Build 1337 (06/05/15)
GUI:

* It works alright
* Fixed another issue cause by Bandi Namco

Weather:

* It's been unusually sunny recently for England

Cameras:

* This works as well

Gameplay:
* Played the game some more
* Alan can't drive, he keeps crashing into things

Characters/Animations:
* Added driver flipping off people that can't drive (such as Alan) animation, motion capture material from David Coulthard and John Cleland

Pitstops:
* Stocked up on milk
* Phil brought in a nice tin of flapjacks

Physics:

* WMD-9001 Investigating issue cause by Assetto Corsa fanboys calling it Shift 3

I just want to point out that I know the work will not stop for a very long time due to post release updates and content

Can't wait for this build to be released!

Some notes about console graphics/performance from the render team:

"The preview was based on an older build of the game and several of its observations are unfortunately either wrong or due to bugs or items which have subsequently been addressed by the dev team during the finalling process. Notable:

- The level of Anisotropic filtering was increased from 4x to 8x on both consoles, significantly improving the general image quality and sharpness of the road.
- Both consoles are set to use motion-blur at the equivalent of the PC medium setting – the differences seen on PS4 were due to bugs which were transient with on-going optimisation and not because PS4 uses object based motion-blur.
- The shadow differences highlighted were largely down to the various slope-scale DX11 issues we had at this time, like many WMD users had reported on the PC builds.
- The build reviewed was also lacking the render bridge camera work, which as you all know significantly improved frame pacing and the general feeling of smoothness especially when cornering.

In the article it is mentioned that Project Cars on Xbox One is using post-process anti-aliasing which is equivalent to the PC's higher FXAA settings. This is incorrect, the Xbox One version uses MSAA, or more precisely AMD's EQAA (Enhanced Quality Anti Aliasing) with 8 fragments and 4 samples, which is equivalent to MSAA 4x on PC."

I consider EG to be a pretty impartial site, and I'm glad the DF section of it does as thorough a job as they do. Too many video game sites only scratch the surface of games, leaving much to be desired for those who are interested in what's under the hood of the games.

If you get annoyed by current titles being compared across the platforms that they are released for (including PC), then digitalfoundry is not the place for you.

They pulled no punches against the PS3 when that console was struggling to reach 360 performance, and they don't seem to pull any punches against the xb1 in this current gen. Sounds pretty fair to me.

They simply do it for the clicks not worthwhile at all IMO. I do like dev blog too not PR stuff how they make the games, etc. Eurogamer, no thanks :banghead:

Has anyone done any conclusive tuning in the game so far?
If anyone has, could you please put up some of your thoughts and suggestions.

If performance analyses aren't your thing, it's understandable that you're not interested. You're mistaken if you think no one is interested in that sort of stuff, though. Dev blogs are a completely different thing.

They're not even being one-sided. They point out several things that the XB1 does better than PS4 as well, not just things the PS4 does better. The PC version is mostly used as a control sample as far as I'm concerned, to be able to more easily see which effects have been adjusted for each console version.

Actually its a fairly rare slip for them in that regard, they are one of the better sites around in that they clearly indicate if a company has funded a trip to review a product, refuse the review the on-line side of games until the public servers are up and running and have ditched scores for reviews in favour of a more broad recommendation.

They are of course doing it for traffic (what website isn't) but they are a damn sight more open and transparent than the vast majority of gaming sites around.

They didn't even hide the hide the correction on the analysis page, putting it on the main page as well

I'm just a regular (but active) WMD member. And yes, I admit I'm sometimes getting protective too quick about the game. :D
In which case please do not do this........

"We (WMD+SMS) are not happy that this happened btw."

....again. You don't speak officially for SMS, so don't infer that you do, its misleading and the AUP is quite clear on conduct of that nature.

Sorry about that. I'll do better. :)

Have to feel sorry for SMS today after all their hardwork...Eurogamer basically rips the game a new ****hole and now most people are put off. Eurogamer have sadly went down hill the past 2 or 3 years and in particular this gen of consoles and today's shoddy journalism hopefully puts other devs off sending games to them.

What's your PSN?

Had a quick search but couldn't find you.

No they didn't, they provided an accurate analysis of the build they were given, that the build wasn't destined for a tech review was corrected as soon as it was made aware (within hours of the original piece going up). Even before that correction they had clearly stated that it wasn't a final build and they would revisit the final code in release (as they have done with pretty much every title).

It certainly hasn't put me off for one.

Shoddy?

You mean by acknowledging the issue as soon as it was raised, correcting the article and apologizing both on the sites front page and within the article?

If you read their comments section tons of people are now put off, And while they have now admitted they made a mistake why take the video's down but leave up the full article and screenshots?

Also since when did EG start doing face off's and tech analysis 3 months before the release date??? Lets see if they can destroys GT7's reputation 3 months before release...I can tell you right now they will never do such a thing to that series ;)

Did you read the update at the head of the piece, it makes it quite clear.

They run face off's and tech analysis as soon as they are able (and three months? Its not three months before the PCARS release date), it varies from title to title and publisher to publisher and the analysis they have done across GT5 and GT6 have formed the very basis of a number of posts I have made that are highly critical of areas of the GT series.

So yes they have done such a thing to 'that series'.

While it is true that he can't officially speak for SMS, the statement was in fact 100% correct. ;) And your statement also applies to WMD: individual WMD members opinions/statements also may or may not reflect the opinion/statement of the community as a whole. 👍 (we disagree on lots of things to be honest :D)

No, I think he's right. I formulated my sentences a bit misleading in this case. I also now edited the post he was referring to.

Anyone know why the PS4 version suffers from terrible motion blur? We have seen it in every PS4 video so far in where if you pause it the cars all round about look incredibly blurry...
