Well, the lighting wasn't great and I didn't even bother pulling out the DSLR for these shots. But it's going to rain between noon and Sunday night so this was my only chance for this weekend. There's a nice open field nearby, which makes for a much better background but it had rained the night before and the entrance was full of thick mud, so yeah, that wasn't going to happen. :D

I'm considering a Softronics ECU update for the car. If you think about it, with some minor intake and exhaust variations, the 3.4 H-6 DI engine is essentially the same in the 981 Boxster S (315 hp) Cayman S (325 hp) Boxster GTS (330 hp) Cayman GTS (340 hp) and 911 Carrera (350 hp). It's just electronic finagling on Porsche’s part that artificially keeps the power lower in the 981 models. It just seems like something which I should find a way to correct for the greater good.

Got myself a new car yay! The (Opel) Astra Martin has done enough miles for me, time for some new experiences. After my holiday in Australia I knew I needed a new car that invites me to do road tripping. Wasn't really sure what to get but I really wanted a car that I could tour through Europe with. I always take the motorcycle for tour drives and the Astra Martin wasn't really inviting me to do long trips. I need a car that goes, has some luxury and comfort while not being too big, I can do spirited driving with and if possible one that has an automatic gearbox. A lot of cars went through my mind, wasn't an easy choice, but after driving an 1 series BMW I was almost sure this is something I want. After a few days I found one to my liking, so here it is :D

Shiny.

What are the reason for choosing this car over something else? I've not driven a BMW 1 Series before so no idea how they drive.

Compared to other cars the 1 series just ticked all the boxes. So many brands with nice hatchbacks but couldn't find any other as nice as the BMW. My mate drives a Mercedes A and that just doesn't do it for me, didn't like the interior of the Audi A3 and other brands didn't have such nice options as BMW has. After driving one a few months ago I was really happy about how it felt, very different of course than my Opel Astra, but didn't thought it would feel so nice. Or maybe I'm just biased, talked my way into a fast and then smokey lap in the BMW M3 in Australia :P

You can hear my dad laughing his ass off in the back

Holy crap, a tach with an op temp marker? HECK yea

Had a busy day Wednesday doing little bits to the Megane. And yes I know the body repair is rubbish. My first ever effort at repairing a rust patch and a hole so I’m actually pretty pleased with it. Piper cross air induction kit is probably overkill and I’m aware that it’s in a hot part of the engine but I intend to extend it to the front but it only camenwith a 90 degree hose, it’s also better than the rotten thing that was in there prior.

So my project over the last few days has been replacing the seats in my Corsa when I've had time. The new seats (from an old car) needed some work to restore the rusty runners. My cat tried to help. She didn't.

What's with cats and helping? I'd just finished cleaning my bike when...

Any noise terrifies my cat. Vacuum cleaner, lawnmower, hair dryer, you name it. Yet she'll happily listen to Slipknot!

I don't have any fancy photos of my ride just yet, but here's this :)

Car: 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero
Engine: EJ20 2.0L Boxer-4
Turbo'd
AWD

Conclusion? It's a Subaru Impreza WRX in disguise :)

P.S. The various marks on the road are from my previous car, in case you were wondering 👍
An Impreza with the interior of a Saab - sounds like a match made in heaven. Looks fantastic, too!.

Meanwhile I gave my old wagon a coat of wax last week...

Haha the interior is pretty much straight out of the Impreza actually. Only minor tweaks were made. Glad you like how she looks though!

That's kind of a shame really! The interiors of Saabs (the rebadged Vauxhalls we get in the UK at least) are such nice places to be. Ah well, it's still a Scooby and it still looks awesome.

Welp, the Rendezvous wetted itself today on my way to Kroger. Coolant all over the intake manifold and surrounding areas. The radiator and coolant reservoir were completely dry. Judging by the way the coolant is splashed on the manifold makes me think it was a intake manifold gasket failure. It seems this was a pretty common thing among Rendezvous' and Azteks; I was just hoping I would be lucky.
