invalid.

This was never on my priority list in the beginning but now, I really wish that they had one. I guess I'm getting bored with the game? 💡

I really could care less if someone had some My Little Pony or Spongebob on their car. Why would that bother me??? Even if someone had a p*-#$ on their car, I could care less. I would not want them to not consider adding the Livery Editor just because there might be a few immature people online.

Yes I want the livery editor!!!

Jai
No, only if it were limited.. What people did to their cars in Forza 3 made me sick.

Really? thats funny because I have seen some absolutely amazing work done in Forza with the livery editor (the sharpie Lamborghini car comes to mind) and the amount of work that some people put into it is incredible. I for one would love to see it happen in the GTseries.

As for the ability to turn them off in either game I have never seen that option in Forza, and I have spent quite a lot of time in the livery editor myself.

Having the option to do something like this:

or this:

would be really nice especially if you belong to any of the major online racing leagues

Yeah, when I went to the rung what you brung RWYB at santapod a couple of weeks ago, they had stalls doing that 👍

Definitely. Partial limitations. Primary colors of interior and exterior (like you can on jut about every make's website these days). Decals and stripes should be limited to RM's.

Exactly I wasn't 100% if they do that or not ive never been but a mate had way back when in his Astra Van :sly:. Something so simple would help the game immensely and put all the nay sayers in their place, I can say for a fact if PD actually made some concerted effort and got it done a good 95% of people online would have cars that look like proper race machinery, Sadly it seems PD are still living in the dark ages where leaf springs were the hight of suspension technology.

Yup, what it seems like people don't understand is that if PD would do it right, with report and hide buttons, we wouldn't see all that much, ummm, inappropriate material.

I can't seen to find it anywhere else, but what sort of system does Forza use?
