Should Kaz join GTplanet?

I think that there are PD members lurking here. After all we do give a unbiased opinion as stated before. Still, I think it would be great for PD to spend time with their fans. Make community play dates. (Yes, play dates not days :3) And just spend time with the devs.

My focus would be that, nothing else, if PD needs feedback on the game by simply lurking these forums they have enough feedback. They don't need to make a account. I would just make one to spend time with the players and fans of the series, that's all.

KY is like God and works in mysterious ways. lol

I hate polls and skylines.

Second, if you want an innovative product, the last place of inspiration is the customer. He or she usually doesn't know what he or she wants, so how the hell he/ she is going to tell you?

don't give us much credit?

Minecraft, a very successful game gave people tools and there imagination that's all.

On the other side not listening to your customers can be detrimental. Although seeing some suggestions around here I can see your point lol.

Catering for the die hard fans would lose any developer 90% of their market share - not even PD can afford this.

Third, GTP and similar sites are a marketing execs nightmare as they have zero control over it. No control is bad. Like BAD written in capital letters.

Quite a lot of this is based on a misunderstanding of what I was saying.

PD have no reason to cater to us - GT has always been a personal project - but they can learn, for free, from us features we do or don't want that are already in the pipeline, to prioritise them.

Using us for marketing is daft and borderline impossible. Using us for market research is eminently sensible.

As much I appreciate GTP support for things like the GamesCom 2010 coverage and GT-A first hand reports, I dread in the same way what this community becomes if it is abuse in a way of putting pressure on a developer.

I rather much prefer it to be like in the old days where a bunch of loonies meet and talk about a video game.

Leave the official business site to the appropriate channels and enjoy the support of Sony through enabling GTP staff covering first hand by being recognised as media representatives.

Umm...

Having a PD member or seven lurking in the shadows in no way makes GTPlanet part of Sony's business. To them we exist only as market research. A lot of it. For free. Occasionally we cause them headaches by getting things out before they want them - perhaps part of our being brought on board for GamesCom and the like is so that we won't (GTP was one of one sites at GamesCom that stuck to the embargo) - but we're a free tool that it would be insanity to ignore.

That doesn't require membership of the site, but it would be easier for them to use all the features members can use in their research.

"I hate polls and Skylines."

Definitely my choice

Um, conflict of interest? Why would Eddie Van Halen join his own fan club?

Daft.

As Eddie van Halen? He wouldn't.

Why would the producers of the largest racing game franchise on Earth ignore the free market research offered by the largest single-platform, single-series game fansite on Earth? He wouldn't either, but he wouldn't join it with his own name!

Should Kaz join GTplanet? I think he should, as he could communicate directly with the fanbase and respond to feedback.

I don't mind Kaz joining GTPlanet, so long as he doesn't start a thread about his love of Skylines every 5 minutes  .

Almost from my first day on this forum, the first forum I've used enough to consider myself a member, I assumed that PD employees were part of the community. Even beyond market research, they have reason to lurk and participate under an assumed name/avatar. I know from experience that the peons who write the code and test and support the game are also huge fans. Why wouldn't a fan be a part of a fan site?

Think of all the hours Kaz has driven on GT5. I heard somewhere on this forum he put in at least a thousand laps (yes, three zeros) on the Nuerburgring on the GT series before he did the real 24hr race. I can easily see him asking (anonymously) Priano or ACSR421 for a tune after reviewing a tune. And even if its a stretch for Kaz-san, it's not a stretch for the regular employees.

I don't think Kaz is one to worry about a few flamers and haters throwing kitchen sinks his way. I mean, that man established a historic gaming franchise, a legitimate racing academy that is gaining respect in international motorsports, and is adored by auto manufacturers and car fanatics alike.

I very much doubt a few unkind words to him will scare him away.

For every hater, there's at least 5 of us willing to buy him a beer.

Yes, it'd be pretty cool.

Would be a bit pointless given his English isn't very good.

I'd put good money on the fact that he has joined this site, obviously not under his own name.

His English is very good. Good enough not to wait for a translation before answering me. In English.

Like some others here, i don't think he should (in an official capacity). Mainly because the servers would overload with all the PM's and visitor messages etc that everyone will leave him.

And yet he's perfectly capable of tweeting in English.

When it comes to Japanese (and Korean) people and speaking English, they're often better at it than what it appears like. I've been a leader at international youth camps where there has been Japanese (and Korean) delegations, and in the beginning they have not spoken a lot of English at all. In the end however, it's a whole different story. Not because they suddently learned English, but because they learned that it's okay to speak a language even if you don't know it very well, that it's not impolite.

Not saying that his English is very good, but it's not as bad as it may seem either.

Oh ok, then I have previously been misinformed.

Well, as he said in the interview, if people demand it, it can be implemented.

We demand a livery editor and more manufacturers. Thank you. :)

At least we could make a proper interview. Every time he only seems to have time to answer to couple of questions which would mean he certainly does not have time to chat on forums. Community interaction should be however much much much higher on priority list of PD.

I'm not saying he should become just an average member like you or I but he could use this site as a valuable researching tool.

The poll needs a 'Is he already here option?'.

Not sure if He's ready to read all these complaints from complaining complainers.

Who's to say he already hasent? Best way to get feedback and ideas is a forum like this

He shouldn't he doesn't need to and judging by a lot of the comments on here (not this thread specifically, but across the site) he does not deserve to have to read fanboys slamming him on a daily basis because they think they're going to accomplish something.

Yes, but he'd probably be banned for multiple accounts. :sly:

He's probably lurking around every now and then with some random username.
