I think the new update is great. As someone else said its back to cars now, not stupid emotionless trades.

There is much joy to be had wringing out the valves on a untuned 2L somethingorrather and too many people are like HAI I WANT X1 TRADE FOR BENTLEY TRADE NOOOOAAAAAWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I think....wow - think of the enjoyment if they left all that behind and went back to the unnamed 2L sports car.

GT5 has some weird cars, and copped criticisms in comparison to Forza 3s somewhat more mainstream exotic line up, so by limiting the 1mcr trades means we get to enjoy the left of centre (for mainstream console racers anyways) cars that we forgot when everyone was duping and trading and lessening the trade value of alllllll my rare cars. Its what GT5 should have done from the start. :p

Wow... you're SO RIGHT! I totally could not do that prior to this patch.

Oh.. wait.. No! You're just another arrogant elitist trying to force your own value system down other people's throats.

GT5 should of had the content to destroy Forza to begin with. There's no reason why a patch should be why it defeats the competition. 6 yrs. and this is what we get? I am considering leaving this game for an EA product. That sad considering I've played the GT series Since GT1.

Want to stick around here? Then lay off the personal insults.

New patch is great, addressed PP with tires. and people are just throwing fits over a 1 million credit cap for car trading..

@brambos, so much energy and time you got mate, to whine around here. This even might not be the right thread for you. The "anti-1.07" is in another room ;)

BTT, yeah, I like the actual patch, too. My only problem is, that for our league I setup every car with race mediums and we decided to go with given PP´s, but switch to sports soft. Car behaviour got a "little" unpredictable.

Which I don't fully understand, as my understanding, the cap has been lifted.

Just go ahead and close this thread. People who "cheat" do not affect you or me in any way.

I have been reading comments made and this seemed to be the one that stuck out the most. Why is using a system that was put into the game cheating? I dont like that you cannot trade a million dollar car anymore but it is not cheating that i can create a back up of my game file. It is just smart to use that option. You back up your data on your computer and that is not cheating. Who is this cheating on anyhow? you or someone else did it effect the way your game was played? No, this option that is usable to all is not cheating it is simply collecting cars. How long would it take for an average gamer to collect 10 million to purchase a F10 as a used vehicle? well, i have been playing since christmas it is now the end of feburary and i have not broken the 8 million barrier and i play maybe 5 hours a week. Now if some play this game 15 to 20 hours a week then you would be repeating the game over and over again just to earn enough money to buy these cars and most of the cars that i have use this gift and save idea are cars that i have not seen in the dealership. In the used car dealership yes but only on rare days. I think that if you dont like "cheaters" then dont play this game cause PD has cheated us of a good way to collect cars.
This game will run its course, like that crush you had on the 9th grade hottie, you will get tired of the fantasy and then wake up to find her hittin it with another guy!
Shut up and race!

I am an average player, playing GT5, Black Ops, Assassin's Creed, and various Wii games. As well as having a job, raising 4 kids, keeping house, and running chores. I still managed to grind $5,000,000 in five hours with Bob on the Dream Car Championship. The average player, (me,) does not need weeks or months to obtain a F2007. Just saying. :)

First of all I want to mention I haven't read all the posts here, I only read to page 7 or 8, so maybe this was already said.

I absolutely agree with the patch making duping harder, because duping is just stupid and spoils nearly every game where it is possible.

However as most of you are hardcore purist, think about the average player.

I'm working 60-70 hours a week, and I really love GT5. It's just the perfect game to calm down after work. However as I play maybe 30 minutes per day, if at all, I'm quite restricted in the choices of races I do and so grinding is absolutely no option for me. This means the only means to get cars I want to race and which are more expensive is saving once and then doing the gift-restore-gift back trick. I never gifted a car to an account which was not mine and so I'm feeling not bad about it. However now I can't gift them back, restricting heavily my choice of cars for racing and thus ruining the race experience. So they took the really only part of the game which was not ****ed up, and ****ed it up for the average hard working player. Thanks PD.

Oh and what I think is quite interesting and maybe funny, this update violates at least the law of my country here. It's forbidden that after a contract was made to take away value of the object which was traded, only to add value if both parties agree.

How's the situation in your countries about that?

I was thinking the same, here is 1 comparison; I buy a big Mac from McDonalds, sit down to eat it and a McDonalds employee comes over and takes away the lettuce and ketchup out. :ouch::grumpy:

ps; I will send a free Gold Chrome Paint Chip to the best/funniest comparison posted in the next 24 hours 👍

You met a girl online, absolutely gorgeous. You talk, flirt, share pleasantries for months. You think that your falling for her. You arrange a date. :nervous: You make the plans, and go to the restaurant. But you can't find her anywhere. You at the Maitre'D to see if by chance they may have any information. They then direct you to the table with Amy Winehouse!!!:yuck:

That would be my analogy.

+1

I could not agree more.

And to those who are saying "I'll play the game how I want, why do you care how others play the game?" Just give it up already. We play the way we want and you play the way you want, but obviously PD has a problem with the way you're playing it or else they wouldn't have done anything about it. It's called exploitation. And how about the people who like the update talk here and the people who don't like it talk here, instead of flooding this thread with your negativity.

I don't get this. How is trading a car worth more than $1,000,000 exploitation? Mind you, I wouldn't object if they'd have implemented a proper solution to avoid duping, but to disallow gifting cars over $1,000,000 is hardly a proper solution. Nor is limiting the number of cars you can gift to one a day per PS3, as opposed to per account.

Why shouldn't I gift cars over 1 million, if I have them spare, and a friend of mine would like them? Or why shouldn't I trade them for another car I like, and someone else is willing to give? To me, that's functionality which makes this game more fun. I don't see where this is exploitation. If it's the duping that's the issue here, well, implement a way to avoid the duping, without breaking that functionality. Or can this really be so hard?

I guess I should've been more clear. I was talking about the duping aspect. I could care less if others are trading 1 mil+ cars fairly. I collect and don't trade usually, so it doesn't really affect me. This is probably temporary, until they find a way to diminish duping altogether, but don't quote me on that.

I haven't traded all that much either, but I've shared quite a few expensive cars using the gifting system (I actually had to laugh when I read "When lending and borrowing cars between friends, please use the car loan system", as if that would work as you'd want it to), and I am rather unhappy that this went away. They can implement a solution for duping all they like (I honestly don't care if people dupe, though), but that patch is no good, IMHO. I don't think it deserves any praise because of the mere fact that it avoids duping of expensive cars, for me it deserves the opposite for how it was implemented.

Full time job, 4 kids, keeping house, and chores still you had 5 hours to sit and play this game. Now let me see hmmmm! seriously on any given week you would be divorced. Single or your just a junkie who thinks selling drugs is a full time job!

Sorry dude you might have gotten 5 hours to play on saturday but if that is all that you got, do that math real quick; there are lets say 10 cars you want that are all up wards of 10 million. 5 mil each week, thats 20 weeks to just get those cars.

Its just a game. if i build my garage up does it affect you at all.

I really like the patch to stop duping of the expensive cars. I have nothing against the people that do but I just dont feel like it's part of the fun of the game. People can do what they want with the game they bought.

Why can't we all jsut get along?

Full time job working for Ford, 4 kids, keeping house, chores, not married and the only time I have fight about the Playstation is getting it back! Also, Saturday's are wonderful.

Also, I did the math, and hmmm........... Only two cars upward of 10 mil that I want. Both are Ferrari's. The rest I have. Check my garage link. Wonderful friends, aren't they. They like JGTC and DTM cars, and not the pricey cars like the Miura. I get them, I send a Falken something or other, and then buy the Falken again. No duping. Just trading. I will say that I will miss the trading of ANYTHING, but couldn't care less about duping. Doesn't affect me at all, quite happy to see it go. Because, if you build up your garage by duping, it obviously has affected me.

Because after the 3rd of March, I can't have trading. Thanks for that. But it's just a game that became less than what it was that's to cutting corners. Affected not only me, BUT EVERYONE across the world. So, keep telling yourself that dupers were just playing their game, and you might just believe it. But back to reality. I don't mean to be sounding cross, and not singling any one person out. Just showing my support for playing a game the way it's supposed to played without cutting corners. Because, ten years it was cool, now it's affected our gaming world. Software companies are starting to pay attention. They are making updates to stop cutting corners. The hardware companies are too. Look at Sony itself. It's doing everything to stop hacking the system. But, I know some people that would argue, well it's my system, I bought it. But that argument only seems to go as far as said persons breathe will carry it. Actions speak louder than words, after all. But I can say, my way of playing never affected you in some update that limited the quality of friends you can have.

But one more question. Every duper is taking this personally. Like PD just spat in their mothers faces. They took out half of trading. 76 cars, not 1024 or so can't be traded. Duping will exist with lesser cars, paint chips, etc. I'm sure with human engineering, duping will live on, quite well. One last point, if your sure that PD was trading dupers, then why do still have send=able tickets and birthday tickets? Which have been exploited just as long as cars, with allot of the same effect? Interesting.

👍
And you work for Ford?Respect!!!!!!!! *salutes*

Well, a Ford dealer.

Still cool.Im in Singapore and have seen ford's mustangs, they're a rarity here because they're LHD so I treasure the oppourtunity when I see one.It also dosent help that a toyota corolla costs $100k over here.So Im jealous of you guys in the US.

Anyway lets see PD actually improve the game in the updates. 👍

The best car I have ever driven was a Shelby GT500 with an aftermarket twin-screw supercharger. It also had aftermarket suspension, and well everything else. Blew the doors off a Ford GT '06 we had in the shop. Would love just to see the Shelby in the next update, in any form. But I think updating cars is on the back burner right now of Polyphony Digital.

Just coilovers or did it go the full 10 yards with a watts link?Yup,PD got bigger problems lol...

Full 10 yards. The aftermarket parts alone were worth more than my yearly salary. But I tell, I wish that PD would have put this game. Would eat almost everything!!!

Indeed,I've heard watts links are costly as hell.Yup,it would be a great drift car I bet! Adding you as friend now, don't wanna be flamed for turning this into a mustang thread :p

Please would you explain how building up a garage with some of the most rare cars in the game, that no need to remind you, you cannot win! changes your game play.

Just in case you are wondering i care nothing for the Ferrari's that seem to be so coveted. there are no races in the ***king game that will allow us to use them. So why would it matter if i get one or not.

Oh yeah cause its not fair to you that a guy that only plays about 4 hours a week has a car you have. oh damn you will be crushed! please that is BS. PD created the game so they will update how they see fit.

I waited 6 years for this game, when i got it around thanksgiving i acted like my 12 yr old daughter does when she hears Justin Bieber, and now i feel like what i thought would be the best thing in the world with online racing and 6 yrs to make it better. It is just a piece of **** in a plastic case.

I will still play and still trade cars back and forth as long as i get something in return it is not cheating.

Great update, hopefully now people will actually have to earn the top end cars rather than pester a few people online for them.

Specifically the X1. Do the challenges and feel a sense of achievement rather than begging and pleading strangers to send you one for free.

All this nonsense about "WHO ARE THEY TO TELL US HOW TO PLAY". Erm. The developers. Who just did tell you how to play. By imposing these brilliant limits.

Agreed.
