Nürburgring Nordschleife - Love or Hate?

There needs to be some other big real life course in Gran Turismo, like Spa Franchorchamps, and Road America. Some point to point racing would be fun too. The Dakar Rally is a huge event thats not been mentioned, The Baja 1000 hasnt gotten a word in GT either. Its sad that the 24 hours of Daytona isnt in the game since they do have the Daytona Road course track!!!


It would be cool to do a race across America type thing, where you have to drive 3,000 + miles down the open highway. Closed to traffic in race cars or open to traffic in street cars. That would be the ultimate race!!

Or a race across Siberia using the trans-continental highway. You;d have to use Rally cars for that one. There could be highway barrons and such. Of course thats a long way off. The current PS3 is not even close to being powerful enough to handle even a thousand miles of track, let alone an open environment like that.
 
First few times i played on that track i realy hated it.
Now it is my favorite track, and i do most of my cars testing on it :)
 
It's my favorite. I use it as a test track also since it has such varying sections. Only problem is sometimes cars that are brilliant on the ring are too understeery on other tracks, but it doesn't matter that much as I mainly race the ring.

hate this track. can't master it at all and its way too long a track to get interested in
 
Greatest track on the planet, bar none.
 
If there was no Nordschleife I probably would't still be playing GT5. As a complete game, it is a massive disappointment but the Nordschleife makes up for everything.

As with GT4, I will be lapping this track for years in anticipation for the next GT. Hopefully next time we get some descent AI and a whole heap more premium cars to go with it 👍

And I will agree that it is the best track on the planet, followed very closely by Mount Panorama

Spa is light years ahead of Mt Panorama sorry......
 
I think if you are new to it it is a very difficult and frustrating track but with practice and experience it has become one of my most loved and enjoyable tracks. I much prefer to do the nurburgring 24hr track challenge in the all stars race than grinding round and round daytona or indy all day long. 👍

-i hate to race on it. :grumpy:
-i love to do time trial there. :D
-neutral for taking some shoot on the Nurburg. Nord. :boggled:
 
I absolutly love this track since I discovered years ago, it's the best track in the world.

This track is truly wonderful, made greater by PD's dedication to thoroughly bringing it to life with incredible detail. The time change is just icing on the cake.

My favorite thing to do is to go into My Lounge in a car I'm comfortable in (e.g. M3 GTR, Audi R8 4.2) and set the time to start at 0530 and turn the time-change speed down low. Then I drive leisurely around the track as it slowly warms up from the rising sun.

When I'm really pushing it, I certainly get a little tense, but most of the turns seem to flow into one another, and it feels natural. My one big problem spot however is after the Flugplatz when you gain a lot of speed and you have to make the high-speed left turn Schwedenkreuz followed by a sudden hard right turn surrounded by sand. I tend to think of it as a dogleg left on a golf course with a sand trap in the end which I inevitably will end up in. Even in cars I'm very comfortable in, I feel very apprehensive about this series of turns and usually take it cautiously. When I don't, I either slide off to the right on the left-hander or lock up my brakes and plow into the sand on the right-hander.
 
I have to say I feel pretty neutral with this track. If i have to race it, I will and I will enjoy racing it. But I will highly ever use it on practice. For grinding for xp or cr I will never race the track as it takes too long. Currently I am in a grinding stage and may be one of the reasons why i rarely play the track, as its not economical for me in order to raise my levels.
 
LOVE IT.

I would say 65% of my online race time is played on it. There is a group I run with many nights that runs 500ish hp street cars on the ring, we always have good close races.
 
after playing it on GT4.. and now in gt5... lol you just have to be mad to not love it! its the best PD can offer to us for sure!

Does anyone know why the Mercedes-Arena is cut out of the 24h track configuration? I like that part and it seems weird how it's just not included.

Because that is the 24hour layout.
The Mercedes Arena was only added in 2003 or so, before that there was a chicane at the place where you'll be driving through in the 24 hour coruse..
 
It was one of the reasons I bought GT5, i'd got so used to it in GT4 I wanted my fix.

And doing in a Yaris was tremendous fun :)
 
Best track ever, love it.
Too bad that the second best track in the world isn't in GT5 - Bathurst.
 
Me and a couple of friends used to race there every single night, you know back in the old days of PSN.
Damn i miss that.... so guess what.... Love it...
 
Love it. Every car I buy must win a race on this track. I love it...
 
Hate is a strong word. I don't hate the track nor do I love it. I'm very neutral about it. It's a fun place to go for my project car testing but I dislike it when I push to hard and spin on the grass and ruin my lap. I'm in the middle....
 
It's the petrolhead's themepark, more twists and turns than a rollercoaster ride, scarier than a "house of horrors" and it even has a carrousel, what more can you ask for?
