A race set up editor is the main and obvious thing lacking in GT. Has anyone ever asked PD about this and got an answer?

No, the Freshman Cup and the Red Bull Challenges were added to the game-and are not seasonal events.
Besides, the Majority of Seasonal Events in GT5 were nothing more than events already in the game recycled-with some new tracks (including a course maker-generated track) and more restrictions imposed, and the rest were special challenges ranging from single races to the overtake challenges. And so far, the Seasonal Events in GT6 have been single time trials.
What people are really complaining about when they want an 'event creator' is the lack of events that exist in GT6 (there are roughly 60 events, compared to GT4 which had three times that amount-which I think has more than any other GT game). If GT6 had as many events as GT4 did, there would be less complaining and less people wishing for an event creator.
Well, I don't know if anyone else has done it, but I've just tweeted a link to this post to Kaz's twitter account, god only knows if he'll actually see it or if he even uses that account himself, but someone must use it to post on his behalf, so it should get seen by someone!
when and how i want
My real concern for the event creator is to prevent any it from being used as an easy way to grind for credits, for example allowing the player to choose his opponents as miatas whilst he/she drives an F1 car over 20 laps of a track

I actually don't agree. A race creator shouldn't be limited to fit the needs of hardcore racers or realistic addicts only. If someone wants to race X1's against Miatas they should be able to do so. And even in that case, such a race could be made very difficult, at least as difficult as racing against fair cars. It's all up to the player. No one needs someone else to tell them how to do things.I don't understand why people keep saying this. I don't want it to be abused either but logically when you set the cars/PP range for the field you yourself should have to abide by it just like the AI. Now I know logic and PD don't always go together, but the idea is you're setting requirements for the race... i.e. you should have to meet those requirements.

I'd really prefer this mode have nothing to do with payouts at all, as to me it would defeat the purpose of a free mode if it still relied on career credits and progress, but if you want to take car perfromance into account, multiply winnings by 1+(AI_PP - Player_PP)*(some factor) or something like that.
What would be nice is if PD would be willing to license its core physics/rendering engine to a 3rd party, one which could create a game focused exclusively on a more involved and rewarding career mode, along with a more competitive AI. Or, PD could make one themselves, a separate GT product with a more singular focus.
They'll already have the physics, 3D engine, car/track information all ready, so it would only be a matter of creating the UI, AI, and game content. The minimal investment means it would still be financially viable as a niche product.
Of course, it'll never happen.
GT PSP Career Mode is what every GT game needs.
Polyphony did it PERFECTLY years ago.
Now they just need to repeat what they did PERFECTLY and everyone would be happy.
And in respect to heritage of the Series, Event Creator should open once the final race in S group is finished (as it was in GT2).
Basically this:
1. Pick event type (time, race, drift)
2. Pick & setup car
3. Pick & setup track
4. Go!
Payout was based on AI difficulty and number of laps.
Almost everybody hated GTPSP back in the day for not having a real career mode, but personally, I really liked it back then already and I think it was superior to GT5/6s. To improve it, I like the your idea of being able to create (and share!) your own made career/event playlists.
I'm just gonna shut up now because everything I say is being constantly shut down by everyone is this thread
As I said before, event creator or no event creator, the main problem is that the number of races in GT6 is inadequate-GT6 has roughly 180 races for 1200 cars, compared to GT4 which has three times that amount for half the number of cars-and one simple solution is to add more races, like they have done by adding the Freshman Cup in v1.01 and (half of) the Red Bull Challenge in v1.02-but they still need to keeping adding them through updates and any other means.
If GT6 contains Seasonal Events that recycle the rules and regulations of pre-existing events, like many of GT5's Seasonals did, then they don't count as 'new races.' But adding new and unique time trials and challenges will.
Lastly, Quick Match (from GT5 Prologue) is set to return in a future update and will consist of quick single races (and hopefully championships) against online players. All these factors combined should help bring the race count and race content up...
But for those who want it, i'm basically asking for this:
That's all
"...This thread needs more exposure and contributions to convince PD of the impact such a feature would have to it's game...It would also be very exciting to also have a sharing feature that enables players to download other players' events and it would be good if we could rate them to in terms of how good they are, the game could create a difficultly rating as well as showing how long they are, and any restrictions of cars etc. so we could easily identify events that suit our needs..."
- i'll start just by repeating your post :
"...This thread needs more exposure and contributions to convince PD of the impact such feature would have to it's game..." - cant add nothing here but to reafirm the huge relevance of a "race creator for career mode" in GT.
- the sharing feature its a good idea but lets try to keep the "request" simple. i hate to say this but this time, quantity is better than quality. i rather have one simplier "race creator ..." than just none.
- dont say that you would pay for that ! it's a feature that i see as a must, should have been in every GT game!! i think its more wise to say that your not paying for any DLCs if there is nothing to do with them offline. whats the point of buying more cars/tracks if we cant realy use the cars/tracks we already own?
we are not against gt, we care for the brand GT, we want to see it succeed. we are not demanding, we care.
WE CARE, LET US PLAY
I don't see any problem with stating the kind of features we would like to see for a track editor. None of the ideas are out of reach and so far most wouldn't take too much of their resources to implement. I do agree that a basic event creator is better than nothing at all but there is no harm in letting PD know what kind of features we would like it to have. They are under no obligation to put any of them in but may be inspired by some of these ideas and include them. I don't see it putting them off from doing anything at all. We simply need to clearly communicate our preferences are and what features are most important.
Whilst we see the feature as a must to truly enjoy the game to its potential, this feature has never been promised by PD and therefore they don't have to do a thing about it. They are however more likely to do so if they can sell it as DLC. If you want this feature as badly as you seem to then you wouldn't grumble in paying a few Euros, Pounds or Dollars to pay for it, especially if was only the price of a beer or two. I want this feature that bad that I am willing to pay for it and I'm not ashamed or feel it is bad to admit. That's how important it is to me. However, if they don't provide this feature in any way whether free or not, I am far less likely to buy car and track DLC this time round. I've hardly used the DLC tracks and cars that I bought for GT5 and didn't bother with the last track or pack of cars they released for it due to the limits on how they could be used.
Let's just agree that this feature is needed but I think it should at least give us enough flexibility to set the following:
Use any course including track edited ones
Select weather/time
Any cars
Allow us to set limits on PP, tyres, car types etc.
Change AI level
Choose rolling or standing starts
No of cars
Time limit or laps
Fuel consumption and tyre wear
Create multi-race championships
The following features would be nice but not essential for me:
Credit payouts for top three finishes (without this though, the desire to continue creating and playing will be lessened)
Sharing events
Ability to play them online with other players (simple if the creator is online but allows us to replace real players with AI vehicles)
this need to happenswhen ever i play the game and think of this event creator i stop playing and would imagine my self creating my own event with my own choice of tracks , cars lol sad but true
indeed gt6 doesnt feel like a big jump as gt2 and gt4 did gt6 feels like gt5 spec lll with some dlcI used to have lots of fun on arcade mode on GT5...As fun as I had online on it.
As I said, I think they have their reasons, but they really need to think again.
At least on my region, it seems that not that much of people are really online at GT6...I dont see many full rooms as I did on GT5 first year. Im also feeling disappointing with the game. As a friend said, all GT´s had a big step to the one from the past, except GT6.
That would all change with an event creator. It would be a big step, taking the "arcade mode" (event creator mode if you prefer) to the ultimate level.
...ability to assign drivers to cars from a pool of drivers.
Payouts would then be affected by those driver choices, etc...
I would be happy if they gave the arcade mode more options. I want a grid with 16 cars full of LMP and Group C cars ready to take on a real endurance race and it would also be nice if the credit payout was somewhat appropriate.
I chose no, I think everyone's SP game should be the same. Otherwise players just generate their own credits.
I'm quite happy with the race creator as it is.
Well I don't really mind the whole in-game economy as I buy the cars I want and I have enough money to do so (didn't glitch or anything), the only ones I'm not going to get (but could afford) are the 15-20mil classic cars.- credit payout - personally, i'd like gt without ingame economy but being there already, i think payouts need another raise. the amount of repetitive hours required to buy every car in game its not reasonable. whats the point of advertising 1200 cars if players were not meant to use them? being so hard, it's artificially blocking the content, it's forcing us to "play" the game as work and not fun, ruins the career experience because we use the car we can afford and not the one we'd choose...etc...limiting and boring
